I own camry se 2007. dashboard of the car is starting to melt, surface is very sticky, shiney and when touched with finger it is coming off like a glue. while driving the surface is so shiney it creats very bright glare from sun light, sometimes it blinds driver's road visibality creating a potential road hazard dashboard surface has turned into a very soft material and it can be easily scraped off to expose the underlying insulation.

The driver side window opened or closed slowly and made noise at the beginning. a few days later, the window wouldn't open or close. i called toyota company who said it's not in the recall list and they have nothing to do with it. the manner was very bad and ignorant.

I was driving to work in the early morning, all of a sudden engine started makeing some wired noise and withing next 2 min vihicle stoped in the middle of freeway (somehow managed to pull it out to shoulder) could have been fatal injury, then towed the vehicle to dealership, they found that engine sized because of waterpump brakedown,(it didnt give me no time to take that into dealer ) how this could happen for such a low miles and abt 5.5 years old and well maintained vehicle, was complained abt this to toyota but didnt get a satisfactory answers

The dashboard is melting and cracking. the seal or rubber that goes around the windshield glass is coming off while driving on highway over 65 miles.

I own a toyota camry 2007 and the dashboard is melting and has created shiny dashboard. i have cleaned with plain water/damp cloth but it is not getting better. i have a friend who also owns camry 2007 and is facing same problem. i have maintained my car very well and this is surely manufacturing defect. on december 1st this year and i met with an accident because of melting dashboard and shiny dashboard that created glare in my eyes. thank god, no one was injured. i have also read online that many people who own toyota camry 2007 are facing same problem.

The sun visor fell down on me as i was driving on the freeway. this is dangerous and a cause for concern. i contacted both the toyota dealership and toyota customer service, and was informed by both that even though there is an extended warranty for exactly this issue for 2007 camrys, it only applies to american-made cars. since my car was made in japan, it is not covered, even though the symptoms are exactly the same and i would fall under the same repair program. this is a dangerous issue and toyota should fix it.

The driver and passenger side visor failed on me when i put it down. this seems to be a common issue with the sun visors. this issue can be a potential hazard as it obstructs my view during normal operation of the vehicle. i have to move the visor to the side in order to have a full view ahead. if the visor is left in front of me then it is hard to see traffic and traffic lights in front of me and can potentially cause an accident. my son in-law has a similar car and received a notice from toyota providing an additional warranty for this same issue but it was only specific to his vin number. if this is a common issue why do they not send it out to everyone. *tr

Both the sun visor on the driver's side and passenger side have broken. they flop down and won't stay up. the driver side visor hung right in the line of sight of the driver. i had to hold it up with my left hand while driving so that i could see, until i could drive home and remove it. both visors have been removed, which causes another hazard of sun glare for the driver. sunglasses alone do not block the sun well enough. i still become blinded by the sun and have to block the sun with my hand. very hazardous. dealerships are charging around $175 per visor. at the very minimum, toyota needs to replace the visors at their cost of the visor with free labor.

I have a 2007 toyota camry that has intermittent instrument cluster problems. the speedometer and tachometer will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. the tachometer will then bounce between zero and what i can only assume is a close approximation of the actual engine rpm. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights illuminate and stay on for the duration of the episode. these last anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. in the meantime, the car runs normally from what i can discern. i can be driving down the highway at 70 or sitting in the parking lot idling and these episodes occur. there are no other indications that something is amiss...no rough idling, no engine stalling, just the display.

The driver side sun visor was kind of rough, past one year. it won't move or will get jammed. last week it came apart with metal hook hanging. this is despite the fact that i keep my car like a baby. it's in immaculate condition (just like out of showroom condition) it was extremely freighting as it will keep falling off every few miles. i had to duct tape the whole thing, so as to drive back home. pls. urgently instruct toyota to put this into recall before somebody looses his life driving 2007 toyota camry because of poor quality visor.

