Defect SummaryVehicle description: light duty passenger minivans without remote release. this is not a safety recall. there has been no determination that a safety defect exists with the minivan latches. chrysler is conducting a service campaign to replace the liftgate latch assembly of the affected minivans. in a collision, the rear liftgate latch assembly could open.
Consequence SummaryIf the liftgate latch opens, occupants can be ejected resulting in significantly increased risk of injury or death.
Corrective SummaryChrysler dealers will replace the liftgate latch with a new stronger latch assembly without charge. chrysler began notifying owners of these vehicles beginning september 1995.

 Doors do not lock properly. they lock up from the outside & inside when trying to get out of vehicle. dealer has not cooperated. has given consumer the run around to replace the part.*ak

 While driving abs brake light came on. went to apply brakes & had no brakes. vehicle failed to stop right away. took to dealer & mechanic replaced abs pump. later, brakes failed again & took vehicle back. brakes repaired once more. however, problem has reappeared. dealership has gone out of business. the am/fm cassette stereo system also malfunctioned. in addition, sliding door never closed appropriately. *ak
