I was driving home on a rainy day and when i tried to brake, they were not responsive and i had to drive off the highway to avoid hitting another vehicle. when i proceeded to accelerate, the pedal got stuck and kept accelerating. i took it to the toyota dealership and they told me nothing was wrong and they could not reproduce the same scenario. instead they gave me a list of other issues that needed to be taken care of. i kindly declined. *tr

My 6-cylinder camry xle was wrecked in an accident because the brakes failed the pedal would not depress. the camry was serviced regularly at a toyota dealer. it had less than 49,000 miles on it and was in excellent condition. at the time of the accident, the road, weather, and visibility were good. i wasn't speeding, texting, phoning, eating, drinking, or being distracted from driving in any way. there was only one cause for the accident the brake pedal would not depress. only seconds before i used the brake twice at low speeds. it was not human error. it was mechanical failure. other cases involving the camry 2007 have been reported on the u.s. department of transportation, national highway traffic safety administration's (nhtsa) complaint web portal, edmunds.com and carcomplaints.com. similar to the other incidents, there was no warning; i had applied my brakes at stops only seconds earlier. it was a harrowing experience. i couldn't stop for a red light and crashed with another car. i saw the red light with plenty of time to stop if only the brakes had worked! i and the other driver walked away, but my car was totaled and the other driver's car was damaged. similar to the other incidents, toyota could not detect or replicate the problem. but that does not mean it didn't exist. this is a very dangerous situation that must be addressed. it is my opinion that toyota should issue a recall to the public. i've talked to a couple of master mechanics and they quickly replied that the problem was a power brake assist failure. despite my phone calls to toyota's north american headquarters and ultimately a letter to the ceo, toyota denied responsibility and my claim. *tr

The first indication was the crl came on with codes p0171 and then p0174. when pressing the brake pedal down, there is a hissing noise and the brake pedal would basically go all the way to the floor. it sounds as if this has happened quite a bit with this model and should be looked into. the dealer has told me that the brake booster must be replaced and that the vehicle is not safe to drive at this point. *tr

I have had my front rotors resurfaced due warpage on two different occasions (9/2010 & 9/2012-80k). the issue can be seen primarily when driving at highway speeds and then slowing down to get on off ramp, where car would shake uncontrollably to the point of steering wheel shaking out of your hand when brakes were applied. other times steering would visibly shake, but not to the point of shaking out of your hand, when traveling in town at lower speeds when stopping at stop lights. *tr

On april 27, 2010, i was backing out of a parking space. i usually back out of a parking space very slowly so that i can stop at anytime. after i had cleared the parking space and before i could exchange gears, the car (2007 toyota camry) kept on reversing. i put my foot on tne break but the car did not stop. it stopped when it hit a van which was adjacent to a police car. luckily the poilice officer witnessed the entire accident. when the police officer approached my car he stated that i thought you were going to hit me. i replied by saying myy car would not stop; i could stop the car. i informed the police officer that when i put my foot on the brake, the car continued to accelerate. the police report indicates that there was a problem with the acceleration. this statement is also want the mechanic said when he put the car in reverse to work on the car.

I was driving for work with my toyota camry 2007. while accelerating to get on the highway, around the end of the ramp, my vehicle suddenly accelerated with no controls working from the driver's seat either for the steering wheel or the brake. in a matter of a few seconds, the vehicle went a few times in a zig-zag manner and subsequently hit a semi-trailer which was southbound on the highway. my car was completely smashed in the front and totaled later. this incident occurred after my car went through the accelerator pedal replacement as per recommedations of the toyota recall procedure. i could have been easily killed in this accident. i got a traffic ticket for the first time in my life after having a ticket-free driving record for the past 11+ years. i am pleading 'not guilty' for this ticket because the defective toyota car was responsible for the accident and not my error.