My driver's side sun visor has fallen into my view. it is difficult to drive with this defect.
08/11/201180000
Driver's side sun visor broke for no apparent reason. defective part. i used to own a 1997 toyota camry and drove over 200,000 miles and the sun visor was fine. i was searching on the web to find a replacement part but instead found a website that other people have posted having same problem with this defective part. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/104-5th-6th-generation-2002-2006-2007-2011/343284-2007-camry-sun-visor-problem-2.html additionally, i received a letter from toyota regarding a recall about the accelerator problem and tried to set up an appointment through an email with courtesy toyota service center and they did not respond to my inquiry nor willing to set up an appointment to cure the recall issue. courtesy toyota 9210 adamo drive tampa, fl 33619

The driver and passenger side sun visor just hang down, this is a safety issue. these sun visor are horrible is quality. i can't believe toyota has not recalled this issue.
01/02/201250000
Driver's sun visor stopped working and became increasingly worse, and toyota wanted an arm and a leg to replace it with another that won't last any longer. when i heard the price to replace a sun visor, i felt like it was a scam to raise revenue. now, the droopy visor significantly impairs visibility, and toyota supposedly has a recall, but my dealer is refusing to acknowledge that my vehicle is included. had to call toyota corporate customer care, who acknowledged that my vehicle is included, but they are deferring back to my dealer and who knows when they'll contact me. meanwhile i have to hunch down to drive in order to see. trying to limit driving as much as possible. i think this is the fourth recall this vehicle has had. i've never owned a car with so many problems. and the light in the trunk no longer works either.
09/05/201166700
Driver side visor replaced last year (2011) due to same issue: visor directly impacted driver's view. sun visor on passenger side now drooping after shifting position to put sun shade in place. exact same problem. droop getting worse; visor does not stay in position and impedes driver's peripheral view.
08/18/2012
Sun visor on driver side just dropped while driving, impeding my vision of traffic in front of me. after researching on various online forums i realized that this is a known defect, so i decided to report it.
08/08/2012
Driver side sun visor started to drop and will not stay in place. it has broken inside the plastic case. it impairs the drivers vision and i've seen on the web that this is a common problem with 2007 camrys
01/03/201250200
First the driver side sun visor started dropping and won't stay up, then about 6 months later the passenger side did the same thing. dealer says cost is over $200 to replace each one. this is unacceptable. i see in the toyota forums this is a common occurance. there should be a recall on replacing the visors. it is very unsafe. the visor blocks 33% of your vision. especially frustrating at night.
07/23/201299500
Sun visor was fine, and not experiencing any problems. while driving in moderate traffic the sun visor just flopped down obscuring my vision. it would not stay back up. i had to hold it up with one hand and drive with the other until i got home. it is now taped onto my sunroof with duct tape. not good at all!
07/16/2012104000
I pulled the driver side visor down to block the sun and it broke and was just hanging there by some fabric. had to quickly pull over into the ditch to prevent an accident. no happy that there hasn't been a recall on this since i see from all the blogs that this has been an issue for quite some time.

Driver side sun visor dangling. passenger side sun visor fell off.

Driver's side visor dangles by the left side arm, impeding visibility. visor will not stay in normal, upright position nor is it able to be manipulated so it's not in my view.

1.) my driver side sun visor came loose and i took it to get it repaiired. they put the visor back, but, the lights never worked. few months after it came loose and kept blocking my view, and i kept getting hitting on my head while getting in the car. this week it completely came off (fell) and now i am being burnt in the sun, since there's absolutely no protection. i want my visor to be replaced by toyota, because my care was not that old when it first came loose. 2.) my car does not pickup speed if the ac or heating is on. i have asked the dealer to check and he says there is nothing wrong. sometimes it feels like, i am pumping gas, but, the car is going nowhere. it stalls for few seconds and sometimes, it just feels as if i am losing control, as if the car is running on it's own, w/o me pumping gas, it picks up speed. ps: i am never buying another toyota.

The dashboard of my 2007 toyota camry se has been melting and there is a shine reflection of the dashboard in the windshield creating a visibility problem. i bought this car brand new when it came out at maroon toyota at weston, fl. when i started with the problem i took it to this dealership and the manager said my car was our of warranty and could do nothing. i also took it to headquarters toyota in miami where i have been taking my car for maintenance and i got the same reply. i called toyota usa and the agent said he can't do anything else either because the dashboard of the car has a warranty of only 3 years. this is a manufacturing defect of the car. i never heard of a melting dashboard and my car right now has less than 65k and this started when it was around 50k miles. please, can you help? i am sure i cannot be the only one complaining. thank you

Sun visor has broken and drops down to block drivers view. this has happened on both sides, though not simultaneously. visor must be held in out of the way position until something such as tape can be afixed to hold it up. given the suddenness of the incident, it could cause loss of view at a critical time.

