The electric driver side mirror quit operating. it first quit moving up and down and now it will not move side to side. appears to be a short from an electrical defect.

I stopped my car at my mailbox at the foot of my 45% incline short driveway and put it in park with the engine running. after getting out to get my mail, i re-entered the car, put the car in drive, and touched the accelerator. the car engine roared more loudly than i had ever heard and lunged forward uphill towards my brick home. i slammed the brake pedal one time as hard as i could and the car stopped. i had not expected it to stop. there was not collision, but thank god i did not kill or injure some innocent person or myself. i now refuse to drive the car, which is a real problem for me and my family. i understand your agency has failed to force toyota to include the 2005 model in your recall to install new braking system override. this is unconscionable.

When driving on highway, there was some noise coming from the engine compartment, and suddenly i lost power steering and lights flashed on the front panel. i managed hard to pull off the vehicle from the highway, it was so hard make turns to the ramp. the engine temperature started to fluctuate. there was little smoking come out, i had to stop there. it was turned out there was a belt fell out and my alternator eventually died. my car is 4-cylinder, not 6.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 toyota camry. while driving approximately 40 mph he noticed that the heater was not working properly. the heater was on and it only blew hot air at the bottom, he stated the defroster blows outside air. when this happens the dashboard gets very cold to the touch. he stated he went to the dealer at 30,000 miles and was advised that all heaters worked that way. at 58,988 miles he takes the vehicle back to the dealer and he was advised that the mixture value needs replacement. he was advised by the dealer that the manufacture knows there was a problem but they do not know how to remedy the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the approximate current mileage was 83,000. vwb

Accleration failed on 2005 camry. could have been killed by cars behind me, had enough coast to get to next exit. called toyota about the repair and they said no recall, and there should be. if toyota would have fixed it, it would have been over $1500.00, so we had it towed to a repair shop and the repair was $454.00 and loss of car for 7 days. the diagnosis was the digital throttle was bad. you could push the peddel all the way to the floor with no response. imagine being out on the interstate and this happens. i only have 84,500 on this car and this happens. very concened about this on the camry. there should be a recall on this as well. diagnosis check was ran and the repair shop will be glad to provide any information you may need. just glad that i was not killed.

Tl*- the contact owns a 2005 toyota camry. while driving approximately 5 mph into the driveway, the vehicle accelerated and crashed into pellets of stone. there was no personal injury. the front passenger fender sustained damages. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and repaired for the body damage. the technician stated the failure was contributed to driver error associated to an accidental engagement of the accelerator pedal. additionally, the vehicle alarm system activated without assistance spontaneously causing the power doors not to lock. the authorized dealer was unable to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failures, and the contact was waiting a response. the failure mileage was 2,000. the current mileage was 20,000. the vin was unknown.

I have a 2005 camry. i know it is not part of the recall, but for the past 2-3 years i have had this sporadic problem. when i am stopped at a stop light sometimes it surges forward...not always a lot, but sometimes quite hard. i started keeping track and it doesn't matter if it is cold engine or warm engine. then just the other day my radio shut off and the interior lights while i was driving, and came back on within a few seconds. because it is so sporadic, like it will do it for 2-3 days and then not for 2-3 days, to have someone check it they said i would have to leave it in the shop and i need a car to go to work. to have it checked involves a lot of time and money according to the dealership. i don't know what the problem is, but it seems like it must be electrical...how do i know????

I have been a loyal toyota owner for 20 years and i would like to tell you about my latest experience with my 2005 toyota camry. after 91,000 miles, i needed to get a new transmission. i typically drove my toyota to 150,000 miles and never had any problems with the power train. i contacted toyota customer service, they initially said they might be able to help me but never followed up. i tried to contact customer service, but could not get through. i recently had my car repaired for $3300 at aamco to get it drivable. they had to fix the transmission and the wiring to get the car working again. several electrical connectivity issues existing; and still remain. the only good news was the ecm was operating correctly. now that aamco fixed my car, i

Car located in omaha, ne, being driven east from 42nd and curtis avenue, downhill at approximately 41st and curtis ave (car speed up on level area to compensate for the computer systems ability to slow the car down or prevent coasting), my 2005 toyota se hit a parked car, airbags deployed and the car continued to drive an additional block after the brakes were applied. car hit a dirt road/ditch and bounced and landed into a private yard located on the southeast side of the road. the hill in the private yard stopped the car from continuing on. *tr

2005 toyota camry xle--beginning in march 2007 my camry began to accelerate from a stopped position. my camry would take off at high speeds from a complete stop and applying the gas pedal. this occurred several times. i took my car to my dealer bill page toyota in falls church, va. the first time the acceleration occurred was after 2 years and in march 2007. i was on constitution avenue, right lane in dc--which either turns right or goes straight. constitution avenue is 3 or 4 lanes each east and westbound--i was heading eastbound. when the light turned green, the car in front of me turned right, thank goodness because as i took my foot off the brake and unto the gas, my car shot forward so fast my brakes wouldn't stop my car. upon slamming on the brakes which were shuddering so badly, i thought my car was never going to stop and hit the next car (rush hour). i stopped short of hitting that car. i was so scared. my service manager said couldn't reproduce and that there was nothing wrong with my brakes or car. he told me that the shuttering is normal when i slam on my brakes--a safety feature to stop the car. computer said nothing wrong. had the acceleration problem at least 3 more times. i was at a parking meter, 1st space. got into my car, turned on the key, released my emergency brake, and took my foot off the brake and unto the gas. i wanted to make a right turn. there were 2 people on the sidewalk, and thankfully they did not walk in front of my car--i would have run over them. my car took off so fast from a stopped position that i had a hard time stopping my car. i immediately took my 2005 camry to the dealer. again service manager told me computer says there is nothing wrong with my car--think computer/software glitch. last week toyota corp said won't fix b/c not on recall and only intermittent, which is the problem. told me i own the car, it's out of warranty won't pay to fix. help! when driving it's like russian roulette! *tr

I have a 2005 toyota camry xle. i had two instanaces of spontaneous acceleration. /oth happened when my foot was on the brake pedal and had been on the brake pedal. there was no sticking accelerator involved. we brought the car to the toyota dealership in berlin vt. the mechanics hooked the car to their computer diagnositics and replaced an electonic sensor and i have never had the problem since. this happened around june of 09. i would think that the dealership should have records of this repair. it is hard to believe that that this is unrelated to the present problem. my car year was not in the recall. *tr

Dt: the caller said two weeks after she bought vehicle it stalled at an intersection. she had it towed to the dealer, and they had it for 2 days. dealer got it started and found nothing wrong with it. when they did a diagnostic they could not duplicate the problem. they told her to drive it, and if it happens again ,to leave it where it was, and they will come and get it. the second time they had it they replaced the crank sensor, but said they found nothing again after doing a diagnostic. manufacturer said the vehicle was fixed. the caller still had concerns about the vehicle being safe. caller has one close call.*ak

The retaining nut for the alternator pulley came off the shaft causing the pulley to wobble which led to the loss of the serpentine belt; without the belt i lost power steering, the battery began to run low and the engine started to overheat. fortunately i was 2 miles from home and was able to make it there w/o any damage to the vehicle. the vehicle was still under warranty, ~19,000 miles on the odometer, and was repaired by the dealer. the belt and the alternator assembly were replaced. *tr
