 There are no injuries or fatalities associated with this alleged defect.while conducting this investigation, odi found that the subject cinches meet the load bearing requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard 208, and that many of the reported failures were due to incorrect child safety seat installations. additionally, the report rate is low (1.60/100k).the information available fails to establish the existence of a defect trend at this time.further allocation of agency resources to this issue is unwarranted and the preliminary evaluation is being closed.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the safety belt cable failed on the vehicle. as a result, the seat belt would not latch. the dealer stated that the failure was due to natural wear and tear on the vehicle; therefore, they would not assume responsibility for the repairs. the repair would cost over $200. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were less than 85,000. updated 09/14/09. *lj updated 09/15/09.*jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chrysler sebring. the contact stated that the front driver and passenger side seat belt retractor mechanisms would not release properly. there was no warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated that the failure was related to the seat belt control timer. he was concerned of the safety risk involved. the vehicle has not yet been taken to an authorized dealer for repair. the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 96,000.

 Driver's seat belt will not retract properly, leaving occupant without any retraint if needed. dealer notified, and is awaiting on part since the above incident date. . *ak consumers said that seat belt works but the one installed is a rear seat belt lies on a side of a seat back chewing and jams between seat back. *yh

 The seat belt male part does not always stay attached when inserted into female end. there have been numereous occasions when the seat belt just popped out while i was driving. last august while driving to florida the drivers side seat belt popped out and i could not get it to work for a whole day. i complained to the dealership in colorado springs (lithia colorado springs jeep chrysler plymouth, 719-475-1155) took my vehicle in. they could not get it to act up so they said they could not do anything. i complained to the manager, called the co attorney general, chrysler home office and no one would help, said they would do nothing. i'm still having problems with my seat belt attaching properly. the dealer i listed, is who we purchased the car from. the dealer who has done all the repairs and checking is in colorado springs, @ 1250 s nevada ave.  Driver's restraint jammed. dealer has inspected vehicle, and ordered replacement part. part was on back order.*ak