While driving down the interstate this morning my driver's side sun visor suddenly flopped down into my line of sight, causing me to almost have an accident. it will not stay up or pushed back out of the way- it falls to the lowest point, directly blocking my view of the top half of the windshield. i tried moving it to the side, but it blocks my vision here. i have not seen the dealer yet, but after searching online forms i see that this is a common problem in toyotas that they are refusing to acknowledge or accept responsibility for. there are over 230 complaints about this problem on this database for just the 2007 camry. from what i've seen, toyota thinks it is no big deal to pay $100-$200 to replace a part that is shoddily built. however, this is a major safety hazard and the defective part should be recalled in all models immediately, regardless of warranty or mileage. it obviously is something they have known about for a long time but they continue to ignore the potential seriousness of this malfunction.
06/11/201260400
The driver's side sun visor is no longer functioning. it hangs down. i am reporting this because i have read many other reports reported within this website of the same issue. i do not undertand why when there are so many affected vehicles, a recall is not done. i will probably just pay to get it fixed, not much choice, but this is a safetly issue, and toyota should be asked to make this repair for affected customers at no cost to the consumer.

My sun visor won't stay up. it is a safety hazard and is difficult to see while driving and hanging down in my face. this is the second sun visor that i have had to replace, at my expense $130!! i am really upset that toyota expects us to replace these, when it is obviously a manufacturer defect and is affecting this many people. i am a toyota camry die hard. please do something. if something is not done, i will not ever buy another toyota.

The driver side sun visor wont go up all the way or extend back. it hangs down part way, so if i happen to be in an accident, i'm afraid it will severly hurt my forehead. if i put it down straight, so it wont hurt me, then my field of vision is impaired. all in all, not very safe. i've read on line that 2007 and 2008 camry's are having this problem and i'm not alone.

The sun visor for some time has been clicking when moverd down or up. this monday it finally broke for good. it no longer stays up out of the drivers view and is not able to be adjusted as normal. i have noticed on several discussion groups that this is a very common occurance. i believe that toyota has know that this is a week part and should initiate a recall to replace or reemberse the cost of replacemenets.

The drivers side visor repeadedly dropped in the extreme down position, blocking my abillity to see for driving. it would not stay in any upright position and hung loosely. out of frustration for my safety and ability to drive, i had to pull it off the flimsy metal holder until i could get to the dealer. toyota northridge did repair at no cost, although i do have an extended warranty.

The driver side visor failed on me when i put it down. this seems to be a common issue with the sun visors. this issue can be a potential hazard as it obstructs my view during normal operation of the vehicle. i have to move the visor to the side in order to have a full view ahead. if the visor is left in front of me then it is hard to see traffic and traffic lights in front of me and can potentially cause an accident. toyota should replace this part as it can be a potential hazard.
04/14/2010
The driver side sun visor will not stay in the up or stowed position it hangs down, about halfway. i really believe this is clearly a safety issue because it has blocked part of my sight. toyota dealerships want over $200 to fix it. they refuse to fix it free of charge unless there have been more complaints. this is also not included in any of their warranty products.

Driver's side sun visor started to fall apart around march 2011, it became safety issue as it failed to stay in stowed position and was only matter of time before it fell off altogether. went to dealer to buy replacement at cost of $121.85. now passenger side visor is doing the same thing and will have to be replaced soon. also rear lap seat belt is unserviceable due to locked-in retracted position.

Driver's side visor has broken and is hanging in the line of vision. this is causing an obstruction of view for the driver whether in the forward facing position or rotated to the left side where it blocks the driver's vision to the left. the visor was not being mishandled when it broke. this is a safety issue as the driver cannot see properly and causes problems when driving and trying to deal with the visor in order to improve visibility of the road. it is my understanding this is a common problem in the 2007 camry yet toyota has not issued a recall for the visors. this could potentially cause an accident.

Concerning the driver's side interior sun visor; the plastic housing of the visor separated from metal arm that attaches to the roof of the vehicle (the plastic casing cracked). the visor was dangling from the metal attachment and obstructing my view, hitting my forhead as i would brake or accelerate. had to pull it off completely to avoid visibility obstrucution, distraction from driving, and being stricken on my forehead!

