| Defect Summary | On certain motor homes, an incorrect screw was used to install the black and white crt back-up monitor in the dash. the incorrect screws are 1/4 longer than specified and may contact a pc board inside the monitor which could potentially hit a high voltage circuit on the pc board of approximately 10,000-13,000 volts. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | If the screw makes contact with the high voltage tracer on the pc board and someone would touch the screw head while the power is on, an electrical shock could occur causing injury. | |||||||||||||||
| Corrective Summary | Dealers will inspect the back-up monitor to verify the operation of the monitor free of charge. if the monitor is operating properly, the repair will consist of replacing the incorrect screw with the specified screw and testing for proper operation. if the monitor is not operating properly on initial inspection, the monitor will be replaced using the correct screw. the recall began on february 9, 2007. owners may contact monaco at 877-332-9239. | |||||||||||||||

| I own a 2007 holiday rambler admiral motorhome with a carefree eclipse electrically operated awning on the right side. on our trip out, while driving, i noticed in my rear view mirror that the awning arms were slightly ajar. they were fully closed earlier in the day. after arriving at our destination, i opened the awning. from the one quarter open position it snapped quickly to the full open position- i.e., not under the control of the electric opening motor. a visual check by me confirmed the gear mechanism was turning the rod attached to the roller the awning wrapped around, but the roller itself was not moving, and therefore would not retract. a customer service rep at carefree recommended rolling the awning in by hand, and then using bungee cords or straps to hold the awning arms in, and take to a repair facility. i told them i was returning home and they gave me a warranty location. on the way home, even though the canopy was rolled up and the awning arms tied, the canopy unrolled. had this happened without the awning arms being physically locked up by me, the awning would have fully extended 8 feet into the lane to the right. in addition, the awning may have acted as a sail and caused me to lose control of my coach. to lock the awning arms in, i had to drill holes in the mounting rails near the top- without these holes being drilled, it was not feasible to lock the awning arms in place. thus, had i tried to drive the coach by simply rolling the awning up until its cover was over-center, it definitely would have fully extended when the awning unrolled in the airstream. i was driving at approximately 55 mph when this occurred. *tr | |||

| Tl*the contacts owns a 2007 holiday rambler admiral fifth wheel trailer. while driving in reverse at 1 mph, the two rear wheels were rubbing. the contact discovered that the passenger side bracket, which was welded to the bottom of the frame, had detached from the frame. a mechanic noticed that the other three brackets were cracked from the frame. the contact stated that recall # 04v483000 (structure:frame and members) is the exact same failure she is experiencing. the manufacturer denied any failure regarding the frame. the contact found that the name (venture frames) on the trailer frame is the same one that was recalled in 2004 for structure failure. the manufacturer told the contact that it was not possible to have this frame on her trailer. the contact stated that there is a stamp located on the frame from the builder as proof. the trailer is currently at a shop for repair. since this is a trailer, no engine size, cylinders, transmission type, mileage, fuel type or system, powertrain, usage, brake system, and cruise control information were available. | |||
