Defect SummaryKeystone is recalling 161,250 my 2004-2007 fifth wheel and travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. the refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryIf this solution is exposed to an ignition source under certain specific circumstances, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective SummaryKeystone is working with dometic to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or keystone at 1-866-425-4369.

Defect SummaryOn certain travel trailers and fifth wheel recreational vehicles, during production it was discovered that the furnace may not be secured and the gasket that seals the furnace to the floor duct system may be missing.
Consequence SummaryThe furnace could move away from the outside wall and disconnect from the exhaust outlet. if this occurs, exhaust gasses will enter the interior of the vehicle when the furnace is operating which could lead to injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect and install the furnace correctly, securing it to the floor and adding the missing gasket free of charge. the recall began on march 14, 2005. owners may contact keystone at 1-866-425-4369.

Consequence SummaryThe center of the wheel could separate from the rim. the wheel may wobble and cause a vibration or the mounted tire could lose air causing the tire to go flat, resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

 2005 keystone sprinter copper canyon rv and dometic refrigerator recall. consumer states that dometic will not reimburse for the repair on the refrigerator. *nj ammonia had leaked from a cracked weld. the consumers reimbursement claim was denied because the repairs were not made within the specified time frame and the warranty had also expired. *jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 keystone sprinter. the contact heard a loud bang or pop and discovered that the refrigerator ruptured. he went to investigate the cause of the sound and noticed ammonia leaking from the vehicle. the dealer stated that there was a massive recall, and advised the contact to unplug the refrigerator and shut off the gas. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle is out of warranty; therefore, they would not repair it under the recall. the contact would have to cover the cost of the repairs. the failure mileage was unknown.

 Tl*- the contact stated that the tires on the 2005 keystone sprinter rubbed the top of the wheel well. the contact spoke with the dealership and was advised that the cause of the problem was due to the design of the trailer. the dealership informed the contact that the wheel was too close to the wheel well. this caused the tires to become deformed. the contact sent pictures to the manufacturer, and they advised him the cause of the problem was due to the trailer being overloaded, which caused the springs to bend. the vehicle currently had 2000 miles. *ak the consumer feels that the issue with the springs is a factory defect and would like to be reimbursed, the consumer provided all invoices. update 4/27/07*tr

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 keystone sprinter. the vehicle has mission loadmax radial (na), size st 205/75/r15 tires. the tires were manufactured in taiwan. the contact stated that three of the four tires were defective. one of the tires blew out while driving. the failure caused damage to the underbelly of the vehicle's insulation. he sent the tires back and received replacements. the second tire, which was the spare tire, sustained tread separation and the third tire had a bubble on the sidewall. since the initial failure, he replaced the tires with those from the same manufacturer, however, for safety precautions, he has replaced those tires with ones from a different manufacturer. the tire and vehicle failure mileages were 2,500 and the vehicle current mileage was 5,000. no other vehicle information was provided.

 Spare tire on our travel trailer has never been used. my husband was working outside and heard a large boom. the spare tire on the spare tire holder of the camper had exploded leaving a large hole in the tire. we are now very concerned about the tires on the trailer. if they explode while we are in route to a campground it could cause serious damage to our trailer and possible cause an accident. your complaint information site does not list the tire on our camper. it is a mission tire st 205 75 r 15 dot 4yb3 tc108 mho 402-07. *jb

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 keystone sprinter. the contact stated that the manufacturer did not include the brace plates that were needed to connect to the capture plate of the super glider hitch. as a result, the trailer became unhitched while in motion and caused a crash. an inspection revealed that the bolts that were required for the vehicle were never placed on the trailer. the manufacturer stated that the dealer should have automatically installed this kit, but they did not. no other vehicle information was available.
