The failure of the door mechanism just happened to occur when i opened the door but could have been potentially dangerous if it had occured when driving. the body shop that fixed this problem has seen at least 10 of these vans with this problem in the last 6 months which in turn tells me there is a failure or design defect

Whenever making left or right turns, a dinging noise, like a bell, would sound for door. the locks would go up/down. dimmer switch was used to turn off interior lights which came on/off on its own. this happened only when vehicle hit bumps or rough patch in road. the door ajar light stays on. dome light comes on also. has taken vehicle to dealer as of yet to check electrical system. *ak

Under routine maintainence the mechanic at sanders automotive service noticed that the lower hinge on the drivers sided door was loose and then that the metal around the opening in the door post column where the hinge enters the post is torn. i have called the local dealer, looked up nhts bulletins and called the manufacturer to report my findings. i do not know how long this condition has existed. it is not on any recall list but it is a serious cost to me if i have to pay for it myself and a safety issue. it is not from abuse by myself or the previous owner. i believe it is a faulty assembly problem--a failed weld in the back up plate that holds the hinge to the body.

The complaint refers to a 1995 plymouth voyager. a passenger vehicle. car doors pull away from frame causing door to jam, the door then fails to close properly & passenger can be ejected from the car. that is a serious defect. not one like the bulb may stay lit & cause early burnout. the door hinge system is dangerously flawed. no one was injured only because the seat belt kept the occupant in the car. this defect rendered the car unsafe to operate & unsafe to sale. the estimate for repair was $1500-$2000 with no guarantee of the weld holding & the problem resurfacing. the car was sold for scrap. *nlm

Sliding side door falls off of 1995 plymouth voyager mini van at elementary school in mass. while students are getting on board, fortunatly no one is hurt thanks to the quick reflexes of driver who catches door before it hits the ground!this actually happened to me on 11-28-01 while i was picking up my son at elementary school. the defective part is part#04673202.(one of the outer races on the roller bearing was defective causing the hinge of the door to fly off the roller bearing track). cost of part is $72.00. labor to install part is 1-1/2 hours @$65/hour. i am asking chrysler to help me with the repair of this safety defect. i am recently unemployed due to the after effects of the september 11 tragedy in new york and can not afford to pay for the repair at this time. can you help? i know that the last thing daemler chrysler wants is more negative publicity due to defective doors on their mini vans. i will probably buy the part myself and attempt to install it. does any on know how?*ak

The sliding door track underwent fatigue failure, causing the door to fall open upon initiating opening the door. had we been moving and the door been bumped. i have grave concern the door could have become unhinged and begun cartwheeling down the road. worse than that if the door did remain attached to the other two hinges, the gap between the door and the frame in this case was sufficient for someone to fall through. my son tells me a friend of his who also has a 1995 plymouth mini van had his side door completely fall of at the high school parking lot a couple months ago. houston, we've got a problem! there is no excuse for what i saw today. please give me a call. i took pictures of the failure if you want to see it. i'll be taking it to pomoco chrysler plymouth for them to fix tomorrow (2/14/00). *ak

On may 3, 2000 i took my plymouth voyager to roberson motors in salem, or because of a broker bolt attaching the strut to the rear hatch on the right rear of the vehicle, with subsequent damage to the headliner. upon inspection and appraising the damage, they found washers that were too small, causing the bolts to snap. i was told there should be a recall on it. upon checking they were surprised to find it was not listed as recalled. they suggested i call chrysler and inquire about reimbursement as it clearly fit the description of recall 730. i understand that when the problem was identified, recall was made, and the problem was corrected at the factory, however it was obviously not corrected on this vehicle and still poses a problem on the left side. hoping we can have this problem taken care of by chrysler but not getting anywhere. thank you, patricia spence
