| I have a 2000 mercury mountaineer that i have had for 2yrs. now. i keep up the maintenance on this car. i keep the oil changed tires rotated, brakes fixed, pass the emission test every year since purchasing it. i've had this squealing high pitch grinding noise comin from the rear tires.it is very loud. i have new brakes all the way around,shoes,rotors,pads,in it still makes this very loud noise.it has gotten louder since i have all new brakes. i don't know what this noise is, but i know its embarrassing to drive,cause the noise is so loud. *tr | |||

| While i was parking the car in the garage, i came to a stop about 12 inches from a file cabinet against the back wall. then i put the car in reverse to move back a few inches for better clearence. all of a sudden the car unexpectently accellerated forward and crashed into the file cabinet and totaled it plus damaged the front bumper, grill and hood. note that applying the brake did not stop it. very thankful that no one was in the front of the car when this happen. | |||

| When i attempted to stop on a dry day going approximately 20 mph my brakes did not operate properly. they grabbed and then released with a forward motion. i continued to apply pressure with both feet and the brakes still reacted in the same fashion. subsequently i hit the car in front of me. i had the car towed to the mercury dealer and they stated they could find nothing wrong. i am concerned and actually worried about driving my car. *tt | |||

| While driving at 25 mph the brakes were applied but they didn't hold. the dealership indicated that this was caused by the brake calipers freezing up and getting hot which resulted in the seals failing. *nlm rotors, pads and shoes were replaced. *tt | |||
