| Yesterday (3/4/2013), i lifted open the trunk, on my honda odyssey 2008 (ex-l). i noticed that it was a little heavy to lift. when i lifted it all the way up and let it go, it immediately came down on my head. luckily, i was able to catch it before it hit my head. the trunk door would not stay in the open position, and comes down to a hard close if not held open by hand. so far, i have not received any communication from honda on the below mentioned recall, that is same as the issue i am facing report receipt date: feb 16, 2012 nhtsa campaign number: 12v062000 component(s): structure potential number of units affected: 45,747 recall notification :honda. 2008- early 2009 model year honda odyssey ex-land touring models power liftgate gas struts | |||

| The r & r glove box locked and will not open. after two attempts by mechanics, i was told i would need to replace the striker and lock at an exorbitant cost to me. this vehicle has less than 30ooo miles. what would cause the glove compartment to lock and not unlock? | |||

| Rear liftgate struts failed causing liftgate to fall suddenly on me beneath the rear door. honda has already issued a recall on some 2008 models. when i called the dealer and honda customer support regarding the incident, they refused to cover repair under recall. informed about safety concern but no acknowledgment by honda that this is a safety issue with potential for injury. recall should be expanded to cover more vehicles than acknowledged by honda. honda should act responsibly to prevent injury to owners of these vehicles and recall and replace all affected vehicles before more injuries occur. the dealership told me it would cost me $200 to replace the struts. my odyssey does not have electric component struts for the rear hatch. | |||

| Rear lift gate was in fully open position then fell and hit me on head while removing groceries from the rear of the vehicle. appears that the lift gate struts failed. the lift gate operates manually, not electronically or automatically. | |||

| While driving with foot on the gas the vehicle felt as if i was pumping the breaks but i was not touching the breaks. it was slowing. i then heard a rattling noise so i turned off the radio and opened the window to listen. i continued to drive and felt the same break pumping sensation again. i was near the dealer so i headed there to report the issues. directly in front of the dealer i felt a vibration under my foot on the gas pedal and hear a vibration sound. i arrived at the dealer to report the incident. i told the service rep. that i'd reported the same sensation 11 months ago while driving on vacation (while on the freeway). when i returned home i brought the vehicle to dealership but they found nothing. i'm afraid to drive it. if it does this while someone is driving directly behind me it will cause an accident. i honestly don't feel that is it is safe for me or others on the road to drive the vehicle. i'm afraid it will do the same thing on the freeway while i'm traveling at a high rate of speed. at this moment i feel like it is a death trap and will not drive it. i'm waiting from the dealership in the morning. | |||

| Non powered trunk lift on my ex odyssey just stopped working. i have to literally push the trunk and keep it in position and hold it, use the trunk and then leave the door slowly, without which the trunk door will slam on its own. i hear about recalls on this issue, seems like its applicable even to non powered models. | |||

| The tailgate struts failed when my wife opened the tailgate causing a bruise on her head. skin was not broken. the struts failed slightly on the 27th and lowered the tail gate a few inches. a few days later, they failed completely and tail gate is hard to open and must be held open or it falls rapidly. the struts need to be replaced. i will take it to the dealer to see if they will honor recall, even if vin is not included on recall list or perhaps the part failure may also be covered under extended warranty. | |||

| The struts on my 2008 honda odyssey ex-l failed this morning. it is not covered by the current recall from feb 16, 2012, since my odyssey does not have a power liftgate. people still have to use the liftgate (powered or not), and it poses a big risk to the person under the liftgate. while supporting the liftgate with my head, i had to pull out my bicycle from the vehicle with both hands. as i moved, the liftgate would hurt me since it was only being kept open by my body. as soon as i moved out, it closed with a big bang. this is a major risk especially to the demographics of the users of the odyssey: moms with young children. this is a common problem as evidenced by this forum thread (11 pages long): http://www.odyclub.com/forums/52-2005-2010-odyssey/40133-tailgate-gas-strut-problems.html related recall: vehicle make / model: honda / odyssey model year(s): 2008-2009 manufacturer: honda (american honda motor co.) mfr's report date: feb 16, 2012 nhtsa campaign id number: 12v062000 nhtsa action number: pe11034 component: structure:body:hatchback/liftgate:support device | |||

| On approximately november 5, 2011 my husband went out to our 2008 honda odyssey to retrieve some items. he opened the rear liftgate as usual and while he was retrieving the bags the rear door gave way falling onto his back. the struts that hold the door up failed and can no longer support the weight of the door. not only is it difficult to lift the door, but my husband and i have since been using a piece of wood to hold up the door when needed. i understand there is a recall of certain 2008-2009 honda odyssey rear liftgate struts for this exact same problem( nhtsa campaign id# 12v062000). however, i was told by the staff and manager at phillipsburg easton honda that this recall does not apply to my vehicle eventhough it has the same exact problem listed in the recall. | |||