I have a 2007 toyota camry lxe. a driver decided to move into my lane from the left, to avoid a serious collision i had to swerve to the right and hit the brakes. my anti-lock brakes locked and i had no control over the car as we skidded across four lanes and hit a concrete wall. the air bags did not deploy and the seat belts (which were in use) did not lock us in. my wife hit the inside ceiling and the right window of the front door. i tried to find an attorney to go after toyota but could not find one who had the guts to stand up to toyota. there wasover $14,500 in repairs and as of today they are still putting the car back together again.

: my toyota 2007 subject : brake master cylinder make / model years : camary you have listed the 2004-2006 models but i took my 2007 to the conyers, georgia, dealership for maintenance and this is the exact same defect they wanted me to pay for. i didn't have the money so they told me to just keep the brake fluid full. i need you to cover this replacement charges for my brake master cylinder. their finding is also documented in the computer for that repair asssessment, at the shop for that maintenance visit. i also was given a copy.

2007 toyota camry. initially when the car was turned on the brake light, and abs light would come on along with the tacometer, speedometer would begin racing while in park. at this time the engine cooling system would go down to c this happened half a dozen times and it was taken to toyota dealers. i spent 618.00 for repairs and i was told the car was fixed. toyota dealer also stated i was able to drive the car and there would be no problems. after spending money for repairs within 24 hours the problem began again. now this time not only when you were in park would the lights come on the began coming on while i was driving. so i could not tell what speeds i was doing and unable to tell if i had brakes when the light came on. so it was taken back to the same dealership and this time they want to replace skid control ecu/actuator per tech line and want me to spend over 2000.00 to fix the problem even though i have a bill of sale that states problem was fixed just days before

My car is a 2007 camry xlev6, and was not listed as part of the toyota recall (it has locking mats). pulled into driveway at my home, with foot on brakes as i touched auto garage door opener on visor. car gear was in d. as i removed foot from brake to gas pedal to pull into garage, and lightly placed foot on accelerator, instantaneously engine revved, pedal went to floor, tach zoomed and auto jetted into garage. i immediately hit brakes with both feet, attempting to disengage transmission from d and put into n. gear shift erratically plunged into r and car began to go backwards with engine throttle wide open. again, with tires squealing, smoking & laying rubber, i tried to jam gearshift to n or p, and car jettisoned forward hitting garage wall at full force. with millisecond recovery, i held onto gearshift

I have a 2007 japanese-made camry. i bought at a premium (well above invoice and above msrp because servco hawaii does not give discounts) thinking i was paying for a reliable and well-made vehicle. i have had other toyotas but none with as many problems as this vehicle. and, with all the news of accelerator problems, i would like my problems checked and not be charged for it. i do not like the idea of having to pay $103 (1hr labor) x 3 different accelerator issues + another $103 to see why there is the smell of gasoline coming from the a/c vent. 1. when stepping on the accelerator, i will get no response... i continue to depress the gas, still no response. then finally, the car will thrust forward violently. this has been mentioned to toyota hawaii dealer several times saying it was normal for drive by wire vehicle and that it will take some getting used to. 2. when accelerating slowly, the car will rev high without the automatic transmission upshifting.. i have to depress the gas more and the car will rev even higher before upshifting. 3. on 2 different times, the car has revved and jumped forward while not in gear. the first time was at an intersection. i shifted into neutral with the p-brake on and it felt as if someone hit my car from the rear. the car jumped into the busy crosswalk about 2 feet until i hit the brake pedal and shifted it back into drive. another time was at the drive-thru window in park. the car didn't move but jerked violently. both were on flat surfaces. 4. when under heavy acceleration, the car sometimes give off the smell of gasoline. it is not exhaust fumes but smells of raw gasoline. a/c in recirculate mode. i also have been having numerous other quality problems with excessive rattling of trim and door ajar alarm going off for no reason. *tr

2007 toyota camry brakes. when braking, the pedal feels as though it is going through the floor and hitting a dead spot. car will not brake without pumping the brakes. car has been serviced 3 times for brake issues. has had two complete brake jobs (replacements?) but it still has the problem. toyota said there was a service bulletin issued on the brakes but i was never notified. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota camry hybrid and have been told the actuator in the abs system needs to be replaced. the cost of the part is over $2,200.00 and that doesn't include the labor to install it. after checking online, i am seeing where this seems to be an issue with toyota hybrid vehicles. my vehicle has about 85,000 miles on it and this seems like an extreme cost for anyone, including me, to have to replace on a vehicle as new as this. has there been any class-action suits/cases regarding this issue and do i have any recourse?

