Defect SummaryCertain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. these brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. when subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.
Consequence SummaryLoss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryAffinia (brake parts, inc.) will replace the subject brake hydraulic master cylinders free of charge. the recall began on march 20, 2006. owners can contact affina group customer service at 1-800-323-0354.

I bought the van used in late sept. 2002 with 22,000 miles on it. did not buy ext. warranty. by the time i used the 1.ac in the spring it didn't work, warranty was expired. replaced compressor, not at the dealer, then found out evaporator was bad too. no more money, still driving with no ac. 2. horn didnt work. i paid to fix it. 3. have replaced brakes twice in 3 years. abs light was on for 6 months then went off. 4. intermittent problem ..door locks go up and down by themselves, while there are bells dinging, and the interior lights flash on and off all at the same time. look like some kind of christmas tree on wheels going down the road. unable to duplicate for the dealer. not fixed. 5. six times in the last week van has stalled. 5 when turning and once while at a stoplight. unable to duplicate for the dealer. not fixed. 6. while there for the stalling, had them look at the recall for airbag because the light stays on longer than all the others, they said it was fine and didn't need to be fixed..... these are a few of the things i can remember. i will also remember not to buy another chrysler.

We purchased the vehicle because it only had 21,486 at three years old and they called it certified. when the air conditioning went out they refused to even reimburse us part of it because we did not have the extended warranty. we have the powertrain a this point until 70,000 miles. we have had engine knocking, which our mechanic added an additive to and seemed to go away but now at the end of august seems to be returning. the tires were terrible at what seemed to us to be low mileage. we had sensors that went and caused the transmission to downwshift so our mechanic repaired. we have submitted that one bill to chrysler because it turns out it was a powertrain issue on that. we have not received reimbursement yet. when the brakes went metal to metal totally without warning on august 23 we began to wonder if our odometer had been turned back before we bought it but are now thinking it is just a very cheap, shoddy vechicle and we are so sorry we have bought it and wasted this much money on it. we went back to the dealer, suncoast chrysler plymouth when the air went out and they refused to do anything. we went back again to the general manager at the end of august trying to find a way to get out of this and get our money back or at the very least help with the extremely expensive brake repair and they said there is nothing they can do. the engine does not sound good now so we are expecting anything to happen next.

Heard loud growling noise from brakes when applied, right front brake locked when brakes were applied in a panic stop was told by dealer this was normal as the meatering devise on the master cylinder would not give a 50/50 amount of pressure to the front brakes at the same time??????? i was schocked by this statement,i feel after 3 repair attempts that the brakes foer a 4,ooo lb van are too small, this is evedent by the pad smell after desending a mountian road at a slow speed, also the brake pedal fades after 6 stop and go attempts at a slow speed, also in the morning the brake pedal is very hard to apply, this the dealer told me was due to the fact that a small amount of moisure and brake pad dust were in the rotors and will burn off after a few miles,i hope no one pulls out in front of me on my street.i i hope you people reshearch the brakes on these vans, you might be able to save a life or two,my confidence is totalty gone in regards to the stopping of this van. *ak

On a 2000 plymouth voyager with 14 inch wheels (non-abs), when replacing the front brake pads i noticed that the brake caliper piston was cracked and chipped in numerous places at the outer edge and there were small pieces of the metal piston missing - the missing metal were the size of m&m's. no noticeable problem was detected with the brake pad backing or the rotor. no force was used to remove the caliper or the pad - so this must have happened just while in service. this was only on the passenger side.*jb

Problems with vehicle's battery, master cylinder, tensioner, air conditioner and serpentine belt.*mr the main problem was the air conditioner. all the expenses were very frustrating, especially with low mileage. in addition, consumer felt the extended warranty for 2001, 2002, and 2003 voyagers with air conditioner problems, should've been extended to 2000 voyagers. *ph *jb
