Defect SummaryCertain all weather floor mats (awfm) specifically sold as an optional accessory for use on the 2007 and 2008 model year lexus es350 and toyota camry vehicles. the awfm includes two grommet holes and retaining hooks (clips) to secure the mat to the vehicle's carpet. if the awfm is not secured by itself or if it is placed on top of an existing carpeting floor mat, the mat could move forward during the vehicle usage and it may interfere with the accelerator pedal.
Consequence SummaryThe accelerator pedal may temporarily become stuck in a partially depressed position when returning to the idle position. if this condition occurs, it may increase the possibility of a crash.
Corrective SummaryToyota will notify owners of all 2007 and 2008 lexus es350 and toyota camry vehicles about the recall even though not all of these owners will have purchased the all weather mats. if the owner had not purchased the mats, they are not affected by the recall. this letter will advise owners when replacement mats will be available or how to return the all weather floor mat set to obtain a refund. a second letter will be sent after mats are available requesting owners to return their mats to a lexus or toyota dealer for exchange of the driver's side mat. the first letter is expected to be sent during early october 2007 and the second in late november 2007. owners can contact the lexus customer assistance center at 1-800-255-3987 or the toyota customer experience center at 1-888-270-9371.

On september 26, 2007, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that some of its model year (my) 2007 and 2008 lexus e350 and toyota camry vehicles could experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the optional all weather floor mat offered on those vehicles and the vehicles' accelerator pedal.this decision was influenced by an office of defects investigation (odi) engineering analysis.this recall was designated 07e082.two years later, on october 5, 2009, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that a number of its my 2004-2009 lexus and toyota vehicles may also experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver's floor mat.this recall was designated 09v388.several months later, on january 27, 2010, toyota filed an amended, or supplemental, defect information report and expanded the population of vehicles to include additional my 2008-2010 toyota and lexus vehicles.since this expansiontook place in a different calendar year, this recall was designated 10v023.separately on january 21, 2010, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that certain toyota vehicles and certain pontiac vibe vehicles contained a safety defect in the accelerator pedal assembly that may cause the accelerator pedal to become harder to depress, slower to return, or in the worse case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position.nhtsa designated this recall 10v017.in total, the four recalls cover over 7.6 million toyota and lexus vehicles as well as the pontiac vibe product made by new united motor manufacturing, inc., a venture of toyota and general motors corporation.nhtsa requires additional information from toyota to more fully understand and evaluate, among other things, whether the scope of the recalls identified above (makes, models and model years) is sufficiently broad.the agency is seeking to determine whether toyota viewed the underlying defects too narrowly as interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver

Broken sunvisor in 2008 toyota camry......obstructs view when it constantly dangles, especially on passenger side. the drivers side has already been replaced....now the passenger side is broken only 2 months out of warranty. i have already filed a complaint with toyota, but no word as of yet. this car has already had 3 major recalls, with my car being directly affected with 2 of them.

I have a 2008 toyota camry, when starting my auto, the engine races for appx. 30 seconds, then goes down. also in the last 5 weeks i have notice that the car lurches forward then goes back to the spend i have it on. i am very nervous driving this car, this problem just started happening about 5 or 6 weeks ago, at first i thought i was just thinking it was happening, but it seems to be getting more frequent. i have to drive it, it is the only car i have, so doctors appointments have to be keep, fear or not, i hope it does not go speeding an not stop, my mother is 82 a very afraid to get into the car, but we have to go places. we live on roads with inclines. very steep hills, one has a stop sign at the foot of it, but so far it does stop. it makes a loud engine noise. like a grinding of the engine, at first the brakes hesitate stopping but i push really hard on them and they stop it. i took it in for an inspection sticker an they said it passed. i told them about the problem. they said they did not know what to do about it at this time.

My 2008 toyota camry had problems from the day that i purchased it. i took it back to the dealer and also contacted toyota motor sales u.s.a. i have taken the car back to the dealer several times for the same problem. the national center for dispute settlement was called by the toyota motor sales u.s.a. and they also did not resolve the problem. i feel unsafe driving the car. the car races unexpectedly and lurches forward in stop and go traffic. i am afraid that the car is going to crash into something or someone. i have been complaining about this to the above since i purchased the car. the dealer kept my car for 8 days on one of my visits to their repair shop and told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. now that the toyota problem has been made public, i hope that my complaint will not be dismissed as before. i tried to ask toyota to buy back my car, i noticed the problem when the car only had 16 miles on it. can you please help? i kept all of the communications between the toyota and the ncds since the time i first filed my complaints with this problem. *tr

While driving (at various speeds) the sunvisor on the driver's side falls down blocking vision via the front windshield. as a safety measure and to prevent an accident i have taped by sunvisor in the up position to ensure in does not fall down. i called toyota and inquired as to whether there had been a recall and the said no. my only course of action is to pay to have sunvisor changed out.

My car is 2008 toyota camry le 4 cylynder. when i drive this car, the sunvisor not so good condition, loose and difficult fix it. finally it was broken when i return it normal place. it's could not fit anymore. it was very dangerous situation at that time because i couldn't see due to sunvisor drop.

The driver's side sun visor has broken and will not stay up in place. there is no way to keep this up and it becomes a driving hazard. removal of the visor then leaves the driver blind from the light of the sun in the morning and in the evening. it is apparent that this part fails on a regular basis and that toyota has continued to use the same mechanism in the toyota camry sun visor over a several year span and simply uses it as a revenue source from the driving public.
