Manufacturer defect in air conditioning compressor; i bought my 2006 kia sedona brand new in december. when i began to use the ac in the spring, the driver side was not producing the same cold air as the passenger side or the back ac. i took my vehicle back to dealership twice, the second time i was told that i must have had a collision with some road debris and caused the defect. they stated they put freon in and it ran out as fast as we put it in ~ i stated freon is a gas ~ shouldn't it have evaporated? they said it would cost $1100 to fix it, and i stated what about my warranties, they stated that because it was my fault that i had to pay. they told me to contact my insurance company, when i did this the insurance company stated that it would be listed as a collision and my insurance premiums would go up. when i went to pick up my vehicle, i was driving home in 100+ degree temps, through rush hour traffic with my infant; the ac air was hotter than the outside temperature. (i actually made the manager of the store come outside to feel the air before leaving the dealership.) i took my kia to a second dealership who clearly stated as soon as they looked at my vehicle, oh that is a manufacturer defect, but since the dealership (where i bought my kia) had put into the computer that i had caused the problem, kia would not warranty my part. so much for the warranty and extended warranty!! needless to say, the second dealership added freon and my vehicle still has cold air, that was 9 months ago! the first dealership was also supposed to fix my handles and hood; when i first bought my vehicle, the hood paint was messed up and the plastic on the handles was melted on. it took 2 trips to the dealership and the workmanship substandard! they said they would change out my handles, instead they decided to repaint my handles, what a job they did!! they used spray paint and got droplets all on my inside door panels! i'm finished with kia products! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 kia sedona. both the driver and passenger side window moldings fail to repel water when the windows are lowered and raised. the molding actually separates from the window and reduces visibility. the vehicle was returned to the dealer and the molding was replaced twice. the failure was corrected on the rear windows, but still persists on the front. the dealer stated that the molding was created to simply repel water; however, this is not the case in her vehicle. the current mileage was 17,500 and failure mileage was 400. updated 01-10-08. *kb updated 01/09/08

Vehicle has been suffering from constant power loss with esc light inlluminated. now it suddenly accelerates with the light lightest touch on pedal, lurching as it accelerates. it happens especially often when engine is under stress, such as climbing up a hill. i was was parking in garage when is rapidly aceelerated and my side bumber in front grazed gargae door sidewall. it has also happened in reverse with rear side bumber nicking same spot on garage. this vehicle is a safety nightmare. fault codes p2135 and p2106 often appear.

I have owned my 2006 kia sedona since august 2006. during that time, the power sliding doors have proved to be extremely unreliable and potentially unsafe. most of the time, the passenger side sliding door will not close properly. it will power to the closed position, continue trying to close (making a grinding noise) and then either pop open a couple of inches or power open again completely. it will then beep three times. this happens on flat surfaces and even slight inclines. the door has opened whilst driving on the highway. i have been to two dealers (many times) who are unable to replicate the problem or have tried making adjustments to them. i keep on being told that the door is operating as per design. we avoid using the passenger side power sliding door when we can. this problem has recently started happening on the driver's side door as well. judging by the number of complaints about this problem on both the 2006 (and later) kia sedona and hyundai entourage (exactly the same vehicle) on the odi website, and numerous internet newsgroups, this is affecting a lot of people. i love the van, but am completely fed up with the power sliding doors and want them fixed. *tr

In early oct 2009 the driver side rear door of our 2006 kia sedona would not close. it was as if the lock was stuck in the locked position. we had it fixed at the kia dealership. then in dec 2009 the passenger side back door had the same issue. we again had it fixed at the kia dealership. *tr

2006 kia sedona, sliding doors keep sticking or locking so you can not open them, in cold weather and in warm weather. after not being able to open doors, if car is drive or even setting after not being able to open doors the doors will then open causing lights & bells to come on. if driving you may have to stop to shut door, but if car is turned off and sitting, if the lights & bells come on you do not hear the warning and i have had my battery go bad. i have replaced the battery and now battery is going dead over night. this automoblie is the worst car i have ever owned. i bought this car in 2008 and have not had it 2 yrs and have replaced the battery, put 4 new tires on as tires keep loosing air pressure and head lights have blown 3 different times. as far as the doors sticking/locking i have reported it to my dealer and they stated they knew about the problem, but put some luburcate around the doors, wlhich i do not think is the cause of this defect, it acts more like locking of the doors. if i were to have a headon collision where both front doors were unable to oopen, and the car started on fire, neither i nor any passengerswould be alble to escape. i am not the only one with this problem, i have a relative that bought his 2006 sedona in the state of washington during the summer of 09 and his do the same thing and this person has 3 children that he has in his car. this should have been recalled long ago. the date that i am including below is going to be the last time this occured. *tr

August 12, 2008 after picking my children, 8yrs old and 4 years old up from the babysitter both sliding doors would shut and reopen on their own. i was able to get to finally get both doors shut by shutting off the electronics of the door. however when i left my babysitters and the first right turn i made the driver side sliding door flew open, while my son was sitting there. i called kia in fort wayne, my car was towed the next day and returned to me on the 13th with the passenger side control module replace. the driver side sliding part was on back order. on sept. 3, 2008 my drivers side sliding door control module was replaced. here it is september 8, 2008 and the driver side passenger door is doing this again. i called kia in fort wayne and they can get mar car in on wednesday. kia fort wayne i feel has done everything they can as far as replacing the part, but this door is coming open while i'm driving, because something is seriously wrong. i have video recorded this door no latching at the time it happened on september 8th. i hope that kia seriously looks into this major safety issue. i work in the automotive industry and can honestly i am disgusted in how kia is handling this safety issue. is kia waiting for a death to take place? i found 4 other complaints on this same make/model on - www.motorpits.com that states they get the information from this website. *tr