The drivers side sun visor no longer stays in the up ourt of the way position. the visor now flops down and does not stay up causing a empairment of your vision. if pushed to the side window it is still down blocking my side vision. this is a very common compaint from many toyota camry owners.

On september 2011, the texture of my dashboard started changing to a shiny tacky texture, and the closer to the window the more severe it was. i must add that i take great care of my vehicle and whenever is parked outside i use interior windshield covers to protect it from the sun and heat. in an attempt to clean it, i noticed the dashboard was disintegrating. it was coming right off and it was impossible to remove the sticky texture. furthermore, the dashboard is so soft that it can be scrapped right off with a nail or any slightly sharp object. i've been investigating this issue, and it appears to be common on 2007 camry's and 2007 lexus' vehicles. i created a video demonstrating this defect and have posted it on youtube. it can be found by searching toyota camry sticky dashboard or by clicking on this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47w3slkgvp0&feature=email

The drivers side sun visor will not stay up. it just hangs down in the way. it was not damaged in any way that i can see. just normal use. when driving i have to eiter move it to the side to see. this has caused some visibility problems when it is very bright outside and you are driving into the sun.i had to remove it as it was impeading my vision during driving. now i have to drive one-handed in order to shield my eyes from the sun. toyota will not replace as a warrantied item.

The sunvisor of the driver side won't stay in an upward position. it is very dangerous to drive the car with the visor installed, had to take it out.

Sun visor became loose and will not stay in the upright position. first visor to fail was passenger side, which did pose a visibility issue, but not too severe. tried to duct tape it in upright position, but it will not hold. then, just yesterday, the driver's side failed, which definitely causes a visibility issue when the visor won't stay up, or drops down in your face, or hits you in the head on it's way down, only to hang in your view while driving, and not effectively block the sun when you need it to. a friend that owns a 2010 camry also has also had the same issue.

The visors stopped staying up, they are not working, first the drivers side broke, it just falls down and will not stay up. then about 3 months later the passenger side fell down, i have to use a straight pen to mash them to stay up. this should be a recall by toyota since i read about many other people on the internet who have this same problem.

The driver's side sun visor will not stay in position. the driver's side sun visor is also quickly loosening to the point where it will be a distraction or fall on the driver while in operation of vehicle. this part on the vehicle has had light use and mainly for sheilding glaring sun while car is in motion. without the proper functioning of the sun visor, it will put the driver and occupants in a dangerous situation.

My left driver's side sun visor began drooping last week. i noticed a few days later that it seemed to be getting lower and lower and was dropping into my field of vision, obstructing my view. then, it began randomly falling, which completely keeps me from being able to see where i'm going or what might be in my path. during the course of a 15-minute drive today, it fell 3 times. my car is no longer under warranty, having a replacement installed is almost $200 and i'm learning that this is a very common problem in 2007 toyota camrys.

The driver side sun visor fell down into my vision, almost causing me to rear end another vehicle. toyota doesnt consider this a warranty item and it is not covered, i have done some detective work on the internet and found that thousands of 2007 camry owners are having this same problem, some twice after the dealership replaced the first one. this should most definitely be a recall as it is a safety hazard and could be a cause of serious if not deadly car accident.
09/26/201162500
The driver's side sun visor broke without the use of excessive force. it flops down whether it is tilted forward or backward. i can't see to drive unless i move it to the side, but then it blocks 80% of the view from the driver's window. i have to lean forward to see my side mirror. this is especially a problem at night.

Driver's side sun visor has broken and will randomly drop down into field of view while driving - while this does not appear to affect my wife's visibility (she is 5' 1), it will completely block my normal field of view (i am 6' 1). i can only see immediately in front of the vehicle when it does this and requires me to duck down quickly to try to see while trying to move the visor away at the same time. this could have disastrous consequences if it happened while merging or pulling into traffic.

High beam headlights came on and would not turn off. fuses had to be pulled due to the battery being drained. online research shows there is an apparent problem with the headlight relay or switch but there is no information online where they are located. also there is a severe knocking noise in the front end. the rack and pinion had to be changed as well as the struts and the car doesn't even have 50k miles on it. toyota is junk!