I took the 2007 camry with about 67,000 miles to the repair shop because of a squealing noise: the rear rotors were worn out completely and the rear brakes had to be replaced at a cost of $459.00. after the repairs, the car began to shake violenly when the brakes were applied. sometimes it would pull to the right and it would be difficult to move the steering wheel back to the left. on april 5, i took the car to a dealership where the front rotors had to be machined at a cost of $85. the front brakes were okay.

I would like to request that the nhtsa to investigate a serious failure associated with the brake systems on 2007 toyota camry cars. on tuesday 9/6/11, the brake padel on our camry went to the floor and the car did not slow down while my wife was driving it. she had to hit the brakes again when the pedal came back up in order to stop the car before hitting the car in front of her. this has been a frightening experience for her and we can not figure out what has gone wrong. when i checked the level of the brake fluid in the reservoir it was at its normal level between min and max. out of safety concern for my wife and son, i took the car to the toyota dealership so that the could identify the root cause of the problem and fix it i felt that they would be the best choice. i did not want to take a any chances by taking it to a lower cost repair shop. after having the car at the service center of the dealerrship for the whole day, i was told that they could not find anything wrong with the brake system. they said that the brake pads are fine and that they still have 60% life remaining on them, there is no brake fluid leakage anywhere and that they have driven it and they can not make the same failure to happen again. the service advisor's input was that in case the same problem happens again just apply the emergency brake. i picked up the car from the toyota dealership on wednesday night, and i drove it myself for a few miles and i did not notice any problems with the brakes either. this incident has left me and my wife puzzled, concerned, frightened and worried that the same failure could happen again with an unpleasant results and that other toyota camry users may experience a similar problem. please conduct a full investigation of this problem and advise as to what the root cause might be. we are the first owners of this vehicle and it has never been in an accident.

Sudden unintended acceleration on august 25th 2011 at approximately 1:00 pm, my dad was driving to garvey ranch park located at (781 s orange ave, monterey park, ca 91755) as part of his daily routine. he had already pulled into the parking lot and was getting ready to park his car facing north bound. all of a sudden the car accelerated out of nowhere and hoped the parking curb still facing northbound. in order to avoid any causalities and prevent hitting any of the children near the playground, he was able to steer the car and made a u-turn at about 150 degrees. at this point he was facing south bound of the parking lot and the car continued to accelerate at high speeds. his car then hopped the curb on the south side of the parking lot. once the car hopped the parking curb on the south side, it continued to hop over a couple of raised concrete blocks that delineate a path onto the hillside just south of the parking lot. due to the steepness of the hill, it prevented the car from going any further and the car crashed in between two trees located on the hillside. we had already taken the car to longo toyota due to the acceleration recall back on march 13 2010. i couldn't believe the car still had mechanical issues after we had it serviced it for the recall and was glad that my dad did not sustain a very serious injury. the car is available for inspection if an nhtsa official would like to inspect the car.

I owned a 2007 camry le. on 3/05/11 my brakes failed while on the highway. i carined across the highway and then the car started flipping. the car flipped at least 3 times before hitting an exit sign. the exit sign then pierced the roof of the car and landed between my legs. thank god i wasn't seriously hurt. but through all the flipping across the concrete, my airbags did not deploy. my complaint is brake failure and lack of airbag deployment.

Toyota camry 2007 - persistent vibration steering at highway speed - not being resolved by a series of attempts such as balancing, tire replacement, alignment, brake component replacement. the steering vibration was part of a toyota service bulletin but despite the specific instruction on how to fix the problem, the vibration was never eliminated. lately, vehicle also showing vibration when braking - also at highway speeds. brake repaired at dealer without results. toyota dealer has provided no further resolution option. the concern is if this is a result of the original steering vibration with the vehicle showing further deterioration.