Power side passenger door opens without warning when in motion. does not do this all the time just out of the blue no warning. the vehicle has been in the shop several times for the doors and as well as other problems. my main concern is the doors. i have 3 children 3, 7 and 10 and use the vehicle as little a possible and no longer take their friends as well as our dog in this vehicle. i purchased the kia sedona ex in july 14,2006 and it has only 15,165.00 miles on it. i have no confidence in the service department and i don't believe they understand the seriousness of my problem. i have done some research online regarding similar complaints in chat rooms, is anything being done about this issue? i am currently working on a case through the lemon law. *tr

I have a 2006 kia sedona. it was bought used in 2007. approximately one year later both sliding door latches broke. once opened in normal everyday use the doors would no longer latch closed. the passenger side sliding door was the first to go. after closing the door repeatedly and having it bounce back open we finally got it to latch shut. we then tied the door shut until we could get it in to be serviced. while driving through a parking lot the door again bounced open as far as the rope would let it. on the day before we took the kia into be serviced the driver side sliding door did the same thing. thankfully the kia was parked in our driveway when this happened. nothing we could do, other than tying the door shut, would get the door to latch. this is a 2 year old vehicle. the latches should not be having problems. thank god no one was injured or worse, however if the doors had fully opened while going down the road at normal speed someone could have easily been injured or fallen out. *tr

Both rear sliding doors on our 2006 kia sedona have issues latching. they can come open while driving, if not tied down well. once we are able to get them to stay shut they cannot be opened or they pop open while driving or do not shut at all without being tied down. this happens everytime the doors are opened for the last month. no correction has been able to be done except tying the door shut. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 kia sedona. when the contact attempted to close the electronic sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle, the door closed. however, it re-opened immediately afterwards. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. approximately three weeks later, the failure recurred and the dealer reset the computer. approximately one month later, the failure recurred and the dealer stated that they did a re-learn. approximately seven months later, the contact stated that the sliding door failed to close when the button was depressed. she was forced to close the door manually. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure once more. the current mileage is 15,000 and failure mileage was 350.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 kia sedona. the contact stated that the sliding doors would not stay open and would close without warning. this failure has caused bruises on four different occasions. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the dealer lubricated the latches on the door, but this did not remedy the failure. the door continued to close without warning. the manufacturer stated that the doors would close if the windows were down. the current mileage is 7,000 and failure mileage was 300.

I was in a parking lot once again, loading my children in the passenger side of the 2006 kia sedona that we have, and when i went to shut the door, it bounced back open five times without latching...this will make the fourth time that we are going to take it in tomorrow morning for door problems...this will make the third time that we have had the same problems with the passenger sliding door bouncing back open, and not latching. big safety issues that need addressed soon! the first time taken in, problem could not be duplicated...second time, the service dept installed new cables in both sliding doors, the third time was for the drivers side sliding door, that was stuck open and would not shut at all and had to drive down a busy street that way...they found a cable nut that was unplugged in the door and supposedly fixed that, but they would not provide me with any proof of my vehicle being in the service dept while i went to pick up the van from obrien...service guy kept saying he would put my papers in the mail....sounds kinda fishy to me....and now this (doors bouncing open again on the passenger side) i have two very small children that ride in the two seats there, but the service dept and obrien does not seem to care about that...so, we will see what happens in the morning!

I was out shopping with my 2 year old twins and my mother and we were in a parking lot loading our stuff in the 2006 kia sedona once again and the van door would not close. it was stuck open....we waited in the kroger parking lot for about 2 and 1/2 hours while no one at obrien kia would come and get myself and my two small children, and the door was wide open, and it was starting to get dark out and the breeze was picking up...we have had the van in obrien 2 other times for the passenger sliding door bouncing back open and not latching (big safety issue, and now the drivers side sliding door won't even shut (another big safety issue) with small children in the car...who's to say it won't happen while we are driving down the highway and when is it going to actually going to get fixed, or does someone have to get killed first!!!! a receptionist from obrien finally came about 2 1/2 hours later and drove my car down a busy street with the side door still open and the headlights turned off, and took it to the shop to be fixed, and i now have a rental car again. they say it will get fixed this time again! *jb

We also drive a kia sedona with automatic sliding doors and we too have problems with them. it does not happen very often but when closing the doors the bounce back and do not latch, leaving the door open. another times when you open them they do not open all the way and latch. we have complain once about the issue and they were fixed for 1 month maybe; but we still have the problem at least 5-6 times a month. i know there are more complains about this issue with the sedonas and it seems kia-hyundai are not coming with a solution; because i know the entourages have the same issue. i/we love the van, good power, comfortable, good handling but the issue with the doors is annoying. *tr

2006 kia sedona mini van. it would make a loud bang, pop noise when the wieght would shift right to left on the front end. also when taking a left hand corner. it was in to kia of nasha multiple times for this noise. they could not resolve the issue. we decided to live with it for a while. the noise continued to get worse until we dicided we had enought and took it to a local shop we trust. they report that our sub fram bushings and sub frame are completely shot, rotted out. he said we were lucky we brought it in because the engine was not held in on one side at all. it was completely gone. this is only a 5 year old sedona with 80k miles on it! the engine could have dropped out or bottomed out on the highway causing a crash.
