The dashboard of my 2007 toyota camry se has been melting and there is a shine reflection of the dashboard in the windshield creating a visibility problem. i bought this car brand new when it came out at maroon toyota at weston, fl. when i started with the problem i took it to this dealership and the manager said my car was our of warranty and could do nothing. i also took it to headquarters toyota in miami where i have been taking my car for maintenance and i got the same reply. i called toyota usa and the agent said he can't do anything else either because the dashboard of the car has a warranty of only 3 years. this is a manufacturing defect of the car. i never heard of a melting dashboard and my car right now has less than 65k and this started when it was around 50k miles. please, can you help? i am sure i cannot be the only one complaining. thank you *tr

On april 27, 2010, i was backing out of a parking space. i usually back out of a parking space very slowly so that i can stop at anytime. after i had cleared the parking space and before i could exchange gears, the car (2007 toyota camry) kept on reversing. i put my foot on tne break but the car did not stop. it stopped when it hit a van which was adjacent to a police car. luckily the poilice officer witnessed the entire accident. when the police officer approached my car he stated that i thought you were going to hit me. i replied by saying myy car would not stop; i could stop the car. i informed the police officer that when i put my foot on the brake, the car continued to accelerate. the police report indicates that there was a problem with the acceleration. this statement is also want the mechanic said when he put the car in reverse to work on the car.

I have a 2007 toyota camry. i took it to a toyota dealer on 4/2/2010 for the gas pedal modification and mentioned a thumping sound whenever i went over a bump in the road. i was told that a part that holds a heat shield in place under the gas tank had rusted away and the heat shield was making the noise. did i want it fixed? of course i did, who wants the exhaust pipe to come in contact with the gas tank? i paid the $153.81 to have the heat shield problem fixed, and asked why an important part like that had failed after only 37,000 miles? they told me it's probably because of the weather and the snow and the rust. my problem remains - why a failure on a potentially dangerous part after only 37,000 miles? at least a third of toyota's sales have to be in places where there's snow. appears they're using cheap parts in critical places which could cause disastrous consequences. how could a part that holds a heatshield in place rust out after only 37,000 miles? *tr

We own a 2007 toyota camry and have gone to our local dealership to have the recall taking care of. and to our surprise our gas pedal was cut to a size much smaller than its original version. we have never received notification of this solution for this recall, nor have seen anything on the media that states this is what is being done for a solution. the gas pedal in this format is unacceptable and my foot does not sit properly on the pedal as it should and did before this adjustment. we feel that a new gas pedal should be installed. we purchased this vehicle new and should be entitled to new parts for recalled items, not damaged items in a new vehicle. is there anything you can do to assist with this matter or address toyota corp regarding this solution? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. he stated that while changing the tire when he located the jack he noticed that the vehicle started to lean to the side when it fell off of the jack and onto the ground. underneath the vehicle he also observed that the jack was still positioned in the under carriage of the vehicle since it was too weak, bent and twisted to support the weight of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they would check into it. no repairs were made to the vehicle. the failure mileage was 12,000. the current mileage was 19,000. updated 04/0110 *bf

2007 camry xle. problems with hesitation when accelerating. the dealership just blew me off when i explained the problem. acted as if this was never a problem with camrys. also have had problems with steering column's radio controls - when pressing the appropriate buttons, nothing would happen or, when seeking stations that were programmed in, the down or up buttons would jump to other stations not programmed. since this problem is erratic, nothing was done by dealer. problems with the outdoor temperature gauge - at times, it would take 15-20 minutes before the temperature would change to the correct one. example: it read 77 degrees when it was actually in the mid-90s. dealership did repair this last summer but now, it is reading seven+ degrees off the actual outdoor temperature. the final problem with this car is that the paint is chipping off of the frame area below the doors of the car. this has never happened with any previous car i have owned. dealer attributed it to the fact that this car is the sport version so it rides lower. first toyota i have owned and it looks like it may be my last. *tr

Toyotas latest recall should not be a floor mat or stuck accelerator problem. my 2007 camry has experienced this scenerio at least several times a year (even though i know it exists). the problem is the design of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal. the brake pedal (when braking) is closer to the floor than the height of the un-depressed accelerator pedel. if the driver has big feet or is not precise when placing the foot, it is possible to depress both pedals at the same time. the harder one tries to stop, the faster the engine wants to run. in my vehicles from the past, the accelerator pedal, when not depressed, was closer to the floor than the position of the brake pedal during a very hard (emergency) braking action. toyota's firmware fix of not allowing the accelerator signal to override the braking signal is not a good fix for the problem. sometimes it is desirable to increase the speed of the engine before releasing the brake to provent rolling backwards when starting on a grade. paying attention to the ergonomics of how the pedals and the human driver interface and proper engineering design is the solution. *tr

I purchased a 2007 toyota camry in march 2006. this new vehicle had several defects including the replacement of a dash by the dealer after delivery. the quality of the brake rotors on this vehicle are unsatisfactory. i have had the rotors replaced five times. the vehicle has approx. 46,000 miles. i have had two independent repair shops evaluate the factory rotors and they both come to the same conclusion, poor quality rotors. it's not how the vehicle is being operated since we are not causing anything that would cause these rotors to warp the way they do. we do not drive our vehicles hard, just to cause more maintenance expenses. toyota has paid for replacing the rotors once. they have also charged me twice for the same work and i have paid twice to another auto shop. i tried to file a complaint through toyota and that was useless. i will never purchase a toyota vehicle again. real sad how they were handling my complaint. *tr

