Defect SummaryOn certain minivans, some trim material can loosen and drop into the rear outboard seat belt assembly, causing the seat belt to become inoperative.
Consequence SummaryIn the event of a crash, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the trim with foam blockers and inspect and replace all 3rd row seat belt assemblies. owner notification began june 3, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

 At the request of www.unsafebelts.com, i have contact daimlerchrysler and now your organization regarding my concern of defective gen3 seat belts in the middle and rear seats of my 1998 plymouth voyager. both my children always use their seat belts, and sit in the rear and/or middle seats. the possibility of the seat belt accidently unlatching when most needed is of utmost concern to me. i would appreciate this complaint (concern) being on record. thank you for your time. *ak

 Vehicle has had the same problems for 2 1/2 years now, vehicle will not turn on, cooling fans will not shut down once car is off and will then will not turn back on, seatbelts have black tar which has seeped out of the seatbelt housing. also, headlights flicker on and off while driving, cassette ejects at will during operation. *ak

 While attempting to park, another vehicle hit consumer's vehicle on passenger's rear side tire. child that was sitting in middle seat in rear was thrown to floor because middle seat belt didn't hold. please provide any further information.*ak

 Rear seat belts locked up due to vehicle insulation melting over the seat belt mechanism during the hot summer months making them unusable.

 When replaced the seatbelt was frozen in its carrier with a tar like substance that dripped down from above . i kept the part.

 While driving 45mph another vehicle made a u turn without warning. voyager hit other vehicle which pulled over to the right, rearending vehicle. driver's side was damaged. upon impact, neither air bag deployed. 2 rear passengers were thrown forward into the bucket seats, even though both were buckled in. neither shoulder belts restrained the 100lb child or the 70lb child. paramedics arrived on scene & treated everyone. driver in hospital next day for torn ligaments & in need of therapy. *ak