The sun visor on the driver side does not stay in place. it drops or completely falls down. it is a safety issue as it blocks the view of the driver and can cause a car accident. many people has reported same kind of problem and toyota does not want to make any recall to fix this problem. it is not a tear and wear issue. it is a manufacture defects.

The sunvisor on the driver side of 2007 camry xle does not stay in place. it droops or completely falls down. started one week ago, no accident or change in use of visor caused this. severe danger due to inability to see properly with how the visor falls. contacted dealer and repair is not considered part of warranty.

The sun visor on the driver side will no longer retract to its normal position and now hangs at an awkward angle compromising my field of vision. as the sun visor has rarely been used or even touched, i believe toyota is at fault and should be held responsible for correcting this inconvenient and hazardous defect as soon as possible.

Both sun visors have broken and will not longer remain up. driver side was hanging straight down and had to be removed. passenger side will only stay up at about a 45 degree angle. both failed suddenly and obscure driver's vision. upon removing the driver side visor it could be seen that the seam in the plastic was broken and the internal metal clip through which the visor shaft passes slips instead of holding fast. numerous small pieces of broken plastic from the inside were protruding out of the seam.

Driver side sun visor fall down on 8/1/2011. it will not stay hold up which will block driver's sight while driving. there is potential and serious possibility that this fall down sun visor may cause a car accident. ever since last year, numerous of people have reported to toyota that 2007 to 2011 camry has this problem. as of today, 8/8/2011, toyota has yet to reply to this problem or make any recall to the problematic model. in fact, toyota asks their customers who experience this problem to pay for a replacement sun visor which may have the same problem in the future. this problem was created by either design or manufacture. not by failure of usage.

2007 toyota camry le. the sun visor broke and is hanging down directly in my driving vision. i put it to the side but it doesn't stay. i drive into the sun. this is a safety hazard and i can see on line it's not uncommon. i have duct taped it to the ceiling for now. toyota wants over $200 to fix. this should never break, and it break seems like it's inside the visor itself.

While driving into the sun, i pulled my visor down to block the sun. the visor broke & hung limply in my face, blocking my view. when i tried to move it out of the way, it wouldn't stay. in order to drive safely, i ended up pulling off to the side of the road, and figuring out how to detach it, so that it would not block my vision.

Both sun visors have broken off of the car. the part of the equipments where the rod fits into the plastic piece on the visor itself has failed. the part broke, hung down in my line of driving vision and would not lock back in place. both have now broken and i had to remove them to cotinue to be able to drive safely. i have been able to find used parts for just under 100 dollars or i would have to pay 130-150 for new visors. i know this is a problem with many 2007 toyota camry owners. it should be looked at at a serious flaw in the design of these visors.
07/24/201165000
Driver side sun visor fails under normal wear. once visor is broken it hangs down in the drivers view creating a hazard. there is no possible way to fix the visor to original condition once in a broken state. replaced visor with toyota oem part. upon inspection of the broken visor, it was determined that the reason the original visor failed was because the tension bar is dependent on a metal clip that it restrained by the weak plastic housing. replacement visor should have better reinforcement around tension bar. without destroying the replacement part, it is impossible to determine if a design change has been made to fix this issue.

The driver's side visor is broken where it connects to the arm/bracket. it doesn't want to stay up. either way i try to push it (backwards or upward), it falls back down. this is very dangerous because it is difficult to drive not being able to see red lights unless you strain to peer underneath the visor. please help!

The oil light on my 2007 toyota camry comes on before the required oil change is due. when i take it to the dealership, they say it is low on oil & it is normal to burn about a quart of oil for every 700 - 1000 miles & i need to check it between oil changes and probably add additional oil. there is not an oil leak and several other 2007 camry owners have reported the same issue and response. additionally, i own a 1998 camry and it has never been low on oil.

The driver side sun visor in the 2007 toyota camry begin with a clicking noise when changing the position of the visor from up to down. now the visor is losing the ability to stay in the up position. this defect causes a major blockage in the ability to see the roadway ahead. at this point in time nothing has been done to repair the issue. hoping that toyota will issue a recall and correct the issue.

