The right rear door has remained frozen since oct.'98. the dealer quoted a price of $500 and remarked that they would not be responsibe for any damages to the door. i feel that it is not entirely safe to be driving with only 3 functional doors and am afraid that the same problem could occur with one or more of the other doors. the child safety locks are not on in the defective door.

Failures on hood supports started in 1993 and have failed solid ever since then, called toyota national number, and the recommendation was either to buy both new supports (they are very expensive), or find some at the junk yard! no ownership has been taken by the toyota corp for these component failures. i see that you have done an investigation nhtsa #pe96040. i would like to know what the investigation revealed. your customer complaint file on the toyota camry must have at least 50 complaints on these components, with at least several injuries to the customer. it doesn't seem reasonable for customers to have to keep the hood up with sticks, tools, or any makeshift objects on this expensive an automobile! this is definitely a safety hazard! the hood on this car could give you a severe concussion at the very least. i am just getting ready to take a long trip and am determined to fix this hazard one way or another before i leave. as you can see from the mileage, i don't drive this car very much, with just 14,000 miles and 7 years ownership. i think toyota corp should address this problem they have been ignoring, and fix this safety hazard! *ak
