Front bumber is too low to road, which causes bumper cover to come into contact with parking space tire stops, which then pops bumper cover loose from holding clips, which causes bumper cover to flap, drag, or come off when going down road. this has happened twice within 8 months.

My mechanic noticed that all 4 struts were leaking when i had my tires rotated. i noticed that my car was very unstable on the road and swaying all over the place. took the car to my toyota dealer. they said that the struts were leaking, but according to toyota extra care, some leakage is normal and the struts were not leaking enough to have them replaced under the warranty. the car continued to get worse and i took it back to a toyota dealer on 2/14/12. they told me all 4 struts were leaking past the normal amount and should be replaced. they also said the front and real links and bushings should be replaced because the car is all over the road and there is noise from these components. they contacted toyota extra care who said they needed to send an adjuster out to look at the vehicle. the adjuster said that only 2 struts were leaking enough to be replaced and no other parts needed replacing. he also said he didn't hear the noise. amazing! extra care has refused to honor the warranty on the other parts because they say they have not failed. the dealer claims they should all be replaced. i think it is absurd that toyota extra care is standing on a technicality on how much the struts are leaking and will not cover all 4. they are leaving me with an unsafe vehicle. the certified mechanics that have looked at my car all say that once the strut is leaking it should be replaced no question about it. i have read that this is a problem with many toyota camrys from this year. i paid for the extended warranty and toyota should do the right thing. not wait until more parts fail or i have an accident because the suspension is compromised. i will never purchase another toyota because of this. this is a safety issue that should be taken care of.

4 tires worn out about 28000 miles. i had to replace them this is because of suspension system problem that wears out the tires very fast. having wheel alignment does not solve the problem. i have aligned the wheels and still have wearing problem with new tires. i believe that toyota should fix this problem and compensate the loss.

Started hearing noise for rear of vehicle. at 58,000 it was evident that there was a problem as the noise became louder and the vehicle just did not handle/drive properly. took vehicle to local toyota dealership where i have all work done in past. they advised the rear tires were cupping, and that all four of the vehicles struts were leaking to the point they must be replaced. i have never ever had to replace a strut on a newer vehicle no less all four of them. i believe that there has to have been a manufacturing defect in these struts for all four to fail around the 50,000 mile range. i also believe this could lead to a safety issue and it should be investigated by the nhtsa.

While turning the toyota steering wheel, i can notice a severe clicking or thumping sound from the steering wheel. it appears there is a problem with the suspension or the struts. i took my toyota to get it check out a few months before the warranty expired. they indicated the struts were leaking. one strut was severely leaking so they replaced it. the other strut was also leaking but not as severe so it was not replaced. however, the steering column has the aforementioned noise and i know, through internet searches, that many owners have experienced this problem. it's likely a mass defect that should be looked at asap before someone is severely injured. my wife uses the car to take my children to school so i am very concerned about the safety of the vehicle.

I bought a new 2008 toyota camry in nov 2007, at around 50k miles i heard a grinding noise while driving and experienced vibration in the steering wheel . i brought it into the dealer and they noted the strut needed to be replaced. not soon after that repair @ around 80k miles i experienced the same noise and vibration in the wheel again and i took it to a les schwab auto shop they linked the problem to the struts and wheel bearings which caused uneven tire wear. as the car was still under warranty i took it to the dealer again, they agreed with the assessment from les schwab and replaced the struts again and the wheel bearing. the dealer agreed that i should not be replacing the struts as often as i was on a relatively new vehicle. dealer mentioned that it is a defect and toyota (the corporation) is aware of it and that i should be getting a letter in the mail to that effect. to date ( 2/26/10) i have received no such letter. the concern is that nhtsa has not yet gotten to the bottom of all the defects that are out there with the camry models for the years that are now being recalled for accelerator issues. with the recent recall i had to bring my camry in to get the gas pedal shortened and to install the shimmy to prevent the sudden acceleration. please look into the issue with the struts as the strut housing serves as a structural part of the suspension system and it connects the upper strut bearing to the lower ball joint so that the entire assembly can then pivot when the steering wheel is turned. struts therefore affects the driver's ability to steer and maneuver the vehicle safely, i now see that the corolla are being recalled for steering issues, i am concerned that this is not limited to only that model as my camry had issues with steering that was linked to defective struts. struts should not wear out as often as mine did on a new car. for the safety of toyota drivers investigate how many vehicles from 2007 to 2010 have had issues with struts. *tr
SUSPENSION - FRONT

Front end making rubbing and clicking noise while driving in reverse with the wheel turned; does not happen while driving forward and does not happen when the wheels are straight. i've had it in the service department of cramer toyota twice. both times they say the noise is coming from the plastic wheel well rubbing. the first time they replaced a bolt and now they have removed one of the covers. while trying to determine where the noise is coming from the front struts were discovered as leaking by tire kingdom. i returned the vehicle to cramer toyota and explained the struts are leaking and they agreed. when asked if this was normal for a vehicle with only 50,123 miles i was told it is not common, but not unheard of. this was the exact same answer i was given for my cracked and leaking battery which was discovered the first time i had it in for the noise. i have never had to replaced the struts in a new vehicle before...why should toyota camry's be any different? it appears this is a defect the manufacturer does not want to own up to. toyota wants $850 to replace the front parts only. tire kingdom, who discovered the problem while rotating and balancing my tires, wants $600 to replace the front parts only, but suggests the back be done at the same time for even where on all four sides. how many complaints does it take to get action with regards to a vehicle defect?

I own a 2008 toyota camry and have had a few serious problems that were never recognized by the toyota dealer which i always serviced the car. they range from small to serious. front struts seem to be leaking hydraulic fluid, i also complained about a steering problem to the dealer, they inspected the car and told me they found nothing wrong. the steering issue was very apparent, and now has gotten worse. when cornering at low or higher speeds the car seems to skip, and controlling the car gets much more difficult, which becomes a serious safety issue for me. there where service bulletins available for these issues but yet my car was never repaired. another issue i have noticed has been with braking, the car will vibrate dramatically once brakes are applied. the brakes have been replaced and rotors have been cut 5 months ago. the car has new tires and has been aligned in the past 6 months as requested by the toyota dealer, yet the steering problems persist. i feel very unsafe driving this car, in back of my mind i feel like something serious might happen every time i get in this car and drive it. i have no confidence driving this car. *tr

I recently purchase a 2008 toyota camry se. soon after i bought the car from toyota of sanford, located in nc, i notice my tires were cupping and making a lot of noise. i bought new tires and the noise stopped. just recently i took the car to midas to have a brake job. while the mechanic had the car on the lift, he observed that the rear struts were leaking fluid and advised me to contact toyota. upon further investigation, i have found that there are many of these new camrys with the same problem. my car only has 51000 miles on it and i think that toyota needs to own up to this problem and issue a recall to address this problem. i work very hard every day to provide for my family and pay my bills and feel that it is a shame for me to spend twent-thousand dollars on a vehicle that starts to fall apart within two years. thanks for allowing me to communicate this on-going problem and for serving the american people.
