| I just bought a used 2000 ford taurus....i was wondering why my tires were screeching every time i drove, my tires bald badly within a week or two...took it to a mechanic he told me that the right lower control line was bent and thats why i really cant drive anywhere. i am very concerned about my car i need a vehicle to work and see my daughter... | |||

| The air bag light appeared on the dashboard until the vehicle was turned off. the consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer for analysis and the mechanic noticed that air bag module needed replacement. *ak the air bag light would come on when the vehicle was started and the vehicle lost all electrical power. the consumer had to turn off the auto defrost, and then turn it back on to reset the componets. also when the failure occurred the consumer had to place the vehicle in park and a loud metal sound came from the front of the vehicle and it would have to be shut down before placing the vehicle in park. the valet switch on the left side of the steering column had fallen off. *scc *jb | |||

| The brake system in our car has not performed properly on wet roads many times. on jan 21st, 2002 and mar 13th, 2002, we asked muzi ford to fix this problem. they could not find the problem. they reported, it is common to confuse abs activation with difficulty stopping. in fact, our car is not equipped with abs. on the morning of jan 17th, 2003, my husband was driving in the slow lane of i-95; the car in front of our car came to a sudden stop. he immediately braked. he was still far away, and the speed was only 45-50 mph, the road was wet and our cars brake system did not work properly and it hit the front car. there are many problems with our car. the emergency brake on/off has been adjusted, the transmission fluid and both front axle seal have leaked twice; steeling fluid has leaked once, the brake light, gas cap assembly and solenoid canister have been replace, and the wiper motor park switch has been recalled. please help us to solve the brake system problem with ford motor company.*jb note: did not count as crash for rq03008 since crash was not due to brake light issue. | |||

| Now the car has 12,ooo miles, i have to wait three weeks to take it back in. this time i have these problems, the power sunroof switch works when it wants to,the power steering started to make noise, has to add fluid, again it makes more noise,last song on cd's stick. this is the iceing on the cake tonight i go to dinner,when i come out, i smelled gasoline when the car started, i thought that maybe it was another car. went to bbest but, was gone for 25 minutes, came back started car, and again smell of gasoline. i made a appointment to take care in was given daate of sept 6. i will call thurs. i will raise cane. this car has had too many problems. i bought it with 6 miles. very disappointed | |||

| This is the third time in less than four months i have had to have the car into the shop for the same problem. the first time the car stalled as i was accelerating through an intersection after being stopped at a red light. the car would not restart and i had to be towed after owning the car for 17 days. the second and third time the car stalled it was while going 20-30 mph after having idled in heavy traffic. both times the car restarted. each time before it stalled the engine coughed and idled roughly, the rpm needle bounced wildly and then the car died including power steering and brakes. the first time the dealer replaced the fuel pressure sensors and said that would take care of the problem. three weeks later it stalled for the second time. the dealer i took it to that time said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and that i would just have to wait for it to happen again. this last time they said they would probably have to replace the fuel pump but that it could take up to 2 weeks since ford is having problems delivering the parts. i find this unacceptable since there are already a number of identical complaints in your data base including from fleet services who have had multiple cars fail. the first dealer even said he was having a problem with a number of the tauruses he had sold recently. this cannot be coming as a big surprise to ford motor company. the most recent service manager also said and i quote that from my perspective i don't see this as a major problem. so now i am stuck with rental car fees and car payments because ford can not offer reliable service in a timely fashion. to date the car has been unavailable to me for 13 days and counting. ford just doesn't seem to show ample concern that stalling unexpectedly on the highway places my life, others' lives and the patients' under my care lives in danger. you would think after the firestone/explorer fiasco they would at least pay lip service to the idea of quality customer service. *ak | |||

| Dt: contact stated while driving she went to make a right turn and the vehicle made a horrid noise. the vehicle did not steer to the right. she drove the vehicle home. her husband checked the vehicle and found there was no power steering fluid in the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic. they checked the vehicle and determined the rack and pinion steering failed. repairs will be made at contact's expense.*ak | |||

| On march 16, 04, a part to correct the steering on my 2000 ford taurus was replaced. in october 05, the same part needed to be replaced. i was told the parts are only under warranty for 12 months. the steering wheel was almost impossible to turn. i have paid to have this part replaced. *jb | |||

| I have had to replace my rack and pinion twice (in 2003 and 2004). i purchased my 2000 ford taurus new and have been the only owner. this vehicle has not been in any accident. i am curious if there has been any other complaints or recalls on the rack and pinion for this vehicle. *ak | |||

| When i purchasesd this car from peyton cramer ford last summer i complained about a groaning noise in the steering column. the first diagnosis was a problem with the rack & pinion, which i thought sounded fairly serious. when the parts were replaced the noise was still there and a new diagnosis was made and more steering parts were replaced. i returned the car to the dealer two more times before my simple complaint was taken care of. i expressed concern to the service manager about the number of steering problem they found and was assured that the car was completely safe. three weeks ago as i was driving on a flat, dry stretch of road, the car suddenly made a violent right turn. when i tried to correct it there was no response as the car continued to the right, slamming into a curb causing extensive damage to the right front suspension. i had the car towed to the dealer and they have made the repairs and claim that they have no idea what could have happened. but, again, i was assured that the car was safe. i do not believe this car is safe and wanted to trade it in on a new car. when i explained my situation i was given a very minimal deal told that anything further could be taken up with ford. i have filed a complaint wih ford (9007826298) and will also file a complaint with the state of california.*ak | |||

| I have had the rack and pinion replaced it has failed again. the front half shafts have been replaced they have failed again. i have paid for many four wheel alignments which won't hold. i've paid for new brakes and many tire and wheel balancning which also haven't helped. carl gregory ford doesn't know what is wrong with the front end of my car and refuse to do any other repairs until the engineer drives it. i've had one appointment with the engineer for which he didn't show up. the next appointment is july 29 who knows what run around i will get then. i have had an ongoing problem with the front end of my car for over 7 months and 10000 miles. the car will not hold an alignment, the front end pops,grinds, and cracks, and drives very loose. it does not handle the road well at all. it isn't safe for me, especially for my children not to mention any other vehicle on the road anywhere near me. the dpfe sensor has also been replaced, what is that? please help me to get my car safe to drive again. thanks.*ak | |||

| Catastrophic failure of driver-side front spring during a turn on residential streets, causing temporary loss of control and near collision. ejection of broken portion of spring caused no injuries nor damage to tire of vehicle in question; however, other vehicles passed over resulting debris and drove on, possibly suffering tire damage that was not immediately apparent. evidently, ford has acknowledged a problem with these front coil springs, issuing a recall, but has failed to extend it to cover all failures. the incident described herein demonstrates that the condition is clearly a safety issue. | |||
