Overheating reported; original dealer replaced relay switch; upon request to examine head gasket problem, confirmed no problem. second dealership examined car and said head gasket was blown -- $2000 repair. same dealer advised pattern of head gasket problems in these models. original dealer subsequently examined vehicle and denied problem. after further driving, problem recurred only now confirming head gasket. cost of repair exceeds book value of vehicle, but one dealer already acknowledged pattern of problem. it seems, therefore, manufacturer should be responsible. decision to repair must be immediate because of cost. *ak

Starting in early 1996 the van started to stall when slowing to a stop. this did not occur every time i stopped, and it was very unpredictable as to when it would happen. the dealership in ft. walton beach couldn't find a problem, but cleaned the fuel injectors and throttle body to try to see if that was the problem. it seemed to help, but a few weeks later the problem resurfaced. over the last three months i have had this problem come and go with no solution in sight. i moved to california last year and the dealership in lancaster could not find a solution. yesterday i found a secret service bulletin # 18-16-96 which address this very problem. the fault is with the hardened crankshaft position sensor. *ak

In last two weeks alone van has stalled 5 times. van is constantly in the shop for stalling. the problem is very intermittent but seems to be more affected by adverse weather. when it rains or snows or there is high humidity i am very concerned that my van will stall. the problem can not be duplicated while it is in the shop. it has even been hosed down to try to get the proper wet conditions that seem to make it stall. i have counted a minimum of 38 reports on your website (listed under different categories, i.e., engine, defroster, brakes, other parts) so i assume this is a major concern. i have stalled on the highway, have stalled while turning right (in front of oncoming traffic) and in most cases it is while i am transportating children, which is why most people purchase a mini-van....to transport children. it is a very uncomfortable situation when you are afraid to drive your vehicle. please advise what was done to correct the problem with the 38 complaints that i have read on your website. i will gladly provide the odi id #'s. feel free to contact me at home. also please be advised that my local dealership has not reported any problems of this nature ??!! i have been dealing with the same service station since i moved to town (14 yrs ago) which is why i continue to go there, i am confortable dealing with same service station. *ak
