1995 plymouth grand voyager air bag light is defective to clockspring. *ts the consumer 2000 chrysler town and country was recalled for the clockspring. the consumer believes the clockspring recall should be extended to include the 1995 plymouth voyager. *nm

 (1) my 1995 plymouth voyager has a defective clockspring assembly causing the horn to not work and the air bag to be disabled. there is a recall on the 1996 plymouth voyager (ref nhtsa campaign id number : 02v293000) for this exact problem, but i am told that i must pay a chrysler dealer approximately $100 diagnosis fee in order for chrysler to consider offering assistance. i do not mind paying $100 diagnosis fee if i am guaranteed to get the money back when they tell me that the clockspring is definitely the problem. all i want is to get the part for free and i'll install it myself. (2) no consequences yet. (3) the problem has not been repaired - awaiting chrysler help. *jb

Our 1995 plymouth voyager was serviced for nhtsa recall 99v113000 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment and within a couple of months after service the air bag light had come on . light had never been on previous to recall servicing . returned vehicle years later (light on entire time) and requested to service the problem if related to recall nhtsa recall 99v113000 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment . dealer has charged me $82 dollars to tell me that wiper motor needs replacement and additionally a cost of $247.90 would be required to fix the problem. i was informed that the air bags will not work until wiper motor is replaced. my request to investigate this claim under the recall action was ignored by staff/technicians. recall was required for a design flaw due to the common fuse between the air bag and rear wiper motor unit, but repair does not include design repair . i am wondering what exactly is fixed under the recall. symptom is exact as nhtsa recall 99v11300 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment , but prestige chrysler dodge of longmont, co. will not fix under recall and seems to have no concern for consumer safety. *jb

I have experienced 2 failures of the accessory drive belt tensioner on my 1995 plymouth voyager. the first failure occurred while i was operating the vehicle at about 10 mph. the belt tensioner assembly broke away from the mounting resulting in the loss of my power steering and nearly causing an accident. i had the vehicle towed to the dealer and a new belt tensioner put in. the service man told me that they had seen a lot of these belt tensioner failures. recently, during a service visit to replace the faulty airbag on the vehicle, the service people reported that the belt tensioner was again frozen and needed to be replaced. when i asked whether they would replace the part for free, they told me to call chrysler customer service. i called chrysler customer service and they told me that they could not do anything for me, and that chrysler did not consider this problem to be a safety problem. i consider this a serious safety problem. it certainly was a safety issue when it failed on my vehicle the first time, and i could barely steer the vehicle. i have also seen at least one other near accident due to the same belt tensioner problem on anothe vehicle. i believe that this is a chronic problem with this vehicle and needs to be investigated. *ak
