| I noticed the vehicle making a humming/rubbing sound coming from the rear end when moving 20-35mph and coming to a stop. i parked the vehicle until i was able to get it to the dealership, so the technician could test drive and locate the problem. upon his initial leaving he heard nothing so he proceeded to pick up the speed to 55mph to check for vibration in a neutral coast down. upon reaching 45mph the drive-shaft completely snapped and separated from the rear end assembly, resulting in the rear end completely locking up and sending the truck spinning out of control and the drive shaft swinging violently underneath the truck until the truck came to rest in the middle of the road. upon further inspection when the truck was towed back to the dealership the technician noticed the rack and pinion assembly completely unthreaded itself from the driveshaft resulting in a catastrophic failure of the rear end. as a result it completely destroyed the gears and components within the rear end housing including deep gashes into the housing itself rendering it unsafe to re-build on. the dealership has since ordered a whole new rear end assembly to be purchased and placed on the truck and currently waiting on parts as i write this letter. *tr | |||

| I have a 2010 ram with 50k miles on it and just got a wake up call. while running with rush hour traffic, i took my foot off the gas, heard a loud whine, then kablam!!! the rear of the truck locked up and kicked me dead sideways, luckily i had just gotten into a gap between traffic. nothing like having a full size crew cab truck sliding sideways on an interstate in the middle of traffic. i managed to get the truck straightened up and as it was about to slide around the other way i heard the rear end explode and the rear wheels freed up and i got off the side of the road. kudos to the drivers behind me, cars and the 2 18 wheelers that were able to avoid t boning me as i went on this wonder ride. i climbed out the passenger door and called my dealer, they hooked me up with roadside and an hour later!!! with rush hour traffic just missing my truck by inches, i got to my dealer. they have yet to get it on the rack to look at it. i did crawl under it in the lot. drive shaft fell off. the pinion apparently came loose, i can see it inside the differential and all the threads are present. the drive shaft is beat all up, you can see where it hung on the frame when the truck went sideways. the front of the dif looks cracked, the pinion is inside the dif wedged against everything. the trans seams to be leaking fluid as well, cracked????? this is a major safety issue!!!! first mine is not the only ram this has happened to. my dealer has had 1 other in for the same issue, and another for no oil in the rear diff. its just a matter of time before this seriously hurts or kills someone. i have many moons of driving experience under my belt and was able to keep the truck from splattering. call it skill, luck, whatever, but it could've turned out very badly. | |||

| As you're driving, regardless of where-when you come across a bump in the road, hole, speed bump, railroad tracks, etc.; the entire front end of the truck jumps. the steering wheel moves completely from your hands. this has caused several very close encounters while driving down the highway. the truck jumps and shimmy's from side to side. this happens every time you drive, regardless of the speed. the car dealer said it was a result of leakage in the seals with the shocks. however, there is still a problem. | |||

| Child seat tether strap anchor rings installed on 2010 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. the owner's manual clearly states in the child restraint installation sequence on page 75 paragraph 3 pass each tether strap hook under the head restraint and through the loop of webbing behind the child seat paragraph 4 states route each tether strap to the anchor behind the center seat, and attach to the hook(s) to the metal ring on page 76 as pictured item 1 the inner anchor strap ring(s) clearly shows the required anchor ring for the attachment of the child seat tether hook. the required 3 tether loop straps are installed as required but do not have the required metal anchor rings on either strap in order to attach the child car seat tether hook. this is a major safety issue for anyone wishing to properly install a child car/booster seat which has a tether strap for use. | |||