The brakes shakes excessively when braking at speeds around 60 - 70 mph. shaking transmits to steering wheel if front rotors warp and sometimes shake body of car if rear brakes warp. shaving rotors fixes the problem everytime. occurs approximately every 30,000 miles. these rotors warp very easily. they are too thin or of bi-metallic contruction which can cause differential growth of metal, thus warping rotors under high heat loads. besides keep cutting into your expensive rotors, only solution is to go aftermarket. new toyota rotors will be made the same and will warp the same. high performance rotors will work even better. but holes and slots will be hard to shave locally. it is usually front rotors that warp first, but it can be back rotors at times also. everytime you shave them, they get thinner and warp easier the next time (less heat disipation capability). only permanent fix is aftermarket rotors. i am an ex-mechanic and current mechanical engineer.

Rear disc rotor and pads failed at 49,500 miles, when the front brakes still have about 60% remaining. it is unexpected at this mileage, to need repair/replacement of brakes on the rear. it most likelywould not be found/repaired causing insufficient braking and improper handling in an emergency stopping situation. we were fortunate that we requested our brakes be checked by our local repair facility. car had been at dealership 04/05/2010 without mention of brakes needing attention.

I leased a toyota camry xle 2007 model from patt lobb toyota, mckinney, tx sometime in the last quarter of 2007. i have experienced the problem of sudden acceleration so many times and complained to the dealer three times, first time with in the first week of leasing, and they told it is due to rack and pinion steering which gives me a different feel, second time they blamed on my tires as they don't have enough tread depth and last time they can not replicate the problem. this problem always happened when i accelerate around 60 mph. *tr

I own a 2007 toyota camry which i believe is one of the vehicles that is being recalled because a faulty accelerator pedal. because of this recall, i was wondering if an accident that my wife had last year was caused by the problem associated with the recall? my wife was driving on a local parkway in stop and go traffic. the weather was clear and dry. my wife was unable to stop the vehicle (traveling at a speed under 25 mph) and hit the vehicle directly in front of her. my car sustained damage totaling $6,575.79. i wonder if a faulty accelerator was the cause of my wife's accident? *cn

My 2007 camry acceleration has not failed to stop accelerating, but it has been slow to engage. this has made crossing intersections or blending with moving traffic difficult. i have taken the car to the dealer, and they rebooted the accelerator mechanism. i have also had an issue with the brakes making terrible noise when backing up. i was told that was just because the car had been setting. i was later told there is a technical bulletin regarding the brakes for the model, but since i am out of the warranty period there is noting i can do but ask for a repair. i was also reassured the noise was not a danger signal, and there was not a safety issue. based on what i have heard the last few weeks, how can i be certain? when i said i had been driving for 50 years, and have never had a car that made this kind of noise, the dealer representative said i had been lucky! note my dates are on or about. *tr

Brakes first began to vibrate/shutter when braking at 18,000 miles. toyota replaced brakes pads and machined the rotors. at approximately 43,000 miles toyota again repaired the brakes for the same problem. at 70,000 miles the rotors exhibit the same symptoms of having warped rotors that will again have to be reworked or replaced. continuing problem that must be a defect on the vehicle. the vibration and breaking when traveling at higher speeds is increased and feels very dangerous. *tr

Toyotas latest recall should not be a floor mat or stuck accelerator problem. my 2007 camry has experienced this scenerio at least several times a year (even though i know it exists). the problem is the design of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal. the brake pedal (when braking) is closer to the floor than the height of the un-depressed accelerator pedel. if the driver has big feet or is not precise when placing the foot, it is possible to depress both pedals at the same time. the harder one tries to stop, the faster the engine wants to run. in my vehicles from the past, the accelerator pedal, when not depressed, was closer to the floor than the position of the brake pedal during a very hard (emergency) braking action. toyota's firmware fix of not allowing the accelerator signal to override the braking signal is not a good fix for the problem. sometimes it is desirable to increase the speed of the engine before releasing the brake to provent rolling backwards when starting on a grade. paying attention to the ergonomics of how the pedals and the human driver interface and proper engineering design is the solution. *tr

