| Defect Summary | On certain trucks, passenger cars and sport utility vehicles, the windshield wiper motor may have been produced without grease being applied to the output shaft gear. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | After a period of continuous use on the high speed setting, lack of grease on the output shaft gear may cause the gear to distort or fracture during operation resulting in a loss of wiper function. inoperative wipers under inclement weather conditions could cause a crash due to impaired visibility. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 mercury mountaineer. on a snowy day after driving the vehicle the driver noticed that the back rear door window was broken. the contact stated that there was no previous cracks or evidence of craks in the window. the local dealer informed her that she was responsible for the repairs. on 4/12/07 the dealer informed her that the hydraulic valve that kept the window open and the head of it was cracked. the dealer stated that the failure could have caused the window to break. the current mileage was 33,100, and the failure mileage was 33,001. *ak | |||
