| I have a 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited x 4x 4, went in for service at 30,000 miles and was told my rear brakes were bad and need to be replaced, i told the dealer i could not understand why the rear brakes went out before the front ones, in all my driving history never has the rear brakes gone bad so soon and before the front ones, i to was told this is normal for my vehicle and i had to replace the rear brakes at my cost chrysler would not cover brakes, i had someone else look at the brakes first just to confirm i needed the brakes as again i felt it was way too soon for them to go bad, it was confirmed i needed the brakes. i think this needs to be looked into as i have read other issues of the same as mine, i don't feel so bad about the issue and i know that i did not wear them out in my driving habits seeing all these other similiar issues. | |||

| I have had vehicle for 2 weeks, have driven it less tha 200 miles, right rear brake locked up and would not release, when i got home wheel was hotter than fire and smoking.i replaced rear pads, they had about 3/16 of inch pad left. piston in caliper compressed easy so put pads on and drove about 15 miles and came home only to find rt rear smoking again. i am assuming now its the emergency brake, which i have never used being an automatic. | |||

| Rear brakes on 2008 wrangler unlimited wore completely out in 24,400 miles. the front brake pads were at 80% according to the jeep dealer service tech. there was no underlying cause such as sticking calipers or slides according to the technician. the discs were scored and needed to be resurfaced. although the end result was within tolerance, the surface of both rotors remained scored in several spots. after complainig to the manager they decided to replace both rear discs with new mopar discs. my fear is not identifying an underlying cause for the premature failure. with advanced design and computer driven sensors, there may be a safety issue yet to be identified. i've never had the need to replace rear brakes on a vehicle so soon and considering the condition of the front brake equipment, my suspicion is a system fault that may need to be identified. please call me with any questions. | |||
