The air bag light came on and stayed on. told it was a tensioner switch in the seat belt clip side. they want an over priced $200 to fix this problem. plus $88 just to diagnose it. i think this was all quite over priced. i will baypass this switch shorting the wires before if i have to pay for something like this. chrysler should pay for this regardless of in or out of warranty. this was a defective part it was their fault in my opinion.*ak

The airbag light on my 2004 chrysler sebring convertible came one. taking it to the dealer, they indicated the driver's side seat belt pre-tensioner needed to be replaced. it had already been replaced once before under warranty. the dealer stated that the car was 3 months out of warranty that it would be my responsibility to replace it. when i balked, the dealer gave me the part and charged me for the labor. i followed up with chrysler indicating that i felt this was a recurring safety related defect and as such, they should fix it for free. i was told that the free part was all the goodwill gesture that i would receive. the car currently has less than 14,000 miles on it and a component of the safety restrain system has already failed twice. chrysler does not seem to be concerned, so i am filing a complaint with the nhtsa as i feel that this is not an isolated occurrence. *jb
