As per my ase certified mechanic has directed me. my airbag light has started turning on and off and causing the chime several times a day due to a clockspring in the steering wheel going bad. this is a known recall for previous years including the 2007 model (1yr difference). i'm afraid that in an actual crash the air bag will not deploy or that it will at any random moment.

My 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited x 4dr, has major water leaking issues. i got this jeep used with 17,560miles on it. it runs great. however every time it rains, it leaks. my driver side seatbelt gets so wet that you can wring it out. the floor underneath the backseat gets soaked. i had to use a shampooer in the jeep because i couldn't soak up all the water from the carpet, and it smelled like mildew. i pulled up the carpet to be sure that the plugs are in correctly, which they are, and noticed what looked like rust. the area where my seatbelt adjusts, and around the bolts for the seats is rusting. my jeep only has 49,226 miles on it. my biggest complaint is that you have hundreds if not thousands of people complaining about the unlimited x 4dr leaking water. why hasn't anything been done with this issue? i don't need my floor boards or seatbelt rusting out, in my opinion something needs done before something serious happens.

Started experiencing the jeep death wobble at least 2 years ago. i am the sole owner of a stock 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited. my wife and i are afraid to drive this vehicle that we continue to make payments on. i have put thousands of dollars into repairs with no long term fix, and i do have regular maintenance done at the dealership. multiple replaced steering shocks, and recently a front right u-joint replacement, and a front right break caliper locking up. even after repairs and the dealership checking tension of all suspension parts, the third time out driving the vehicle again...death wobble. very frustrated owners, we should not be paying on a vehicle we are scared to drive and now sits mostly unused except in emergencies.

I was driving my 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited on state route 23 northbound just outside of milan michigan when i began to notice a sputtering of the engine. i started to slow down to pull over and it stopped. as i accelerated back to speed i could feel it again. i pulled off the interstate onto the cone azail road exit as i slowed down the engine started to run fine again. i entered back onto the highway and as pick up speed it started sputtering i finally pulled over and as i was reaching to open the hood a flame shot out. with in minutes my vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. it happened so fast i was unable to recover anything out of the vehicle safely. when contacting chrysler regarding this incident they told me to take it up with my insurance company and that they would not cover any damages.

My jeep wrangler is experiencing a death wobble when i travel between 55-60mph the front end of my jeep shakes uncontrollably. this occurs when i hit a small bump but also seems to be occuring even on flat pavement. my jeep has stock parts and has never been off roaded. i belong to a jeep community and know numerous other individuals who have had this same problem some dating back to the 1990s. it seems an ongoing issue like this would have warranted an investigation and a product recall on the flawed parts.

I have heard rumors about massive front-end shimmy happening on '07 and newer jeep wranglers, but never had any trouble.starting last week the slightest road irregularity causes the front wheels of my jeep to shimmy back and forth violently, with lack of directional control. inspection could find no defects visual to the eye, but i have had to quit driving my jeep. this vehicle and others that may be showing this same problem will lead to fatalities......i am a professional motor vehicle repairman and have never seen this severe shimmy before.

Shifting the 4-wheel drive transfer case (tc) from 2hi to 4hi or 4low (or in reverse order) can cause the transfer case shifting cable (tcsc) (mopar part 52060462ag) to fail and become disconnected from either the tc or the shift lever in the cab (or both). the part

Cruise control stopped working. i got a new clock spring from a local 4x4 shop that ordered it through the local dealer. i had the 4x4 shop install the clock spring for me because my local jeep dealer is not a trustworthy dealer in my opinion. total for the repair was nearly 500 dollars

We have a 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited with 30,0000miles, that has what is called the death wobble, this has happened numerous times beginning with as little as 15,000 miles. i can be driving down the interstate about 60 mph and going around a turn the front end shake fiercely, the steering wheel shakes so band that is will cause an accident. the jeep dealers has looked at this vehicle and cant seem to find the problem.this is an issue with lots of jeeps around the company, just do a google search and type in jeep wrangler death wobble and you can see at the complaints. chrysler need to find and fix this problem before someone get killed.

2008 jeep wrangler unlimited fire. jeep caught fire while traveling westbound. the fire initially extinguished by a truck driver who stopped to provide assistance with a hand held fire extinguisher. *bf the consumer there was a problem, because the vehicle began to lose power and it began to slow down. the origin of the fire was localized near the passenger side mid-front undercarriage of the vehicle. according to the report, it was unlikely that the cause of the fire was electrical. there was no evidence of a mechanical failure as of the date of the report, and due to the lack of fluid leakage on the highway, visible mechanical damage and the lack of reported noise and smoke from the vehicle prior to the fire. the cause of the fire could not be determined. updated 11/03/10. *jb

2008 jeep wrangler jk, equipment. the provided floor jack to change tires is insufficient. when placed in the recommended position to raise the vehicle (location in the owner's manual) the jack at full extension is not long enough to raise the vehicle. at full extension (also not recommended in the owner's manual) causes an unstable jack which increases the risk of the vehicle falling. the provided jack is too short making it unusable. to use the jack, you'd have to put makeshift blocks under it to raise it (not recommended), or buy an aftermarket jack. hopefully, no one's been hurt yet.

Water is leak through the canvas fabric on my soft top. when ice forms on the outside of the soft top of my 2008 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited it forces water through the fabric. chrysler has told me they can not replicate the problem and were going to close the case. they told me they did not form ice on top of the car to test this situation. there is ice that forms on the interior fabrics and surfaces of the car as a result of water leaking through the soft top. i have documented pictures that i provided to chrysler and there are large water stains on the interior of the soft top. leak causes water to drip on driver and passengers as well as cargo during vehicle operation. *tr

Have you had any investigations or experiences with fires in these new 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited models? these are the popular new 4-door models. there are a slew of videos and reports on the internet, but i'm having trouble identifying a common thread between them. thanks, jay from nhtsa web site. *tr updated 01/30/09. *jb