We bought a 2007 toyota camry in october 06 and have been experiencing low oil levels for the past 3 years. on a couple of occasions, the oil level has gotten so low that the oil light came on. we have been reporting the problem to two separate toyota dealerships and they've asked me to return the car for oil checks after 1000 miles, which show a lost of over a quart of oil. our toyota dealership has been telling us that it is normal for the camry to consume over a quart of oil after 1000 to 3,000 miles and there is no problem to fix. i have an extended warranty through fidelity and a service specialist by the name of tony at toyota of orlando been giving me the run around about getting fidelity to give them the go ahead to resolve the issue. he said that he has called fidelity a couple of times to get authorization but they have not gotten back with him but will contact us when he gets the ok. it has been over two weeks since he said he has been trying to get the go ahead from fidelity, so we decided to call fidelity to find out why they were delaying giving the dealership the go ahead to fix the car, seeing that we have the platinum place. fidelity informed us that no one from toyota of orlando has ever contacted them at any time about our 2007 camry. we then spoke with a service manager by the name of bryan and he has been giving me the same story about it is not unusual for the camry to consume over a quart of oil between 1000 to 3000 miles, so there is nothing to fix. we have owned over 8 cars and has never had this type of problem. i have spoken to several mechanics and they informed me that this problem should not be happening to a newer model car like ours.

I own a 2007 toyota camry. in september 2010, i was involved in an automobile accident as a result of a mechanical defect and/or failure of systems in the vehicle. the accident was not the result of human error. upon my approaching a parking space, the car lunged and suddenly accelerated. the car crashed into a building, resulting in property damage. there were no personal injuries. i filed a claim with toyota. i requested inspections of the vehicle from not only toyota, but also from my insurance company. toyota denied responsibility based on the erroneous information from the computer black box. the body work on my car was just completed. i no longer have confidence in the safety of my car. i fear that the vehicle could malfunction again, resulting in a worse scenario than the accident in september 2010. before more fatalities, injuries or property damages occur as the result of mechanical defects and/or failure of systems in toyota vehicles, the nhtsa should thoroughly investigate any and all claims against toyota vehicles that have a history of problems. toyota should be held accountable. i have requested that my car be replaced by toyota. i don't doubt how toyota will respond to my request. they will hold true in their denial of responsibility.

Sun visor on driver's side will not stay in the up position. it hangs down about 1-2 inches from it's original up position. after reading on line about toyota not doing anything to correct the situation with other people, i did not take it to my dealer thinking i would be told it was my car and my problem (not necessarily in those terms).

I took my 2007 toyota camry for it's 15,000 mile checkup and the mechanic said that the ignition key fell apart when he turned it in the ignition. the key used was my spare key which i keep in a drawer at home. my mileage at the time was 15,203 miles. i contacted toyota and was told to take it to a dealer which i did and they contacted toyota by phone and was told the key was not under warranty. i paid $386.76 for a new key. the key had to be defective in order to fall apart the way that it did. i wrote toyota explaining all of this and requested that they reimburse me but was told not under warranty therefore they cannot reimburse me. i feel that this incident should be documented for future reference.

2007 toyota camry - while slowing down in traffic from 30 mph, as i reached aproximately 10 mph the engine revved up ......i had to brake harder while the car was bucking as if it wanted to speed ahead ....after 5 seconds, engine slowed abruptly so that we thought it had stalled but it was just back to the usual idling speed. the car was brought in to the toyota dealership on june 16, 2010 right after this incident. they examined the car, found nothing wrong and charged us $96.00. this revving up has happened before but not as severe as this occurrence. since the june 16 incident, it has happened six other times several of which were severe. the most recent severe incident was on august 21, 2010. we have notified the toyota corporation but as of today, 8/25/2010, they have not advised us as to what to do. we are not driving the car until this is resolved and the car is found to be safe.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) october - december 2009 on two (2) separate occasions, my 2007 toyota camry accelerated without apparent cause. the second incident happened after i had been shopping at the huntington mall for christmas. i was coming up to a redlight behind several automobiles when the car accelerated. i veered to the right side of the road to avoid hitting the automobile in front of me and braked as hard as i could. i also put the automobile in park as soon as i could. before this, i had an incident of slight acceleration, but i don't recall exactly when or where-just that i mentioned to my husband that i felt the car didn't want to stop when i applied the brake. on january 6, 2010, i took the camry to the dealership in which i purchased it for a routine oil change and requested the service department to look at the accelerator pedal. on january 22, 2010, the camry had to be towed into the dealership due to a busted oil tube (which was later identified as a recall) and again, i asked the repair department to check the pedal. my husband accompanied me to pick the car up later that afternoon and when i asked if the pedal had been checked, the service advisor told my husband that the pedal had been checked and he had driven the car and couldn't find any problems. the service advisor related to us that something about a recall was on the news about 4:00 a.m. that very morning. after the public recall and two letters addressing this issue with the dealership, i was finally contacted by the dealership to bring my automobile in for recall repairs. since that time, i've taken the camry in for a steering wheel concern, which warranted no apparent cause, and recently experienced another incident with acceleration. the acceleration was more of a revving of the engine rather than an out of control acceleration. i would like others to know about these incidence and hopefully avoid injuries.  Toyota has failed to reply to my email of march 10 seeking information to be prepared for accelerator problems with my camry. customer (mark brucker)03/10/2010 03:01 pm i have a 2007 camry se 4-cyl. i've had the recall repairs done. there are reports that some cars malfunction even after repair. i'm trying to figure out how to be prepared for that just in case. people are advised that if there is a problem to shift to neutral or turn off the ignition. but the reports i've seen said you can do those things on some cars but not others. i'd like to know if i can with my car. will it let me shift into neutral (auto transmission)? will it let me turn off the ignition? is there anything else i can do if i have a problem?

