| Unintended acceleration 5 times over the past 2 years when stopping, usually when going downhill. has become more frequent. for the first three incidents just stomping on the brake sufficed to get the engine to stop racing. the last two incidents, in the past 2 weeks, were (1) in a parking lot when going from drive to reverse to drive to maneuver into a parking spot and (2) at a stop light. in the parking lot, turning the engine off and back on stopped the racing. this last incident was the most serious. i turned the engine off, waited ~15 seconds, turned it back on and the engine raced again. turned it off again, waited about a minute, all was ok. the dealer cannot find any reason for these failures. *nm | |||

| After backing out of a parking space, the vehicle auto-accelerated when the transmission selector was placed into the 'drive' position. to avoid a head on collision (the vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed) the steering wheel was turned toward the left. the result was the striking of the bumper area of three parked vehicles, one of which suffered some rear fender damage. damage to my vehicle was severe; however, the air bag failed to activate. this was not the first incident of 'auto-acceleration'. it occured when the vehicle was new. the vehicle was taken to and remained at the dealership for approximately one-week, but no fault was found. *akmore recently, the vehicle continued to increse in speed although no force was applied to the accelerator. in these cases, there was sufficient time so no damage was done. | |||
