A year after the purchase of my new 2004 gmc envoy xuv my service engine light came on and an authorized service tech said i needed a new gas cap because of a small vapor leak. i bought the new cap and a few months later the engine light came on and again i bought another cap. from then i had been told by different mechanics that the vapor leak is coming from the nozzle the cap attaches to but today for the first time i was told i would fail my smog check because the vapor leak according to their diagnostics was not coming from the nozzle, but somewhere else near the tank. after research on recalls and complaints, i found out that my problem was similar to other complaints, that being the gm service bulletin 05-06-04-014a: info - diagnostic aids for trouble codes p0440, p0455 & / or p0442 fuel was leaking from the crack, and that the 2002 - 2004 envoy may have issues with a crack in the gas tank filler neck as well. i checked out the assembly system and yep my filler tank connection from hose to tank is loose and showing evidence of gas leaking down the tank. it wasn't a small vapor leak, it is a mushroom cloud event just waiting to happen to my backside! the interesting part of this disaster is that they did this as far back as i could search, so far as early as 2001. gm had advised their mechanics that the problem was resolved and redesign of the system was in place with welded units attaching the components, rather than rubber booting to plastic tanks. i have the internal memo of their declarations for three years so far. today, i'm in possession of a loaded bomb and see that tsb's are issued for years through 2009. plus theres a discrepancy with service warranties of 10 years or 120,000 miles vs 150,000, i have those internal documents from gm to the dealers as well. i cant afford this. other envoy owners i've talked to are saying the same things exactly.

This vehicle seems to have an electircal drain or electrical ghost of some sorts. the battery has been replaced by the dealer 4 time with the previous owner. that was the dealers cure. then when i purchased it i replaced the battery.then it was replaced for the 6th time 18 months later. the rear window on the tail gate kept going down on it's own until the motor flew apart. the window behind the rear seat went down on it's own and does not work anymore. the retractable back roof will not engage due to the rear window. driving down the road the ac will come on by itself also the radio, the seat heaters. now while i'm driving at night the headlights will go out on their own, luckily the bright lights still work, but that's not helping the poor soul in front of me. gm says that there is no recall on any of this but i'm almost terrified to drive this vehicle or let anyone else drive it at night or anytime for that matter. not to mention any kind of electrical problems that i may of overlooked.

2004 envoy xuv, impeccably maintained, had *no* response to accelerator as i made a left turn at a light across oncoming traffic. service engine soon and reduced engine power lights illuminated on dash. was fortunate not to have an accident. pulled to side of road. turned off engine. restarted, and it ran okay but the service engine soon light reappeared. drove another 35 miles with light on. the next morning it had re-set and the light is gone from the dash. how in the world does gm expect us to be able to replicate such incidents for a tech to fix? such failures will eventually kill someone.

Erratic speed ometer readings, happens 3-4 times weekly. this happens from your actual speed of 40-60mph, you look down next second and you are going 100-120pmh per odometer. when you come to a stop it says your still going 90-110mph, only way to reset your odometer is to pull over and restart your car about 50-60 times until it says 0 mph. sometimes this wont last but 5 min... this also increases your cars mileage. gmc will not repair this with out charging you 600 dollars. this is not safe for anyone on the road and not fair to people owing cars, or buiying cars to have not actual mileage on a car nor to be able to drive saftly.

I purchased a 2004 gmc envoy xuv and have several significant problems with this vehicle. after researching it seem others have had the same troubles. since we owned the vehicle, the rear window is found down and noone was even in/near the vehicle. it continues to work but still will go down by itself. a year ago i had to replace the fuel tank, this was right after we took it in for inspection on a recall of smelling gas fumes while drving and possible corrosion in fuel lines. of course the fuel lines were not corroded so we were told. i footed the bill $800+ to get a new fuel tank ,as neck on tank was cracked and was told that this is why we smelled gas. luckily, i went to my garage and saved several hunderd dollars from the dealers cost to repair. last weekend 9/10/10 my family was driving to town and the middle window unexpectedly dropped and now does not work. i researched an it seems to be a regulator issue and will cost around $500, wow! over the last two weeks there is a rattle when we turn on our ac. again after we were in for service as we had the ac charged at the start of summer. i can see where i have the same troubles as a lot of others and feel, the same as they do, left holding the bag by gmc and no way out but, to look for a new/used vehicle and get rid of this vehicle.

I have speedometer problems with my 2004 suv envoy xuv and i am believe this to be more of a recall problem than just bad luck and my hear shift in the truck is going out the electronic acutator, all of this is just unreal with these car and trucks having these type malfunction and the make does not want to honor the repairs. i have never in my many of cars along with family member had auto repair such as this. i can't wait to got back to a foreign and i will never buy another gmc again. gmc said thy would get the deal to help with half the repair, but the deal here changed names and management from millsaps to teeams auto. these cars cost way too much for things like this to go wrong. i want to voice my opinion about to an organization that will at least read about it. the consumer has to pay way to much for something they already paid for. my truck is rolling miles that i am not really driving and this is sad. i made the mistake of getting this truck used and that was a terrible mistake especially when the maker does not car enough about the consumer to make it right. this is probably some of the problems with the economy now and that the little man has to pay the cost because the money makers will not honor right with the consumers, you can't cheat people and/or be dishonest and think it will not come back to you. i have not had performance failure, but i am concern about my safety with such problems as gear shift electronic actuator failing. *tr