| On 12/17/2011, i took my 2008 honda odyssey in for service to have the transmission checked since there was fluid leaking and what felt like transmission slippage. because i purchase the car new, had all of my services completed, and because the van only had 84,000 miles, you can imagine my surprise when sons honda (same place where i purchased and had all services completed) informed me i needed a new transmission and quoted me a price of $4,105. because the mileage was over 60,000 miles, when i filed a customer complaint with honda customer relations, i was informed there was nothing that could be done. | |||

| While attempting to secure my child into his car seat, the right side door slammed into my arm, causing extensive bruising. this is not the first time that the door has been malfunctioning. i have frequent issues keeping the door opened while trying to secure my children in their seats. door will not just stay opened. | |||

| While i was accelerating at aprox. 40-45 mhp the car suddenly brakes by his own. i saw the brake pedal moving by itself ! i got scared by the consecuences or the risk of having an accident. on the way to my home it happened two (2) more times while getting speed. went to the dealer but they didn't find anything. one week before the incident the dealer replaced two front brake pads and cut the front rotors because the car vibrated when the brakes were applied. the rotors were attended before. before this incident the vsa light turned on two times while stepping the brakes and the vehicle used to vibrate. i'm concern for the safety of my kids. | |||

| 2008 honda odessey suddenly stopped in the middle of road in cold winter evening with all alarm lights in the dash board on, and could not start. it didn't respond to even jump start. all dashboard lights were on about an hour and eventually all out. police showed up at the scene and urged to tow the car and leave the site due to danger. unfortunately, he didn't issue a report for this. the vehicle was towed to dealer to check with my own expense. dealer mechanic checked it next day and he said the battery failed and replaced under warranty. after replacing the battery, everything was working fine and couldn't find anythingelse wrong, he said. i asked if there's a recall for this and answered no. he said that he saw this kind of issue a few times before. i don't understand that then why it is not recalled yet. it is dangerous and could kill my family if there's a car hehind. it is only 2y and 4m old now and has 33,000 miles. this is the first time experiencing this. | |||

| Minivan was brought to dealer to fix an overly-soft brake pedal, per a recall letter. car was returned with brakes equally soft (or worse), so that even a panic brake procedure (using 240 lb of foot strength) could not trigger the abs, brake assist, or other brake safety features. car was returned to the (same) dealer twice more, with no improvement. calls to honda brought no results. although there may be a simple fix (e.g., bleeding the brake fluid), honda made no attempt to diagnose and repair the problems that arose during a recall procedure. | |||

| Report of safety hazard- on my first drive after purchasing my 2008 honda odessey i was on an interstate and the sun was at an angle which illuminated the light colored trim of the dash panel to the left of the steering wheel. this light colored panel produced a reflection in the shape of the panel which covered my left rearview mirror such that passing vehicles were obscurred . i could not depend upon the drivers side mirror due to this. it reoccurred so often i had to paint the dash trim black on that panel which houses the automatic door switches. | |||

| I own a new 2008 honda odyssey. within 10 months and 17118 miles the brake rotors warped. the dealership, honda, recut the rotors at no charge. within 10 months and now at 36563 miles the rotors are warped again. the dealership and honda now after a wait from oct.09 to feb.2010 are telling me tough luck. i told the dealership i did not want the same rotors recut becaues they would be thinner and would warp quicker. plus the material must be defective. under heavy braking now the steering wheel vibrates so bad it almost jumps out of your hand. | |||

| My niece, age 5, reached for her seatbelt as the door was closing and her hand was crushed between the door and the vehicle. there are sensors on the front side of the door, but it seems that there are no sensors on the back side of the door (where the seatbelt is located). | |||

| The ac stopped working on our year old vehicle. when taken to the dealership for diagnostics they advised a leak was found on the ac condenser which was caused by road debris. they indicated that type of damage was not covered under warranty and handed me a repair estimate for $764.92. i declined the repair bid and took the vehicle home only to find out there are hundreds of other honda odyssey owners reporting the same problems and the same story given by the dealerships. after finding this information i confronted the dealer and attempted to bargain with them gladly offering to pay for the labor to install the new condenser but not for the part. needless to say my efforts were futile and i was referred to honda customer service. in january i filed a case with honda who after about a week contacted me and informed that because the damage was caused by road debris they were could not be responsible. i certainly can not hold honda responsible for road debris damage such as a cracked windshield or punctured tire. however, i still hold them responsible for their poor design and placement of such critical and fragile part in a place where is more susceptible to get hit by road debris. with years of car design experience you would expect a company like honda would take this into consideration. however, they did not and expect the consumer to pay for their design flaw. *tr | |||
