My truck is a work truck diven by an employee, i have just recently become aware of a condition regarding the instrument cluster, wherein the whole panel does not work, i was advised by the employee that this happened quite some time ago, but was never made aware. i contacted gmc but apparently, because this is considered a special policy recall (only if someone complains - and within a specified time period 7 yrs or 80,000 miles) they will not repair this defect. i never received a notice, nor was i aware of the problem within that time period. i was further informed by my worker that at the time the panel went out, the fan for the heater/air condition unit appeared to smoke and now it does not work. here again, i have not received any recall notices for this defect either. finally, in my attempts to get the cluster repaired, i have been informed that there is a recall on the hydro boost accumulator... i have not once received a recall notice on this vehicle and i purchased this vehicle new. my vehicle has 101,000 miles on it. you would think that a vehicle of this nature would last longer than 100,000. but apparently not... also, when these is such a major recall out on a vehicle you would think that gmc would contact you and advise you of this problem..

Recieved a conditional letter from gm stating that my vehicle my experience a condition resulting from corrosion that may effect the relay resistor module and wire connector for the heater/hvac fan motor. the letter states that the wire and/or resistor could overheat. this may be accompanied by a burning smell or smoke. i have first hand knowledge that a co-workers truck caught fire on july 26, 2011 do to this specific problem. several people have complained via the internet about fire damage from this condition. i have talked to general motors about this issue and they failed to react. my co-worker did not have any systoms prior to his vehicle catching fire under his dash that totaled his truck. i am concerned that my truck wil lcatch fire without notice and as a result potentially burn down my house. whenever someone discribes a symptom as a burning smell or smoke it is potentially to late to fix the issue and could cause bodly harm or death.

Allison transmission housing failed at 54,000 miles. gm paid parts, i paid 1,200.00 labor , was told that there was 2 bulletins out on defective housing and when they finished repair they said they installed updated housing so i would not have problem again. don't think i should have paid anything to have it repaired! at 105,000 miles transfer case failed , cost 1,150.00 to repair, have had to take back 2 more times as repair was not done right. at 112.000 miles speedometer became erratic was told it was a common problem ,and see on complaint search it is , consider this a great safety danger as i do not know what speed i'm going can only guess not fixed yet found some who sells rebuilt ones foe 150.00 ,said their rebuilding them due the large number that are failing. also at 112,000 miles park neutral switch started acting up ,check engine light on ,shift bar light goes away, truck won't shift properly and stay in certain gears without shifting up ,effects door locks. looked up park neutral shift as part and came across bulletins stating that during left hand turn front tire sprays water onto park neutral ,switch causing problem ,needs front & rear shield installed to solve problem. have taken truck back in waiting for information. also around 90,000 miles had very hard time starting truck and truck ran poorly, problem became worse took in, fuel injectors were bad and were replaced under warranty at 112,000 miles no need to say i'm not a gmc fan anymore , even though i live in lansing mi ( a gm town)and have lots of friends and family employed there. good by gmc! never again. *tr
