 Tl* the contact owns a 1992 toyota camry. the contact stated when driving at speeds between 25 to 30 mph, he would experience sudden acceleration and a stuck brake pedal. he was able to slow the vehicle by repeatedly depressing the brake pedal. the contact had not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was contacted but would provide no assistance. the failure mileage was 143,000.

 Several times in the last 6 months since my wife purchased a previously owned 1992 toyota camry, the car has accelerated on it's own with no one depressing the accelerator pedal. she said it feels as though the cruise control system has taken over control of the car. this phenomenon has taken place at speeds above 55 mph and as slow as 15 mph. a co-worker of my wife's sister has a toyota and has described exactly the same thing happening while she is driving her car. *tr

 1992 v6 3.0 camry history of multiple problems and repairs, good maint. record, none covered recognized by toyoya warranty. engine and steering and suspension in this car and many others is llisted as significant problems in research reports for a reason. manufacturing, engineering design all problem areas. driving car at slow speed, had uncontrollabe pull to left and surging car into a wall. driver airbag and sustained nonlife threatening injuries. property damage to wall and to car significant. investigator says most likely rack and pinion steering at fault. reading up on toyota cars with v6 3.0 engine and design of car, believe this car and others share the same problems, so complicated, difficult costly to address, toyota choosing to ignore addressing problems. this car is xample of one vehicle been around many years and what ultimately can happen when the problems not fixed. believe design flaws significant and dangerous safety hazard. believe in the v6 engines and steering design( same design some lexus and other toyota models ) are persistant problems. only matter of time before lives will be lost due to what i think is negligence in acknowledging (not fixing the problems which may not be fixable which in that case the cars should be recalled.overwhelming cost, see why toyota would not want to do that.) unfortunately, doesnt stop problems risks for people with these cars. really believe if get a list of all the cars out there with the v6 engine and the steering desing as in this camry, you would find the same type consistent problems and key to what really is causing them to sludge, blow head gaskets, catch fire, blue smoke, sieze surge forward pull to the left in a matter of anything from wandering to uncontrollable pulling into head on traffic. problems are clearly noted and repeated in the little time i have spent reviewing complaints. it should be more readily available for toyota to look into. *ak

 Upon accelerating in reverse, my car shot back and hit a tree 13 feet from my back fender. it was after noticing that my exhaust system might possibly be damaged that i proceeded to get into the car to gently pull the car away from the tree and upon putting the gear into drive from park, my car then shot forward at approx. 40 mph. i was told by the mechanic - greg fields at bill page toyota that i had a sticky throttle plate, and that is why my car jutted forward. although he recommends that it be cleaned every 30,000 miles due to the oxygenated gas that is sold in this state, thus resulting in a dirty throttle plate- or accelerator plate, this is not written as a regular maintenence proceedure in our 1992 toyota owner's manual. the bodily injury that could have occurred by this oout of control car could have been astronomical. the young su. *ak

 The accelerator pedal get stuck when pressing the pedal, needs to brake in order to stop and reach down to the pedal to move out of the stuck position. cause unknown. will be taking to the dealer. please provide further information. *ak

 When the consumer shifted the gear to drive, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning colliding into a light pole.*ak vehicle hit a light pole no more than 8 feet from start, jumped over a low wall, went onto the sidewalk, went down a step into the street traveling in the direction of oncoming traffic. consumer managed to steer the vehicle onto the sidewalk to prevent a terrible accident. mechanic disabled the cruise control. *ph

 When waiting at a light, the engine rpm goes up and engine shuts off. you also smell rich fumes. then you must wait 20 30 minutes before engine will start up again, and then shutting off again, and sometimes rpm stays up and wont go down and floods out the engine.

 After driving in a parking space, consumer took vehicle out of the drive gear, with the intention of placing vehicle into park, instead vehicle gear stopped in the neutral positon, causing vehicle to increase speed. vehicle went 40 feet before consumer was able to bring vehicle to a stop. *ak
