Defect SummaryOn certain motor homes built on workhorse chassis and equipped with gm 8.1l v8 engines, improper hardening during the heat treatment process can cause the fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip to fracture, resulting in inadequate retention of the damper. if the damper becomes loose, fuel could be pumped by the fuel pump into the under hood area.
Consequence SummaryIn the presence of an ignition source, a fire could result.
Corrective SummaryWorkhorse is handling the owner notification and remedy for this campaign (please see 06v225). dealers will replace the fuel rail pulse damper retainer clips on these engines free of charge. owners may contact workhorse at 877-294-6773 or monaco at 1-800-685-6545.

When driving about 30mph i hit a dip in the roadway. when the rear wheels entered the dip depression, the result was that the tail pipe hit the roadway and was pushed upwards into the inside of the body at the rear on the drivers side of the unit. this resulted in the opening of the tail pipe being up against the inside of the body panel with the body panel more or less blocking the exit of exhaust gases from the tailpipe. the consequence of this was that the resulting heat from the tail pipe caused extensive damager to this area of the motor home. one of the storage compartments was melted. the electrical cord was damaged and had a hole burned in it. a lot of the wiring was burned and melted. light fixture was burned and melted. the input box for cable and satellite connections was totally burned up. two of the exterior doors in the area of the tail pipe were burned and damaged. the tail pipe itself became detatched from the muffler and supporting bracket and was simply dangling down without support. i currently have the unit at an rv repair facility so that the above described items can be replaced and repaired. *tr the dealer stated replaced lower trim, replaced transfer switch and wiring, replaced 2 rear comp door and transfer switch and wiring. updated 10/26/07 *tr
