Defect SummaryToyota is recalling certain model year 2010 camrys. the length of the power steering pressure hose on vehicles equipped with the 4-cylinder (2ar-fe) engine may be insufficient, such that the gap between the crimp on the pressure hose and the brake tube for the left rear brake may be insufficient. under these circumstances the brake tube may interfere with the crimp and may wear and then perforate.
Consequence SummaryA brake tube perforation may result in brake fluid leakage. a leak in brake fluid may impact braking performance increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryToyota will notify owners and, if necessary, dealers will replace or adjust the brake tube free of charge. the safety recall began on march 4, 2010. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

I am having issues with my camry bouncing, swaying, pulling left and right, the engine, transmission or axles shake. it feels like the brakes are pulsing or on at random times. i believe there are several issues with this car and toyota is not reporting the problems. i also believe the mechanics are falsifying documents which are affecting my safety and the safety of others. brake issues are life threating and toyota assured me my car is safe. i have been at the dealership 5 times to have the issues fixed but the dealer first blamed the tires and balancing. i replaced the tires and the dealer blamed the loud snow tires. the dealer made an appointment with a service specialist. they blamed it on tire noises and said the see you in the spring when you change the tires and they specialist said you are still under warrantee. i changed the tires two days later and returned on monday. the dealer test drove the car and said nothing but they will be talking the toyota specialist. i heard nothing for a week and i had to call them on again on monday (today). the service managers said there is nothing wrong. i just received a class action lawsuit mailing over the weekend. i knew the dealer and toyota were hiding something. i also took the car to a second toyota dealer as the specialist recommend. the second dealer already knew about the issues before i got there. the service manager drove my car, not a mechanic test, and also blamed the snow tires. the specialist was also asking what toyota dealerships are closer to home for me. i also called toyota and opened two cases. i asked for transcripts of the classes and other information, they said that was for in-house use only and i could not have the info.

My 2010 camry has been to the dealer a few times. know one seems to be able to duplicate the acceleration surge i'm experiencing. i contacted toyota directly. they sent me to different dealer. dealer had it for a day and said the same thing can't duplicate i think they have all been schooled to say this. i had the service manager ride with me and told him to watch the rpm dial when i go to stop. he saw the rpm dial move up to almost 2000 when i hit the break. he had me drive another 2010 camry and it did the same thing. i had a 98 avalon and a 03 camry that did not do this. he explained to me that this is the way these new cars down sift and it's different than the older toyota

We bought our 2010 toyota camry on 12/31/2010 unaware of the recall that was about to hit. when we started hearing about the recalls, we got on the toyota web site. our vehicle that we purchased 2 weeks prior was now on a recall list. when we contacted our local dealer, they said to do nothing, toyota was sending out a letter the following week with all recall cars listed and when to bring them in. we never received a letter from the company nor the local dealership. when calling to demand this issue be fixed on monday 3/8/2010, they took my name and number, said someone would call me back, and never did. my car has depreciated, i can't even get out from under it and am scared to death to drive it. i am appalled at the lack of response or concern from this company. i want out of this contract !!! *tr

Abs brake failure on my 2010 toyota camry. no accidents, as i have been through two professional driving courses. however, hearing the incidents of the prius brake issues caught my attention. there is an inconsistency with the operation of the abs system on my johnson & johnson fleet camry that was delivered in october, 2009 (2010 model). if there is a need to tap the brakes they will lock up and the car lunges forward. when applying the abs brakes on gravel or loose/uneven pavement, it makes a clicking noise and the car seems to hop, rather than come to an appropriate stop. it seems identical to reports/complaints that i've heard around the prius. normally, i would not even consider sending an alert to you. however, hearing interviews on the news and reading further about the recall, i felt very compelled to let you know. i am the assigned driver to this fleet vehicle. it is owned & licensed to johnson & johnson healthcare services. *tr

In oct 2009 we purchased a 2010 toyota camry hybrid sedan. we immediately noticed that there was a lag or delay when we applied the brakes. i noted to my wife that i never came so close to the car infront of me when stopping...repeatedly. i told this to my sales rep at the dealer at which i bought the car, and he said, no issue. -happens consistently at all speeds. so far no accident, but very close to frequently rear-ending cars - no repairs--told not an issue i ask that you add the 2010 toyota camry hybrid to the list of problem toyotas. thanks you *tr

Camry hybrid 2010. bought new and complained to toyota of surging forward inconsistency during my daily two hour commute. i asked if they planned to fix it during my last service visit and the answer was nope. when asked that they do fix it, the answer was, nope!. you will be notified in april when the pedals are going to be fixed. i have had nightmares of speeding out of control and am afraid to drive this car. do i have any recourse. this is not the car i thought i purchased months ago. *cn

I owned 2010 camry le and when it reached approx. 30,000 miles warranty the front brake started vibrating and i felt l like the wheel was going to come off when i stepped on the brakes from high speed and going downhill. i'm not a professional mechanic but i knew it was a warp brake rotor. i had the rotor turned and that's all it takes.i think it is very premature for a brake rotor to fail at 30,000 miles and most especially for a camry. i was bit surprise when the dealer told me that my brake was no longer covered under warranty due to my mileage. all along i thought that it was 36mos/36000 miles bumper to bumper warranty but i was wrong, so no more toyota next time and not recommending toyota to family members and friends.

