The key will not turn in the ignition to start the engine and/or to stop the engine. i was told that the key was worn out and needed to be replaced but this did not fix the problem. this has occurred on a daily basis sometimes not allowing the vehicle to be turned off and at other times not allowing the vehicle to start up. if the vehicle stalls on a busy highway and cannot be started, this is a serious safety concern as well as if the vehicle cannot be shut down in case of an accident or fire.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 saturn vue. while driving 40 mph, the contact slammed on the brakes and struck a dog. the front fender and bumper were damaged. the contact was not injured. the fog lights were detached from the vehicle and the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the air bags failed to deploy. the dealer stated that the air bags did not deploy because the seat heater circuit was connected to the air bag sensor. repairs could not be made to the air bag or air bag sensor because the element burned out. the failure and current mileages were less than 50,000.

My 2006 saturn view was discovered to have wiring located directly above the fuel tank chewed causing the metal exposure of the wire. this wire was not shielded, as should be, and due to location above fuel tank could have been a deadly situation due plastic fuel hoses just below the wires. all wiring into the fuel tank and adjacent to fuel lines should have extra shielding in case of not only chewing by rodents but possible rubbing actions. *tr

2006 saturn vue with 18,000 miles. three times, while my 73 year old mother was driving, the entire warning light cluster has come on while driving. the first occurrence she pulled over and stopped the motor. she restarted it and the lights remained on for about 1 mile, the vehicle seemed to be working okay, then the lights went out before she got home. she reported it to the dealer (it is a lease vehicle). they asked her to drive it in the following day; they could not duplicate the problem and returned the car to her. the same thing happened about two weeks later. this time the lights remained on and the dealer said it was traced to a bad electrical connector. they replaced the connector and returned the vehicle to mom. about two weeks later the lights all came and the electronic power steering system failed. mom could barely turn the wheel enough to pull over. fortunately she was stopped at the time talking to a friend on the street near her house. if she had been in traffic there surely would have been an accident. the dealer sent a tow truck right away and picked up the vehicle. they have replaced an electronic module and the lights stayed on; they now have changed the main computer and a totally different bank of lights came on. now they are working on getting her a different vehicle, one that she can feel safe in. even if they replace everything in that vue and get the lights to stay off she does not feel confident about driving it -- if the steering fails in traffic there will be a wreck and possible injury/death. the dealership in colorado springs where she leased it from is doing everything they can to make things right -- their service has been great, just a piece of junk system in the 2006 vue. *tr

Saturn vue 6 cylinder, since we bought it key is hard to turn. once almost had to stay overnight on way home from vacation, because car wouldn't start. was under warranty so they supposedly changed the cylinder. i was able to start car, but nobody else can. mentioned it again to dealership and they gave me new keys, several times. this past weekend my son borrowed the car and had lots of trouble turning the key, so took the car in to saturn again and he said the key was worn and after we kind of argued about it, he admitted it was a very common problem of saturn. went in on internet and found it is more than common. don't know what dealer will do for me, i just have 3000 miles left on warranty, but i left car there, because last week i also took it in for a grinding metal sound and was told it was the timing belt, which they changed, but within two days the sound was back, so i left it there hoping against all odds that they will truly fix it. there really should be a recall for the ignition key problem, since in 1 1/2 years time they haven't been able to fix it right. the mechanic actually indicated it could not be fixed, because there is a design flaw. *tr

Multiple occurrences of keyed ignition switch locking up and no allowing vehicle operation (more than 6). thank god there was no emergency necessitating immediate use of our vehicle. just episodes of being late to work and getting home from work. finally the vehicle as towed to the dealer. we were informed this was known issue with the saturn vue. but there was no recall they manufacturer just lets its customers swing in the wind until it fails for good presumably they think they are saving money but not so if they are on the hook for the towing while under warranty. which is why they manufacturer's failure to notify owners and recall for this problem is inexcusable! *tr

Bought this vehicle brand new. some other minor problems waiting to be fixed. as i see others are having the same problems. major problem: key and tumbler will not work. first time was shocking to me. took me over 1/2 hour to get it to work. ok now i am not stranded. called dealer, they were great, replaced the tumbler assembly. shortly the problem came back. called the dealer. they then replaced the housing and tumbler. work good for a while. but still will some minor hang ups. for a 3rd time it got stuck so bad i was stuck. got the key to finally turn the car on and it ruined our vacation because we could not trust the vehicle to work properly and dealer was closed. the tumbler again was replaced. i was told the brass in there was broke and the housing looked fine. i am waiting for it to break again and cannot trust my vehicle at only 18k. sad don't you think. if i was really thinking right within my first year i could have filed the lemon law on this vehicle easy. no tumbler should break or wear out the easily. i was told that saturn has a report to make sure the customer does not have a large ring full of keys because that may wear out the tumblers. this is not he problem here. it is an obvious defective engineering design flaw or just cheap materials, metals or assembly techniques. then need to solve this quickly. would you buy a new saturn when your friend is stuck because his key does not turn the new vehicle on? dealer was great this is not a problem with the dealer. they are simply replacing bad parts with bad parts and doing all they can with what they can. *tr

I own a 1998 sc2 and a 2006 saturn vue. i have been having problems with the ignition locking, i.e. you put the key in the ignition, attempt to start the vehicle and the key won't turn. this had been happening on my 98 for several years and it's always been resolved by jiggling the steering wheel, which then loosened the key, so i always thought it was due to the key or lock wearing down. about 2 months ago the same issue started occurring with my 2006 saturn vue. i again figured maybe the keys were wearing down quickly, so i switched to my spare and the issue seemed to resolve itself. a few weeks later the same ignition lock up started happening again, on the vue, you would put the key in the ignition, and you just couldn't turn it, the steering wheel would also lock with very little play. the issue was again always resolved by jiggling the steering wheel and the key. the dealership is an hour away from my home, and since it seemed to be resolved with steering wheel jiggling, it wasn't a top priority on my list. tonight was the be all end all-i got in my car to go to an appointment and the steering wheel completely locked up and the key wouldn't turn at all. i had to have a tow truck come out and take my car to saturn to have this fixed. the tow truck driver was able to finally jiggle it and get it turned. this is ridiculous- i'm lucky i was at home when this happened. i often attend dog shows out of the area-what would i have done if i had my dogs with me hours away from home? worse-what if i had children? i've done a search on this problem with saturns and it seems to be a common issue. they really need to fix this problem. *tr
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - IGNITION - SWITCH

#1. ignition switch failure. key gets stuck in ignition switch, causing the key to not be able to be turned or to be removed. #2. steering is vague and hard to keep pointed in one direction, possibly due to the use of electronic steering. also; the car sways profoundly over uneven surfaces, due to the suspension design. this lack of suspension design integrity, coupled with the use of electronic steering causes the vehicle to operate in an unsafe manner,(causing the vehicle to meander from side to side, often into other lanes of traffic, unless the driver is constantly correcting the steering input). please help to force saturn to recall these vehicles for the safety of the public! please note that i have driven other saturn vue's, and they all seem to behave the same way. thank you! *nm