While driving the car at approximately 30mph, when i pressed the brake pedal, the car would not stop. the gas pedal got stuck. i put the car in neutral and pressed the power button. when i restarted the car, the brakes and gas pedal worked appropriately.

I own a 2007 camry ce. last month i noticed the oil lamp was on but my oil change wasn't due for another 2000 miles.i took it to toyota and they topped off the oil and asked me to return at 1000 miles. i did and the oil was again low. they topped it off again and asked me to return at 500 miles-i did. i left the vehicle overnight at the dealer's request because the oil was being consumed at a certain rate and couldn't be explained. i received a call the next day to let me know that they don't know the problem and the only solution is to rebuilt the engine at a cost of $6900 plus tax. unfortunately, my warranty ran out at 60k miles and i have 62k miles now.i had less than $61k miles when this all started so i'm only out of warranty by a few hundred miles! how is it possible to have this kind of repair for a vehicle i've taken care of with oil changes every 5k miles. i refuse to pay more than i owe on this vehicle and i will seek help from the media if toyota refuses to do the right thing. fix it w/o breaking the bank!

I was driving for work with my toyota camry 2007. while accelerating to get on the highway, around the end of the ramp, my vehicle suddenly accelerated with no controls working from the driver's seat either for the steering wheel or the brake. in a matter of a few seconds, the vehicle went a few times in a zig-zag manner and subsequently hit a semi-trailer which was southbound on the highway. my car was completely smashed in the front and totaled later. this incident occurred after my car went through the accelerator pedal replacement as per recommedations of the toyota recall procedure. i could have been easily killed in this accident. i got a traffic ticket for the first time in my life after having a ticket-free driving record for the past 11+ years. i am pleading 'not guilty' for this ticket because the defective toyota car was responsible for the accident and not my error.

On 4/3/10, unintended accelerator fix per toyota letter was performed on our 2007 toyota camry xle (vann york toyota in high point, nc). on 4/12/10, while my wife was driving at 35mph on a city street, maintaining constant acceleration; then, she removed the foot of the accelerator as she headed toward an intersection, when suddenly, the engine speed drastically increased (i.e. revved up like when the driver steps on the accelerator to achieve a fast velocity rate of change); however, the car velocity decreased and she applied the brakes to get to the intersection and make a right turn. it is important to point out that the sudden engine speed increase lasted for approximately 5 seconds; afterwards, the engine speed went back to the normal (previous) level. after making a right turn at the intersection, there was no re-occurrence of this issue, and my wife and 5 year old daughter made it home safe. the sudden engine speed increases have occurred multiple times in our 2007 toyota camry since we bought it late 2006. we have reported this issue, as well as what feels like infrequent tire slippages to several dealerships (in phoenix and greensboro), but they have never found any issues while inspecting the car. we are extremely concerned that even after toyota has recommended the accelerator fix (they changed the shape of the accelerator pedal and made an update to the engine throttle computer) and the fix has been applied to our car, it continues to behave in the manner described above. we feel the car is unsafe.