We bought a 2007 camry le from longo toyota in el monte, ca in april 2006. we have had the front brakes replaced 3 times, the shims replaced once, the rear brakes once and the rotors reglazed or replaced once, the most recent time was in february 2009. every time we have taken the car to the dealer with our complaint, it was fixed at our cost, and they told us that it was probably the driver who is using the brakes so much to cause the brakes to be replaced so frequently, which isn't the case, and we told them so. the car now has 70,000 miles on it and has an extended warranty. we are concerned that toyota is aware of a possible problem with the braking system and is not publicly acknowledging it. by contrast, we also own a 2004 chevy tahoe, which we bought brand new, now has 100,000+ miles on it and we have needed to replace the front brakes once. *tr

2007 toyota camry. consumer states problem with abs brake system. *tgw the consumer stated he was in driving in high speed traffic in the left lane, following a safe distance traveling about 65 mph when a car from the right lane suddenly cut in front of him. he applied the brakes in a panic stop, but the vehicle instantly spun around to the right barely missing another car in the right lane and headed for a group of trees off the grassy right hand shoulder of the road. he was able to gain control by releasing the brake and steering out of the spin. but, he overcorrected and crossed the high speed traffic again, and almost t-boned another vehicle and ended up in a ditch in the median of the highway. the consumer stated he did not steer into the spin, he kept the steering wheel straight and jammed on the brakes in an absolutely necessary panic stop. the right front wheel instantly and totally locked up; there was a cloud of blue smoke coming from the right wheel and the vehicle pivoted on that wheel and headed toward the right shoulder. the consumer stated the problem was due to a failure with the abs and not a steering problem. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to find a problem with the abs. *jb

I purchased a 2007 toyota camry in march 2006. this new vehicle had several defects including the replacement of a dash by the dealer after delivery. the quality of the brake rotors on this vehicle are unsatisfactory. i have had the rotors replaced five times. the vehicle has approx. 46,000 miles. i have had two independent repair shops evaluate the factory rotors and they both come to the same conclusion, poor quality rotors. it's not how the vehicle is being operated since we are not causing anything that would cause these rotors to warp the way they do. we do not drive our vehicles hard, just to cause more maintenance expenses. toyota has paid for replacing the rotors once. they have also charged me twice for the same work and i have paid twice to another auto shop. i tried to file a complaint through toyota and that was useless. i will never purchase a toyota vehicle again. real sad how they were handling my complaint. *tr

My husband & i purchased a 07 camry. a few weeks after purchase, husband noticed problems. transmission was not acting right. the car would hesitate for a few seconds when we given gas or sometimes accelerate when we did not; the brakes were bad; & steering column shook when we drove over road bumps or speeds > than 50. over next few months when we took the car in for service & voiced our concerns, the service person would tell us that he could not find anything wrong with the car regarding our concerns & during one visit, they drove the car 18 miles & still could not find anything wrong. one day i was getting on freeway & tried to increase my speed, the car stalled for about 4 seconds, as i looked in rear view mirror i saw another car coming behind me at a really fast speed. i was trying to determining what to do as the car appeared to have actually shut off, when it just surged forward & i was moving again. needless to say, this scared the crap out of me & i called my husband & told him what happened. i felt that if we did not do something, we could potentially have an accident, get killed or kill someone else. i finally called the corporate office & told them our story. they instructed us to take the car to the service dept for an assessment. after assessment the mechanic told me that my steering column needed to be replaced; my rotors were completely warped; and they may have to overhaul my transmission but were going to try & reset it to see if that would help (apparently it is run by a compt which tells it how fast or slow it to go when the accelerator is pressed) apparently the computer was not functioning properly or had a glitch. they reset the transmission & told my husband & i to drive an additional 500miles to break-in the transmission & let them know our thoughts. well, we have driven the additional miles & we both feel as if the transmission is slipping again. we are at wits end w/this dangerous $30,000+ car. *tr
