| Defect Summary | Nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. a varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu). | |||||||||||||||

| Corrective Summary | Dealers will test the signal between the ocs and acu systems using a special tool to check that it is functioning as designed. if necessary, the seat cushion (containing ocs hardware) will be replaced with a new one manufactured to specification. the recall began on november 4, 2008. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or infiniti at 1-800-662-6200. | |||||||||||||||

| When my most frequent passenger of 140 lbs sits in the passenger seat the airbag off light comes on intermittently. i have taken this into the dealer about 6 times and they have not been able to recreate the issue and have not been able to find any issue when running tests on the computer. this makes me very uneasy as an accident can happen at anytime and i am risking the life of my passenger. *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2007 infiniti g35 sedan. the contact noticed that the air bag warning indicator sporadically illuminates on the instrument control panel. this indicates that the passenger side air bag is inoperative and could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash. the contact then received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v521000 (electrical system: software) and immediately called the dealer. after inspection, a technician stated that she did not need to have her vehicle repaired because it passed the test signal between the ocs and acu systems. the contact took the vehicle to another dealer and they stated that the recall was no longer mandated. it must be changed from a recall to an optional voluntary campaign from the manufacturer. the manufacturer would not assist. the failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 23,500. | |||

| Passenger airbag sensor disables when passenger is less than 120lbs. infiniti dealership said it was recurring issue with the car, and infiniti consumer relations person said it was an recurring problem with the g35s. infiniti referred me to dealership who will review if the sensor can be replaced and fix the problem, but dealer said it was the way it was designed so that airbags won't deploy if a child is in the front seat. my wife is under 120lbs. she's not a child. *tr | |||