I own a 2007 toyota camry and have owned it since 2001. from about a year ago, the gas pedal sometimes gets stuck. this usually happens when i am stopped at a red traffic light. when the light turns green, and i hit the gas pedal, it sometimes does not depress. i have to put a lot of body weight on it to get it to depress. this causes initial sudden acceleration. this has been happening quite often off late.

I went to champion toyota houston, tx 77034 for recall problem on march 19th. the service advisor named jacy blair signed me on and gave me an appoinment for next day morning( 9:00 am i guess). while i was there, i feel like checking my breaks too so i asked the service advisor about that and she called her technician. the technician advised me to fix my breaks right away because its sefty problem and advise me to leave my car there for that day cos they have to fix recall thing too. i aggred and remind him not to forget about recall thing again before i left. next day they called me and left a massage in my phone that my car is ready . i went there and paid $ 480.00 for fixing the breaks and drove back home. when i look at the invoice at home i didn't see any thing written about recall thing so i called them back and talked with jacy again and found out that they gave me the car without fixing the recall thing. i was bit of angry and i asked her to pick my car from home, fix it and return to me. she said that her senior manager gonna give me a call within fifteen min. and hang up the phone. i waited for 1 hour but no one called me so i called her again and she transfer the phone to other guy ( 10 min. wiat) who didn't want to solve the problem and transfer to another guy ( 20 min wait ). the last person was nice and accepted the mistake and agreed to pick up my car at home next saturday and fix it. he called me again last friday to verify my address and told me someone will be there from toyota next morning from 9 to 10 am to pick up my car. i waited whole day that day but no one came or any phone call. now, what should i do? go back there even after being insulted twice or drive my car as it is? i feel like toyota is using this recall thing as a grocery store sunday coupon, where you go for shopping to save little money but end up spending more. in my case i returned empty handed even after spendiing money.

On january 26, 2009 i was pulling my 2007 toyota camry into a handicapped parking spot in a strip mall. my right foot was on the brake, and the car suddenly accelerated and continued going forward (there was no curb) until it crashed into a pizza restaurant. fortunately, i wasn't injured, although my insurance company had to cover the damage to my vehicle and to the store; i had to pay my deductible and was given a ticket for careless driving, because no other explanation for the accident was evident at the time. i couldn't understand how the car could have accelerated with my foot off the gas pedal and on the brake. however, after reading about the recent furor regarding the gas pedal on 2007 toyotas, i brought my car to my dealership where i was advised that my gas pedal was manufactured in japan and thus not subject to recall. they could not explain the accident. *tw

Cruse control problem. when going up an incline my car will acelarate at a rate of speed that is 3mph (est) over the mph that the cruse control was set at. the acelarations is very fast and causes the car to acelarate faster than the traffic flow which requires the brakes to be applied to turn off the cruse control. you have to be alert or you can run into the car in front of you plus the braking in traffic can cause problems. on a level road the cruse control work the way it should. *cn

The accelerator pedal on my vehicle has been getting difficult to press down on. it doesn't happen every day but at least once a month. when i have pushed down on the pedal with more strength then necessary, it has caused my vehicle to increase speed. tw* thankfully, i haven't been in an accident but am very concerned for my safety, especially after hearing of many vehicle recalls!

Safety issue, cheap quality windshield used by toyota on 2007 camry le. i filed a complain with toyota for windshield crack which appeared on my 2007 camry (still under warranty) with 17k miles. i took it to dealer and dealer service manager washed his hands saying this crack is due to some pebble/rock hitting the windshield and than he showed me tip of pin size mark which i really strange that how can that mark cause that crack, its clearly shows that either toyota had advised dealers not to cover anything in warranty as customer will end up paying from his pocket rather toyota fixing it. i even complained to toyota but no use, they moved it back to dealer and dealer customer relation lady refused to do anything, earlier service manager had given me toyota number to contact and see if they can do anything but looks like he knew that nothing would be done and i will just waste my time. complain which i made to toyota via customer relation department id: 0907111004 resolution sought: change the windshield asap or take the car back, i would rather go to honda. seems like toyota car are good for road which are either driveway kind or totally clean, not able to handle highways. this was my first and last toyota, for sure i will covey the message to others too so that people thing again before buying toyota. i trusted toyota name and though there after sales and service would be good and parts used would be good quality but guess its not, shows reason of why people moving away. *tr
