Fuel gauge not working, jumps all over the place... shows half tank and then rises to full while driving or the other way around. called gmc and they are aware of this problem, said fuel pump needs replacing and is happening on many vehicles but its not a recall.

2005 faulty gmc yukon dash sytem. dealer originally told me it was the fuel pump but suggested it might be alcohol in the gasoline. i tried using ethanol free gas and it worked. i couldn't find any ethanol free gas on dec 25th so i had to use 10% ethanol and my entire dash has quit working. i can't tell how fast i'm going, if i have fuel or how many miles i have on my vehicle. the gmc dealership wants me to replace my fuel pump, dash board and they estimate it will cost around $1500. it worked fine without ethanol!

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 gmc yukon. while parked with the engine running he could smell gasoline coming from the vehicle. upon examination he could see gasoline spraying out like mist from underneath the vehicle. the vehicle was shut off and the gasoline began to drip from underneath. he looked under the vehicle and noticed the fuel was leaking from two small holes pierced through one of the fuel lines. the vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure and has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were unavailable. sm.
