Airbag light comes on, flashes goes off, comes back on. dealer recognizes problem and has designed a robust electrical harness replacement but refuses to cover costs. this re-desing of the electrical system for the proper functioning of the airbag restraint systems was first recognized by the manufacturer in 1999, the date of the vehicle. the nhtsa bulletin number is sb610933. please help!!! this is a serious safety issue and concern for not only myself but the saftey of my children.*ak | |||

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle lost traction, due to ice on the road, and hit a guard rail, while traveling 20 mph. the vehicle impacted the guard rail head on, and the frontal airbags failed to deploy. both parties were secured by the seat belts. a police report and photos were taken of the incident. the vehicle was driven away after the report was taken. the vehicle was taken to an authorized repair shop as instructed by the insurer. the service dealer and manufacturer were not alerted. | |||

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 40 mph the vehicle hit another vehicle from behind and the frontal airbags failed to deploy. a police report was filed at the scene and the driver sustained minor injuries. after the accident, the air bag light illuminated. the dealership was not alerted and no inspections have been made. | |||

Airbag light came on. computer read the wiring harness was faulty and had to be replaced. *ak the consumer states that the air bag light had come on. the manual indicates that the vehicle must be serviced immediately. when the vehicle was serviced, the service writer made it clear that this is a common problem. the factory harness indicates there is a problem with the head rest air bag only. (there isn't one) now the consumer is forced to replace the factory wire harness with a re-engineered harness that sends the computer the proper information. *scc | |||

The side air bag indicator light come on while driving. the dealership indicated this occurred because of a high voltage issue with the side air bag control switch. the switch has to be replaced. the cause of the high voltage issue was undetermined. *jb |
