Tl*the contact owns a 1996 plymouth voyager. since november of 2003, the transmission has been replaced three different times. after purchasing a brand new transmission, it failed again the very same day and needed to be replaced again. the contact has had the top half of the engine rebuilt. the vehicle is stuck in drive and will not hold fluid. the front windshield wipers activate without a power surge in the vehicle. in addition, the rear bolts keep coming out of the shocks. the contact has taken the vehicle to have the bolts tightened three or four times. the engine is ticking and smoking. the serpentine belt slips off if it gets even slightly wet from snow or rain. the check engine light sporadically flashes on and off or constantly remains illuminated. the air conditioner was completely serviced; however, it cannot be used because of the transmission failure. the current mileage was 155,000 and failure mileage was 116,250. update 09/10/08 *cw updated 09/15/08. *jb

Dt: the contact stated there were several safety defects within vehicle. the service dealer attempted to repair the vehicle numerous times. there was a problem with the defrosting system, the air conditioning belt, heater core, and heater blower, they were all replaced. the replacement of these parts did not solve the defrosting problem. the steering column shook while driving at normal speeds. the dealer has not been able to diagnose the source of the steering vibration. there was a squeaking noise in the brakes. the dealer said this was normal because the vehicle was not in use for a long period of time. the dealer indicated the noise would end with normal use, but the noise continued. *ak updated 12/7/2005 - *nm

The air-conditioner failed to work properly during the first hot spell of the year. the dealer diagnosed a coolant leak. although it was a slow leak that very likely began while the vehicle was under warrenty, plymouth would only pay 70% of the repair bill because the problem was discovered after the 36000 mile warrenty ran out. the cost of diagnosis was not covered at all.

The evaporator for the air conditioner has developed a leak and i have lost all coolant. the repair costs are substantial because the front dash has to be removed to replace the evaporator. although my mini-van is less than 3 years old, it is out of warranty due to the mileage. a friend of mine who owns an autobody shop mentioned that he has replaced quite a few evaporators in voyager & caravan mini-vans recently. is this a common problem with these mini-vans?
Air conditioner is spraing out out white flakes, some kind of material from inside of air conditioning vents onto passenger and driver which is causing skin irritations and burns. tsb is out for the voyager 95. *ak

Electronic contol unit is bad. this controlls the wipers as well as many other things. only the windshield wipers do not at this time. i thought we would crash into some when we were on the highway and a big rainstorm hit. we could'nt see anything, it was very scarry. dealer estimates $579.00 for repair/replacement. chrysler said too bad not our problem. also, the parking brake does not hold. i had that checked @ the dealer, who said it could not be adjusted any further w/o risk of the brakes locking up. they also mentioned, the cable was fine, it was not stretched and did not need to be replaced. when we use the ac system, it gives off a bad smell. i think there is some filter in the system somewhere, but they state at the dealership, it does not affect the interior smell of the vehicle when replaced. in otherwords, it will not make the smell go away. the lugage rack does not stay locked in place when adjusted. the locks will not work to hold the adjustable bars in place. the cruise control accelerates far too quickly from the steering column buttons. it also does not dissengage when i try to use the buttons. thank you for your time and patience! :o)
