| I have a 2005 chevrolet colorado 4x4 truck. i was getting over in left hand lane to avoid a truck and trailer that had stopped about 4 car lengths ahead of me when the front passenger tire snapped off the spindle and sent the truck down into the road. the hole tire snapped off and flew by the window taking the mirror and door handle with it. the tire was not flat and still had lugnuts fully locked on it when i picked it up off the other side of the road. my auto body guy said it looked like the metal , spindle, and axel just broke in half . *tr | |||

| Abnormal tire wear and suspension noises on chevrolet colorado 4 x4 2005 model. with less that 20,000 miles both front tires were worn into the steel belts. i replace both tire and had the front end aligned by a local tire store. 5000 miles later the insides were wearing again. this time i took the truck to the local chevrolet dealer in anderson,sc. i had several items to be addressed before my original warranty expired. one of these items was the front end assemby- squeaks and rattles plus the tire wear. the local dealer kept my truck overnight and reported that i probably needed to get the front-end aligned and i would have to pay for this service because the original tires were not on the truck. the original tires were not on the truck because they were worn out. i had visited my car stats.com to read problems associated with 2005 colorado. one complaint number 10156778 told of a gm service bulletin concerning torsion bar setup on the colorado. i asked the chevrolet dealer to check service bulletin 1686447. they reset the entire front end. i will not know whether or not this fixed the situation until enough miles have been placed on the truck to check for wear. i really appreciate the mycarstats.com website. without this information my local dealer would have done nothing to fix this problem. *tr | |||

| I had been noticing mild vibration at highway speeds and mild pull during braking. i accidentally discovered i had severe inside edge tire wear after only 30,000 miles on the vehicle. i went online and found a tsb relating to the tire wear. i brought this to the attention of my dealer, who replaced the front tires and adjusted the z height of the front suspension. 5,000 miles later, i again found severe inside edge wear on my front tires, which the dealership claimed was due to a misalignment which they adjusted. recent inspection of my tires again showed continued, severe, inside tire wear, at 46000 miles. obviously, the dealership and manufacturer have not acted strongly enough to correct the problem. had i not accidentally discovered the tire wear when i did, i might of had a front end blowout at highway speeds | |||

| Took vehicle to dealership for excessive wear of inside of the front tires. since vehicle was at 13000 miles the factory warranty was no longer covered for any repair. dealership was not going to cover anything. they were going to charge a $40 fee just to evaluate the problem. since the front end was out of alignment the fee was waived and was charged $59.95 for the alignment. took vehicle to a tire store and paid for a new set of tires for a total repair of over $200. research shows that this is a common problem but manufacturer denies any problem. complaint was filed with manufacturer same day. *jb | |||

| I took my 2005 chevrolet colorado (purchased in late june 2005) in for a pennsylvania required vehicle inspection. the inspection station refused to inspect the vehicle due to tire ware and improper front alignment. i made an appointment at the dealership to check the problem and vehicle inspection. the dealer informed me my vehicle had to many miles on it for the warranty to cover it. i have not had the vehicle for a year yet and the alignment is already out and tires are worn. looking at you site i can see problems with these vehicles for the front end alignment. the dealer rotated my tires and inspected my vehicle. he informed me that i should as soon as possible have the vehicle in for an alignment. *nm | |||

| Excessive front tire wear on inside edge of tire - both tire. my problem with the front end on my 2005 4x4 according to the gm, the cause: 4wd models z-height trim incorrect, result is toe out. this mentions in gm reference: id # 1686447 or # 04-03-07-004b july 22, 2005 it's not an alignment problem, it's the torsion bar. the bars are not adjusted correctly in the factory. these trucks were coming out of the factory screwed up. tsb's address this problem by adjusting the z-height (torsion bar adjustment)*jb | |||

| 2005 colorado pickup w/ sport suspension (zq8) erratic ride height in rear of vehicle causes rear axle misalignment. in the rear, one side of vehicle sits closer to the ground than the opposite side causing rear axle to protrude from wheel well on higher side of vehicle, this causes wheel alignment problems (a dog/crab walking condition) where rear axle steers/leads vehicle , i.e. left rear ride height is lower than right rear ride height and axle is shifted so as right rear wheel protrudes from wheel well of vehicle causing dog/crab walking condition-front wheels are not followed in line by rear wheels t. it appears a simple correction of the ride height by replacement of rear springs/shocks may correct the problem, adjusting rear of vehicle to level ride height is required for proper wheel alignment. dog walking condition is not caused by crooked bed alignment as per dealer/technician. dog walking condition causes property damage to wheel when turning into curve with rear leading side of vehicle near curb and can cause pedestrian injury if dog walking vehicle jumps curb due to the dog tracking condition during turning. *jb | |||
