| Just bought the used 2008 wrangler from a dealer. pumping gas for the first time. the fuel overflowed at the end of filling. this was not a trickle, it was like a cup of gas puked out. there are numerous videos on youtube.com demonstrating the scenario. i am concerned for my safety and very disappointed that a car from the dealer has a known issue. | |||

| New to me 2008 jeep wrangler x unlimited has fuel overfill spill problems every time i fill with fuel, ever since the first time i filled the tank. gas pump shuts off and fuel continues to spit out of the fuel fill of the jeep. i estimate that 1-2 cups of fuel come out, some of splashes onto me and some if runs down the side of the vehicle. dealership says it is a known problem but my vehicle is not covered so they want $600+ to replace the fuel tank. *tr | |||

| Purchased my 2008 jeep wrangler five weeks ago. since that time, i have filled the fuel tank 6 times. each and every time the fuel tank has overflowed out and down the side of the body, bumper and pooled on the ground. i have tried slowing the fill rate, guessing the amount that the tank will fill to and even holding the rubber cap on the gas pump filler down tight. it makes no difference. i've been splashed in the face, and on my clothes. i've never seen this on any car i've owned in the past. i'm a professional auto/truck mechanic, this is not user error, it is a design failure of the part. a redesign and recall is in order. *tr | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler. the contact stated that when he refilled the fuel tank as it got full the gas sprayed out onto him. the failure recurred numerous times over the course of a month. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and was informed that it was a defect and referred to the manufacturer. the manufacturer was notified and stated they would assist in the replacement of the fuel tank after the contact paid for a portion. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 56,000 and the current mileage was 58,000. pmb | |||

| While filling the gas tank fuel burped out of the fill nozzle misting onto the side of the vehicle, gas pump, and operators hand. fuel pooled below the fill port under the vehicle. the tank was being filled and approaching a full tank, but the pump hand not clicked off and the tank was not beingtopped off. this incident occurred two more times since this report today, october 9th 2012. i have seen there is a corrective warranty offered by chrysler and this incident does not occur if the flow rate is manually slowed when approaching a full tank. | |||

| I was at the gas station filling up my 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara when the click of the gas pump that lets you know your done filling the tank came on and all of a sudden gas starting overflowing in a large puddle all over the side of my jeep. i thought it was a fluke of some sort so i didn't think much of it. then the next time i filled up i had the same situation happen and the same amount came pouring out. after this i knew that there was a problem and i tried filling my tank slowly and it still made no difference in the spillage. i have had this issue occur numerous times since purchasing the vehicle and feel as though it should be recalled. i have contacted the dealership regarding this issue and they state that they have no knowledge of the issue. i have seen numerous other jeep owners have the same issue. this is a safety hazard and should be an issue fixed by chrysler. | |||
