Consequence SummaryThe affected mounting bolts may not withstand sufficient force to function properly in certain impact situations, increasing the risk of injury to a belted occupant.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the shoulder belt height adjuster mounting bolts.

Consequence SummaryIf the retractor does not work properly, it will not adequately protect occupants in the event of a crash.

 The consumer received 3 recall letters on the vehicle since ownership. in every instance, the consumer contacted the local sales and service dealer for a remedy. the dealer advised the parts were not currently available and stated they would contact the consumer once they arrived. the consumer was never contacted by the dealer for the remedies, so the recalls remained open. the most recent recall involved the seat belts. *jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle shut off and stopped in the middle of the freeway. the contact was able to maintain control of the vehicle, although the brakes and power steering failed. someone had to assist her with steering the vehicle to the side of the road. the police was called and the vehicle was towed to the auto repair shop. there had not been any engine failure prior to this incident. the auto shop stated that engine sludge coated the engine. it would cost $5,000 to replace the engine. the failure mileage was 60,000. updated 2/23/09 *cn the passenger seat belt was difficult to unfasten and the rear passenger door had to be opened from the outside. updated 02/26/09. *jb

 Due to location of buckle for seat belt consumer has a problem undoing the belt. *ak the buckle is hard to press and seat belt was placed between the front seats and it is too far. *yh

 1999 chrysler concord with engine problems customer wants the blue book value for the car from the dealership**cc the consumer stated the engine had to rebuilt due to sludge build-up. a mechanic informed the consumer, the vehicle was built with a faulty oil pump, which was too small for the engine. the front seat belt retractor were replaced. *jb

 Rear passenger's seatbelt recoiled but would not come back out. it was stuck, causing loss of protection. *ak
