Engine failure cylinders filling with coolant. talked with several independent garages and they say it's a common occurrence with the 3800 v6. spoke with pontiac dealer in gainesville ga. according to parts/service department there are no tech bulletins released from gm. wanted to know if there have been other complaints re: 1995 pontiac bonneville's 3800 v6's. according to independent garage the intake gasket and head gaskets failures. the car also has a water leak into the passenger cabin and trunk as well, appears to leaked since it was manufactured. i owned an oldsmobile with a similar problem in 1992 and the factory didn't seal the cowl area properly when the car was assembled. thanks for your input! *jb

The exterior paint on the vehicle is flaking off, something that the auto body shop refers to as delamination... seems to occur a great deal on 1995 pontiac bonnevilles. *ak

In july 2000, the trunk seal failed resulting in substantual water leakage into the trunk. water was hidden under trunk lining until entire wheel well was full. on october 1st the 1st tail light literally fell out. upon inspection we found the second tail light was being held by one plastic piece. the problem is the entire tail light assembly tail lights, brake lights, back indicators, are held on by 4 or 5 bolts affixed to plastic housings. those housings have all broken off and the entire tail light assembly is left hanging. a danger when driving since they are hanging off the back of the car, and a saafety problem should the wiring fail and no illuminate the tail lights, brake lights, and blinkers. replacement tail lights are estimated to be $250.00 each and still have the plastic bolt housings which will undoubtably break again.

My nephew was driving his 1995 pontiac bonneville and turned into a driveway. at that time, the rear body to subframe mounts failed, as the bolts pulled through the mild steel retainer disks that had been weakened by rust caused the rear of the subframe to drop away from the body of the car, pulling the steering shaft out of its socket. this caused an immediate and total loss of steering. it seems likely that a weakened mount retainer disk might fail under vehicle acceleration at higher speeds. the mounts were replaced with new ones, which appeared to be made of mild steel. the shape of the part is such that it seems likely water and road salt would collect and weaken the part. stainless or another alloy might be a better choice. *jb
