| This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. the tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.in such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.the application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.on august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.the investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm | ||||||

| While driving at any speed the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer replaced the accelerator and the cruise cables. within 10 months after the repair was made the problem recurred while driving. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the dealer informed the consumer that the throttle body needed to be replaced. *jb | |||

| Original transmission was slipping and truck going into a neutral while on highway, took to dealer and they kept it 11 days had to replace entire transmission. now, aprx 6 weeks later truck is again not shifting right, put in reverse from parked position, press accelerator and the truck slams into gear. when in drive from parked position accelerate and it revs and revs and finally slams into drive then intermittently while driving goes in & out of gear. pretty disgusted for a xmas gift at $45,000.00 never expected this. *ak | |||

| Passenger and both rear seat power windows quite working at the same time. this could possibly be a danger in case of an accident. i have found numerous complaints of this problem on 2000 yukons. throttle pedal sticks and you have to use excessive pressure to unstick it. this causes you to move forward or backward at a high rate of speed. this is an accident waiting to happen as you start off or are in a busy parking lot. could cause injury to pedesterian or small child. i have also seen numerous complaints of this problem filed on 2000 yukons. passenger seat belt tightens as you ride to the point of causing pain, you must disengage seat belt and rengage to correct problem. this is also is a danger as you could be unbelted when an accident happens. i also have seen numerous complaints on this problem. there have been service bullentins on these problems, but gm refuses to pay the repair cost on our vehicle. they have been aware of these problems since these vehicles were in warranty. i purchased a 1996 yukon new and had it until trading for this 2000 yukon, i never had a complaint. their quality assurance has sure gone down hill since 1996.*ak | |||
