| 1. hyundai sonata 2006 sun visor did not stay in fully folded or extended position. 2. tried to move sun visor to fully folded position and heard cracking sounds and sun visor just hangs loose (straight down) blocking road field of vision 3. i used shoe string to tie sun visor to safety handle above door to keep it from obstructing view of road. unfortunately if visor is tied it is not free to move into fully extended position to shield sun while driving which is also a visibility hazard. i removed the visor and took apart broken hinge to find crack plastic bushing around rod which allows rotation of sun visor. since the thin plastic bushing was cracked/broke into pieces the visor does not hold specified positions. an online forum shows numerous consumers with the same problem and they replace the sun visor for it to just break again. this part is no longer covered under my warranty, but i do not want to buy a new part(~$100) that is manufactured the same as the ones that break easily, just so i'll have to buy another replacement sun visor again. a thin plastic bushing around a metal rod that is loaded frequently is prone to stress fractures and failure. numerous incidences of this defect should prompt a new design and free replacement parts for consumers since this is a driving visibility hazard. | |||

| I was driving my 2006 hyundai sonata in early morning. sun was bright so pulled down sunvisor. heard a cracking sound, a piece of plastic fell on my lap, and now the sunvisor will not stay in position. it just hangs straight down, blocking view. | |||

| Both sun visors in my 2006 hyundai sonata broke without warning. they both flop down and won't stay up. i took them apart and found that the plastic friction-sleeve around the metal hanger has broken on each one. the flopped-down visors restrict the driver's vision and their mid-way position between the windshield and the interior of the vehicle makes re-focusing one's eyes between the outside and the inside of the car problematic. my car is out of warranty so i have not had the visors replaced. instead, i put strips of velcro on the roof and on the visors to keep them up. | |||

| The sun visor on my 2006 hyundai sonata will not stay in the 'up' position. it has started to hang in a position where if i move my head forward i can hit it with my forehead. it also blocks vision in front. i have already had one replaced about 2 years ago and now it is broken again. i think there is a manufacturing defect in this. i did an internet search on this issue apparently lots of people have had this issue. | |||

| Tl-the contact owns a 2006 hyundai sonata. while driving approximately 45 mph the occupational classification system light illuminated while a passenger was in the front passenger seat. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the repair with a letter from the manufacture regarding the failure. the contact stated the dealer refused to repair the vehicle and advised her that her vin was not included in the recall. she also stated the labels for the sun visor was peeling off and she referenced recall 06v234000, equipment:other labels and the dealer advised her that the work had already been performed. the contact stated she never had the work done. the contact stated she received recall 05v377000 and the dealer refused to do the work stating that they had already performed the work. she stated she never took the vehicle in for the recall. she also received recall letter 09v122000. service brakes hydraulic:switches, brake lights and again the dealer refused to do the work stating the work had already been performed. when she engage the brake the switch light does not illuminate. the vehicle has not been repaired for the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 111,000. vwb | |||

| I have a 2006 hyundai sonata with approximately 39,000 miles. about a month ago, the driver side visor falls down and and will not stay up. this is a safety hazard as it falls while i am driving. this appears to be a common complaint with this model. | |||

| I have a 2006 hyundai sonata gls in which i bought in october 2007 with 24k miles. the car was still under warranty when the driver's side sun visor would not return to the upright position. it wouldn't go up or down, but just hang down in my face. had to try and clip it to the roof until i could get it fixed. the dealership said it was a common problem. two weeks later, the same thing happened to the passenger side. two years after having both sun visors replaced, i am facing the same problem on the driver's side again. it is a tremendous safety hazard as my vision is blocked and i am constantly distracted by trying to keep it out of the way. it is also hazardous in the morning and evening when facing the sun, as my eyes have no shield and am blinded. i know this has been a common problem with the sonata so i urge you to investigate and find a solution with hyundai. | |||
