The problem started in may of 2003, originally. i bought the vehicle a 2000 plymouth voyager from a dealership in june 2003. it had 52,400 miles on it when i purchased it. i travel a lot mostly highway and put approximately 7800 miles on the vehicle since i bought the van. i noticed a leak on the ground in mid-october. before this i had noticed on three occasions mostly in the morning that the van would hesitate and no go forward when i stepped on the gas, then it would lunge forward, the same happened a couple of times when i tried to go in reverse. i thought it was because i had not warmed the van up in the a.m. then i noticed the leak and i took it to the nearest garage. i was told it was a transmission leak. they looked at it and said it had been fixed before and that my engine was soaked with transmission fluid. the clamps that were on the hoses were two big and the transmission pan was not put in correctly. i called the chrysler dealer ship and they stated they could not give me any documents regarding the repairs that the previous owner had done. however, the service man did say that they had the vehicle in may of 2003 because of leaks from the hoses of the transmission. they put new clamps on and that seemed to fix the problem. the day after i had the clamps done in october the van would not go into gear, then it would lunge forward. i would try to go forward and it would go backwards. i nearly got in to accidents getting it to the dealer. i took it to the chrysler dealership in bangor and they told me i needed a new transmission. it is actually a rebuilt one. it is costing me $2,525 total. i have looked into this a lot and this appears a common problem with this vehicle.

My van started emitting a whisling sound after the warranty of 30,000 miles ran out at 40,000 miles and eventually the transmission doesn't want to shift. i took it to the dealer and the owner said that he will eat the cost but i found out that they had sold my wife an extended warranty. now at 103,000, its doing the same thing of not shifting. the dealer said that we need to pay for the replacement.*ak

I purchased a new 2000 plymouth voyager minivan in november of 1999. in january 2002, at 38,000 miles, the transmission failed, stranding me on the side of the road. a local chrysler dealer diagnosed the cause as a failed torque converter. the torque converter, as well as several other transmission components, were replaced. in january 2003, at 55,000 miles, a transmission fluid leak was noticed. the same dealer repaired transmission fluid lines and seals, and changed the transmission fluid and filter. in november 2003, at 75,000 miles, the transmission failed again, leaving my children and i stranded on the roadside at night. another chrysler dealer diagnosed the problem as a second failed torque converter. *nlm

I have a 2000 plymouth voyager. i purchased it brand new in 12/00. i expereince a problem when shifting from park to reverse to drive. from a parked position, i put the vehicle in reverse and proceed to back up. once i have completed backing out, i put the vehicle in drive to (attempt) go forward. the vehicle is in drive, however the vehicle continues to go in reverse (several feet). i have tried shifting to overdrive, neutral, and park however the vehicle still continues to move in reverse. i have had the vehicle to the dealership 5 times and the problem still hasn't been resolved. this is a severe hazard as i have almost had several accidents, assuming the my vehicle should be moving forward when in drive. the service manager does not want to admit there is a problem, he blames it on me not putting my brake all the way down. i advised him that despite the position on my brake if the vehicle is in drive it should move forward or if it is in park it should not move at all. the vehicle eventually moves forward, but not until it is ready. my transmission fluid is clean and full. my mileage now is approx 25471. the vehicle is used for personal use only.

While driving home in a school at 20 mph the van shifted from drive to nuetral and back to drive . i thought van was killing after hearing a weird noise and looked to see the panel had registerd a problem and thats when i saw it shift from neutral to drive. when i got haome i called the dealer to bring it in and to set up a rental for me . when i got there he said they would only pay for i day of rental, and they would put the van through test and if they could not duplicate the problem then i can coome pick it up. i don't want to drive something that has not been cleared safe for my family and would like to return the vehicle it they can't find a problem. *ak

Checking under hood when vehicle was in park. when turned key to start engine the vehicle sliiped into neutral and ran back over me causing major injury. i believe in newer vehicles the interlock has been removed which may have prevented this accident, is this a true statement?*ak

My wife stopped to pickup our 6 y/o son from the babysitter. she put the van in park and left the van running. (the rest of the event was seen by my wife and the babysitter) my 3 y/o son climb out of his car seat , from the rear seat. he climbed into the driver seat and put the van in gear without pressing the brake. the van began to move forward down the street, picking up speed. wife tryed to catch the van to stop it. luckly my son turned the steering wheel to the left. the van jumped the curb and ran into a mobile home. every car i have driven, you must press the brake before the car will go into gear. the dealer didn't tell us of this feature. we would have bought another model(we have 3 kids). what i need to know is : being able to put the van into drive without pressing on the break , a safty recall?*ak
