I received a factory safety recall notice in the mail today concerning my 2005 kia sedona minivan. i purchased it in fort walton beach, florida while stationed at eglin afb, fl. i received military orders to move to minot afb, north dakota and found that there isn't a kia dealer within 286 miles or 5 1/2 hours. there is an authorized kia service location in minot, nd at don bessette motors but can only use them for emergency factory service. the factory recall condition states that in freezing conditions, which north dakota falls into that category, can cause the throttle cable to freeze during normal operation allowing the vehicle to maintain or accelerate speeds without warning and may cause a crash. i would like to have the kia motor company to either authorize me to have my car worked on here in minot or have my car towed to the nearest kia dealer at their expense and have it fixed. i work in transportation for the military and have never heard of such resistance from a car company to fix a mistake on one of their own cars. thank you. *jb

I am the owner of a 2004 kia sedona. approximatley three months ago, we received notice of a recall on the vehicle. it was immediately taken in to have the repairs made - or so we thought. when we returned to get the vehicle we were told that it needed repair, but the manufacturer would not provide the dealer - bill jacobs - joliet, il - with the parts necessary for the repair. as of today's date 9-7-05 the vehicle has not been repaired. i have made complaints to kia, numerous calls to the dealer and each time we are told the parts are expected on a boat the next day and amazingly they never arrive. *jb

Dt: after the owner purchased the vehicle on july 2 2005, she received a recall letter on july 9 2005. the recall number was 05v329000. it was about the throttle cable sticking. the owner was upset because at the time of purchase, the dealership did not make her aware of any recalls on the vehicle. the owner believes that if a car has a serious safety problem, the car should not be sold until repaired. this should be a law. cars should not be sold when they have outstanding recalls. the owner is concerned that some people after purchasing the vehicle, would not pay attention to these recall letters that arrive shortly after purchase and they could end up in an accident due to something that should be repaired before the car is sold. *jb
