Tl*the contact owns a 2000 pontiac bonneville. the front and rear driver side power windows fell down. the failure occurred when the vehicle drove over a bump at 25 mph and also when the window was being rolled down. the glass did not break. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer, but the contact disconnected the regulator. the aluminum rims corroded on the inside and caused the tires to leak air. the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 94,540.

Passenger window back left. window came down while driving. could not put window back up using the power button. had to put it up using both hands--one on outside of window--one on inside of window. window was repaired by local mechanic. he stated that the regulator was bad and this had to be replaced with power window motor/regulator assm. he also said that i should contact general motors because he didn't feel this should have happened with this young a car. cost of repair was $375.48 total. this was on my 2000 pontiac bonneville. i feel i should be reimbursed this expense.*ak

I've had 8 failures where the power windows fall down without warning. the first two failures were under warranty. since then he regulators had to be replaced at a cost of $200 to $250 each. i stopped using the power windows years ago but they still keep breaking. on the last two occurrences i glued the windows closed with construction adhesive. probably not the safest thing to do but i'm done paying for a factory defect. one broke and fell down when the door was closed, five broke and fell down while driving and two broke and fell down while the car was parked. *tr

I purchased a gm certified 2000 pontiac bonneville in may 2002. since that time i have had to replace 3 window regulators in the vehicle, one for the drivers door and one each for the back doors. this seems to be quite excessive for a vehicle that is only 5 years old & has less than 80k miles on it. further, i have a small child so i can count on one hand the number of times that i have lowered the rear windows. i am confident that this is not a wear-and-tear issue, since i have replaced both regulators with gm parts and as i stated seldom roll the windows down. i have noted an approximate date for the first incident below. the most recent replacement was in august 2005.*jb

Within a months time i have had to replace both rear window regulator assemblies in my 2000 pontiac bonneville. the first window went down on its own and would not go back up. less than a month later, the other window did the same. i took the car to a local dealership on 2 separate occasions to have this fixed. these parts are very expensive. i find it odd that a 5 year old car with only 60,000 miles should have such a problem, especially in such a short period of time. could you give me some insight on why this could be. *jb

2000 pontiac bonneville with 32,000 miles. the drivers side rear door window dropped out of track while driving. i do not use the rear windows and it was in the up position and not in use. so far i have taken it to a body shop and had them prop the window up temporarily. they advised me to get it fixed because of fear the side air bag may be affected by disconnecting the power to the window. i called the dealer in our town and asked if there have been others with this problem and they said not that they were aware of. i was told they don't sell the track separately from the whole assembly including the motor and the cost of parts would be at least $350.00. i know of another owner with the same year and model as mine and both of their rear windows did this in a matter of days of each other. he lives in my town and this makes me think it must be a widespread problem. i saw another complaint like mine on this website and would like to have an investigation to see how many of these rear window fixes have been done in hopes of getting financial help from the manufacturer. *jb

I have had my 2000 bonneville in the shop several times for various reasons. my radio had to be replaced, my drivers side window stopped working and they replaced the motor, now my passenger side window does not work and needs to be repaired. my trunk leaked and was told the extended warrenty did not cover it and the expense was on me. my air conditioner would blow cold air and then hot air or not blow cold air at all, it was in the shop 2-3 times for that. now my car hesitates when speeding up and you can feel it jerking into gear when it shifts between 1st and 2nd gear or 2nd and 3rd. for this reason i had my transmission fluid replaced and an additive put in and was told this should take care of the problem. it has not!! my next step is to take it back to the dealership to find the problem. is there anything i should know about concerning the transmission jerking, recalls,etc..? *ak

The motors for the windows in my vehicle are an engineering defect. the motor for the drivers window went out. i've never had a motor for a window go out before however i know it does happen and i do use this window probably once a week or so. the problem is that i use my car for work only and all my children are grown. both back window motors have also gone out and total for the back to windows they have been rolled down 5 times only by accident when i was intending to roll down the drivers window. at $350.00 to repair the back windows have been made to stay permanently shut. i don't think it would be very safe to have all the windows made to not roll down but it is agrivating that i should have to pay for their poor design.*ak