Vehicle information: 2007 camry se v6 purchased in toronto, ontario, canada in sep 2007 ? vehicle manufacturing date aug 29, 2007. deficiencies: 1) hesitation the vehicle would not respond to acceleration (even with full throttle) after driving in heavy traffic (stop and go) or driving very passively. this symptom is consistence and hesitation is long and common is 80 klm speed. the vehicle does not down shift at all. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has reprogrammed the transmission chip as per tsb. (will pick up the vehicle today) 2) crackling noise from control are and dashboard next to windshield during entire cold season. noises appear every few second. over 90% of the problem disappears during warmer weather. change my dealer after reporting it twice with no action. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation as per tsb to control area only. the dashboard noise next to windshield could not be replicated. i have to bring the vehicle to dealer during winter month to replicate the problem before any action is taken. 3) thumping noise from rear end of the vehicle on bumps (like a lose watermelon in your trunk). again, first dealer did nothing. new dealer has acknowledged the problem and has added additional insulation to struts as per tsb, 4) high revving and transmission not in gear in sudden acceleration. similar response as you are driving a manual transmission and you continue to accelerate while changing gear. new dealer suggest that the reprogramming should take care of this. *tr

I have a problem with my 2007 camry accelerating from a stopped or low speed position. i also have had to have the air conditioner condenser replaced due to a rock coming through the grill of the car and puncturing the condenser. i took the car to a toyota dealer in slidell, la as i was out of town. the dealer replaced the condenser for $625.00 at my expense. i was told there were no screens or any type of materials that could keep this from occurring again. there is however a tsb for the same thing on the 2007 corolla. i feel that toyota has a flaw in the grill of the 2007 camry and it should be remedied. on the issue of acceleration, i live in a congested traffic area in fl and do not feel that i can safely pull out into traffic unless i have a great deal of clearance. i feel that this is a severe safety issue that needs to be addressed by toyota. i am an avid fan of toyota products. this is my 3rd camry and i owned a scion tc as well so this is not about downing a toyota product. i believe in toyota. i just think now is the time to recognize a problem and remedy that for the consumer. i would hate for someone to get killed before they address this issue. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle was not made for anyone of small stature. the vehicle presented no visibility beyond the front window when the seat was adjusted to allow the contact to reach the accelerator and brake pedals. this also caused the seat belt to cut across the neck of the contact, rubbing it raw. the rear window had a constant reflective haze which, when coupled with the oversized head rests in the rear of the vehicle, obscured the rear view of the contact. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer offered no resolution. the dealer determined due to the contact's stature, there was nothing that could be done.*ak updated 8/14/2006 - *nm

Vehicle started from parked condition. as operator tapped the gas pedal lightly to take it out of parked condition, the vehicle suddenly had a very high speed causing loss of control and the vehicle hit a house. apparently it caused a open throttle condition. pressing brake only aggravated the condition (adding more speed) . this happened with an experienced driver with over 10 years of driving record and 0 incident (not even a parking ticket). all earlier recall were done by dealer. *tr

I own a toyota camry 2007 and the dashboard is melting and has created shiny dashboard. i have cleaned with plain water/damp cloth but it is not getting better. i have a friend who also owns camry 2007 and is facing same problem. i have maintained my car very well and this is surely manufacturing defect. on december 1st this year and i met with an accident because of melting dashboard and shiny dashboard that created glare in my eyes. thank god, no one was injured. i have also read online that many people who own toyota camry 2007 are facing same problem.

Dashboard is melting, soft, and sticky to touch. due to the fact that it is melting, it has become very shiny and bright. the shiny melting dashboard creates a large bright reflection in the windshield that can't be looked at or through. this issue impairs the drivers view of the road ahead. *tr

While trying to make a turn to take an exit to ramp, i applied brakes to slow down and take the curve but the vehicle accelerated and while controlling it i pressed on emergency brakes and brought car to sudden stop but also hit the curve on the side of the hwy. this is an ongoing issue with toyota and had happened twice before.

The driver's side sun visor broke. the arm that goes into the sun visor came out of the sun visor. it seems that it broke the plastic inside the visor that holds it in place. this caused the visor to keep falling and not stay in place. it created a hazard so i completley removed the visor. the tab on the bar that allows the visor to snap into place has become very stiff to where it is very difficult to rotate around. the stiffness of the arm seems to be what probably broke the plastic.

The exterior paint on my 2007 toyota camry is so defective that it simply washed right off while it was being washed at a car wash. while using the car wash sprayer, i approached the front of my car and noticed the paint wash off about a 2x3 spot. it flew off with hardly any force from the car wash as though it was not even attached. one could now see the grey primer that was below the black paint, as the primer remained intact. the black exterior paint peeled right off the car. because the car was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty, i took the car to dennison toyota to be repaired. their employee said to bring the car back when the toyota's regional paint warranty expert was in town, so they could look at it. after doing this, i was very saddened to learn that toyota would not repair the faulty paint because they said that the car had been repainted already and they would only warrant, their own paint. they determined that the car had been repainted because they said that the now visible primer color was not the color they used. they said they used a black primer but this was a lighter grey. i bought the car with only 22k miles, so i knew it had not been repainted as the carfax was clean, and the grey primer was visible under various scratches in the paint on all sides of the car. why on earth would someone strip and reprime the entire car? disgruntled, i emailed the toyota customer service dept. today, they got back to me and confirmed the primer color should be a light grey, not black indicated by the regional paint expert. they apologized for not training their people better. so i called my dealer again and he is still very squirmy saying that he doesn't know what he can do. i told him that since the premise of the regional paint experts refusal to repair the paint was false, the car should be covered by the warranty since it was the manufacturer's paint that failed before the warranty expired. we shall see what they say. *tr

*tr
