| I stopped at a gas station yesterday morning to put air in my tire and had my son with me , i left car in park with engine running , when done i was putting my son back into car seat , i leaned into car with my back to the steering wheel leaning over the driver seat fixing to buckle car seat when out of nowhere the airbag deployed from the steering wheel and hit me on the left side of my back and now ther are 3 huge bruises which i have taken pics of , ther was a man at the gas pump who saw and heard the comotion he came over from the gas pumps to help me , its my opinion that the airbag should not have deployed for any reason other than a wreck , and now i cant get the dealships to even look to see why it deployed without money because it is an older car which should make no difference , its my opinion that they should always check something like that for anyone that has a failure of such a kind without just cause and fix it without predijuce if thers no reason on the owners part it deployed , it should have never deployed without proper cause and now the steering wheel is crooked and the airbag hanging out , please help i have no idea of wat to do about this , i own my car , i need it to transport my kids , any help would be greatly appreciated , thank you for your time . | |||

| On 2/6/00, the airbag deployed while i was a passenger in my totota camry. the driver was slightly injured; i sustained back injureis. two children in the back seat were terrifed. we were driving along a road near the eel river in mendocino county, ca when it suddently deployed. i purchased this usde vehicle in july 1999 from airport auto brokers which disavows any responsibility. i brought my car to thurston toyota in ukiah and was told it was a code 14 failure. i was told that the toyota regional representative jeff buchanan would do nothing, and that i should call customer service. i called customer service and filed a claim #200002290983.and told it will be inspected and that the legal dept. will make a deicision in 60 days. my understanding from thurston toyota is that mr. buchanan does not believe toyota has a responsibility because the warranty has expired, even though the product is defective. please initiate an investigation. i am concerned about driving this car as i do not believe it is safe. *ak | |||
