| Engine compartment hood support failure, the hood will not stay in the up position, pe96-040. *ak consumer also stated that brake computer failed vehicle was on cruise control at 55 mph on highway, and consumer applied her foot to brake due to build up of traffic ahead, and cruise control did not disengage so that vehicle surges foward and almost hit another vehicle, ealer stated it was due to computer not reconizing consumer's foot therfore not engaging cruise control, also entire exhaust system fell off the mainfold due to being held on oly by a thin piece of solder when vehicle was about only 20 months old.*jb | |||

| 1992 toyota camry brake failure *gr the consumer stated the brake pedal went down to the floor with no warning and without any resistance. all the pedal pushing was useless. if the consumer turned the vehicle off for about 5 minutes and then restarted it, the brake pedal would resume normal operation. the consumer went to a brake shop and they suggested flushing the old brake fluid. since the fluid was changed, the consumer has not experienced another brake failure. *jb | |||

| My car stopped for a red light and i was first in line to proceed onto highway #290. i went up the ramp and my car took off on its own and i could not brake or steer my car. car crashed into a tree and stopped. my airbag deployed. i was hurt facially and i unstrapped my seat belt and got out of the car and sat on the ground waiting for help. car behind me stopped to help and called 911 for ambulance and police using my cell phone. my car was considered a total loss by my insurer. i did not have the car checked by a mechanic because i was advised it could take a couple of years to be heard in court and in the meantime, i would have to pay for storage and would not have the money for a down payment. my insurance company deemed the accident my fault and i have been heavily surcharged which i am in the process of appealing. any information you can share with me regarding similar problems might be helpful in my fight. | |||

| Dt: the contact changed the disc brakes shoe pads because his wife was complained that brakes failed, and there was extended stopping distance. afterwards , the contact parked in a parking stall at home. then the contact just pulled out of the way, and with hand still on the shift indicator there was sudden acceleration with the vehicle in reverse. the contact claimed he did not place the vehicle in reverse. this caused the vehicle to accelerate backwards into a brick wall. there was extensive damage to the car. the vehicle has not been to a dealership. neighbors helped to push the vehicle back into the parking space. no repairs or corrections have been made at this time. his was the first incident of this type other than the brake pads. when trying to stop the car the brakes would have to be pumped but never accelerating backwards. *ak | |||