I have a 2010 toyota camary that when you put it in drive and hit about 10 miles an hour there is a clunk. i have taken it to the local dealership multiple times and am being told that it is the abs actuator and that there is no fix to it at this time and i was just going to have to live with it.

Purchased 2010 toyota camry in 12/10/09. car/tire was wobbling, felt that alignment was out. i took vehicle to dealer on 12/21/09. i was told that one of the tires was off. dealer service just rebalanced rear passenger tire and inflated well beyond required psi's. car continued to wobble, and drive with a distortion in ride and have to hold steering wheel to the left to keep the car straight. went back for service on 1/23/10. again, service admitted radial pull. they rebalance the wheels, and realigned the car and that didn't correct the problem. dealer put 4 new tires and realigned. problem continued. car is not sitting on the frame properly but service will not admit it. took car to service again on 2/13/10. again a 4 wheel alignment was performed and didn't fix the problem. took to service again 3/8/10 complained that car isn't driving properly, i have to hold my steering wheel a certain way to keep the car driving straight. went for a test drive due to the distortion, wobbling of car and was told that toyota tires roll from left to right. incredible! the car accelerates when coming to a stop and steering wheel is turned to the left to go straight. one side of the car is higher than the other. when i asked what was done to the car, i was told that they made some adjustments and was dismissed. people driving behind me flash their lights at me and i've been stopped and told that my car is crooked . i can feel it and see the same thing. service inflated my tires to over 42psi's. that's too much air. this car is still drifting to the right or left depending upon which way the tires are moving from left to right, in which i was told this is a toyota thing. insulting! i feel this was done in order to mask whatever the real problem is. i traded a 2004 camry that had the same issues. i had over 30 alignments, 4 brake jobs, a steering shaft replaced and 4 sets of tires in 4 yrs. i have documentation on that car. this car is doing the same thing. feel unsafe. *tr

I have a 2010 camry approx 11,000+ mileage. i had my car checked for the brakes due to the popping sound when release brake pedal and clicking after putting car in reverse and then drive. toyota responded: the sound you are hearing is normal operation of the brake system. when you shift from reverse into drive, the brake calipers mechanically adjust to the vehicle's forward motion. when this adjustment happens, a clicking sound can sometimes be heard. this is a normal characteristic of the vehicle and will not cause any issues to the brake system. i just dropped my car off again this morning to have repairs done for the recall after the first time telling me that it wasn't sticking; but i heard that it should still be repaired. i asked them to check the brakes again and the service rep said the sound doesn't sound normal. i'm extremely nervous driving the car and worried about the unknown of what can happen. i have been driving cars for many years and never had the brakes sound this way. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota camry. the contact stated that while trying to brake at approx 10 mph, the vehicle began to slide. the contact stated he felt and heard a grinding sound and the transmission shifted into reverse on its own. he was able to get the vehicle to a complete stop. he was able to duplicate the same problem by attempting to brake again and he heard and felt the grinding sound. however the vehicle did not shift into reverse again. he also stated that he could not get the vehicle up the small hill leading to his driveway without removing the snow out of the way first; he believed that the vehicle should have been able to get up the hill as it had front wheel drive. he had not called the manufacturer or the dealer to-date. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the current and failure mileages were 3,399.

2010 toyota camry. consumer requests assistance with a reconsideration of interest rate and repair issue with vehicle *tgw the consumer stated she took the vehicle to the dealer due to a noise that was occurring right after she started the vehicle and put it in drive. the noise existed from the time she purchased the vehicle. the explanation she received was that all camry's made that noise as it came from the braking system engaging. the consumer requested to ride in another camry to compare the sounds as her vehicle was very loud. the service manager was unable to locate the same braking system on the lot. the service manager then stated he would open a technical assistance system case and when a specialist was in the area, they would have him inspect the vehicle. the manager contacted the consumer and informed her, the specialist would not be inspecting the vehicle as they had received several complaints and they determined the problem to be the abs actuator, but there was no fix at the moment. *jb
