ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
09/09/2011112000
Engine became inoperable while driving causing a major safety issue. several warning lights came on simultaneously (check engine light, slip light, vdc light) at the time. car was able to be restarted with some trouble. problem repeated itself (stalling, loss of power, starting difficulty) over next couple days, although warning lights never went off. independent mechanic identified problem as cam position sensor failures & advised there was a nhtsa safety recall (nhtsa campaign id 03v455000) for the problem with 2003 g35s, but that my vin was outside the campaign recall vins. he suggested i contacted infiniti. i contacted both dealer and infiniti national customer service who acknowledged there was a cam position sensor problem with 2003 g35s, but because my vin was not in the campaign they refused to do anything to address the safety issue. i had my mechanic replace the cam position sensors at my expense (about $700). there are a number of similar complaints filed with the nhtsa about this problem with no apparent resolution with infiniti. the recall campaign 03v455000 needs to be extended to cover all problem vehicles.

In april (2010) i noticed that my check engine light was on and my vehicle would not start. i waited and attempted to restart it a few times until it finally started. i went home and i planned on taking my car to the infiniti service center the next day. when i took my vehicle to the infinit service center i was told that my camshaft position sensor needed to replaced. i replaced it that day and then seven months later in november my vehicle began to replicate the same malfunctions. i thought it was my battery because i had just had this problem fixed. so i bought another battery, but my car continued to not start at random times. therefore, i took my vehicle back up to the infiniti service center i was told that the camshaft position b2 went out. i had that replaced as well.

1 week ago i've noticed a sudden degrade in performance. the car is providing 1/2 as much power as usual, but no warning lights or gauges revealed anything. inspected obvious things like fuel, oil level and purity. 2 days ago *vehicle for the first time suddenly stalled while driving, and was hard to start again. it took almost 1 minute to restart. check engine light activated. car continued to be hard to start after instances that it was shut off. last night: *vehicle stalled again while driving on the freeway, during my delivery of the vehicle to the dealership to investigate this issue. this is a very dangerous problem, i'm lucky no one crashed into me.

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 infiniti g35. while traveling at speeds of 65 mph, the check engine, brake, vdc and spin indicator warning lights illuminated on the warning panel. the engine stalled and all power was lost. the contact was able to maneuver the vehicle off the of the road and restart the engine within moments. an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and advised the contact that an authorized dealer should diagnose the failure. the dealer advised the contact that vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). the vehicle had not been repaired. the current mileage was 98,937 and the failure mileage was 98,923.

My 2003 infiniti g35 sedan experiences intermittent failure of the control panel for operation of the a/c, radio, etc. because of this electrical problem, the engine throttle is unable to be reset. it idles at 1000 rpm and does not reduce rpms when slowing or stopping the vehicle. this causes a shaking of the vehicle. while this make, model, and year vehicle do appear on a recall list, the vin number is out of range so the dealer will not repair the vehicle. *tr

Well i bought this car from bellflower auto mart thinking that i bought a pretty dependable car come to find out the previous owner was drinking and driving and totaled the car, so now the car should have a salvage title but it doesnt the airbag system in the car does not work at all, the dealer bought the wrecked car from auction and repaired it themselves and sold it to me as if it was never in any accident, i asked for the carfax report but it unfortunately slipped my mind after all the paper work, but i went the next day to return the car after i found all this out and was kicked off the property. *tr

I was getting of the freeway when all of a sudden my 2003 infiniti g35 turned off. when i tried to restart the car the car struggled to start eventually did. later that night the car was driving fine. the next day i was driving the car i was turning on a intersection and the car shut down on me again almost causing an accident.my slip light. vch light and check engine lights turned on. i took it to my mechanic he checked it with the computer got the codes p0011 and p0340 cam position sensor and crank position sensor. i told me that the car might have a defect because that year and model was known to have this issue. i checked the internet and i found the recall nhtsa # 03v455000. i called infiniti gave them my vin number and they said my car was not affected by that recall. my call clearly has all the symptoms stated in the recall. this is not far infiniti does not want to take responsibility for this. *tr
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - COOLING SYSTEM

1- battery drained every other day. 2- if the infiniti g35- 2003- is not in use for 1day the battery died. 3- i change the battery 4times in past 8 month!! 4- the ac goes to max and i can not turn it off, i was told this is due to the wiering and that is why the radio doesnt work either 5- if this is due to the wiering i am afraid that it might cause fire. 6- beside the wiering issue, unstopable ac, battery drainage every other day are health issue related since i have allergies and it cause eye tears and i cant see properly while i drive not to mention that i have had flue twice so far because i can not turn off my ac !!! i went through the infiniti website and saw many other infiniti g35/2003 drivers had same issue. please helpppppppppppppp

There is an apparent known defect in the 2003 infiniti g35 models. the radio and climate control will apparently lose all indicators, as if there is no power, but will continue to function, staying frozen on at their last settings. the radio volume or channels cannot be changed and the air conditioning/heater,etc. are stuck on their last settings and cannot be changed without turning the car off. this is caused by a defective control board behind the dash. infiniti/nissan is aware of the problem, and has issued a voluntary service campaign (# itb03-007b) to repair the 26,300 vehicles listed by vin # on the service bulletin. this is a hazard , as in the winter, the front or rear defrosters cannot be turned on, or the air conditioning turned off, causing a hazardous driving condition. infiniti says my 2003 vin # does not fall into the bulletin parameters, (vin # is higher), and they will not cover the repairs, even though it is the same problem. infiniti states the cost to repair.........$2600.00. it is apparent that the bulletin did not go far enough to cover this defect on a larger quantity of vehicles than infiniti wants to admit. *tr

Today, i found 2003 infiniti g35 sedan leak oil into spark plug hole. oil leak into the spark hole would cause engine fire with high voltage from ignition coils. i also found this issue was not limited to my vehicle but most of infiniti/nissan vehicles had this problem. i believe nissan already has known this issue. i hope nhtsa would do something for all of nissan/infiniti vehicle owners.

This is regarding my infiniti g35 sedan. while driving my vehicle on the highway, the engine suddenly stopped and all the dashboard lights came on. i pulled the car over to the shoulder and started the car again. at this point, the service engine soon light came on. i was able to drive to an infiniti dealer 5 miles away, with the engine stopping during operation several times. fortunately there was no crash and nobody was injured or other damage. at the dealer, they diagnosed the problem as a fault crank position sensor, which was a known issue on my car. however, my vin was not part of the previous recall campaign (01v35700) for this issue. the dealer serviced my vehicle by replacing the crank position sensor assembly at a cost of $334.65. i have contacted infiniti and they were unwilling to reimburse my service under the earlier recall campaign. i am writing to notify nhtsa of this incident so it is in your database. i am also requesting that you review the incidents of failed crank position sensors in infiniti cars and consider reinitiating a recall campaign. *tr

My 2003 infiniti g35 sedan has an oil consumption issue. everytime i do an oil change, about 1000 to 1200 miles i check my oil dip stick. it is half way below the full mark. i have repeated done this procedure over 10 times already and have read that this is a common issue with infiniti and nissan. *tr
