| I have a 2001 infiniti i30 and was driving the car on the highway with my son in the passenger seat and we started smelling rubber/plastic burning. a few seconds later we had a large amount of smoke and the car just cuts off at 55 mph and we had manuver it off the road and we had to get out choking on the smoke and later found out from the nssan dealer that the ecm was on fire between my right leg in the car and my sons left leg. i had checked the safety and recall info on this car before purchasing it and no recalls.i now know from searching this issue on line that its a frequent issue that is linked from the idle air valve going bad and causing the ecm to fail and catch on fir in this case. | |||
