My question is has the toyota scion xa-2006 , with its many many complaints of a fuel tank problem been recalled yet. i ask that because with a mere 37,000 miles scion has offered me $235 out of the $800 required to repair the fuel system becuase of an evap. problem. i initilally agreed to the amunt and now think that that is not enough, taking into account of the many many toyota, scion xa 2006 with the fuel system problem. i did file a complaint on about feb 27th. the o.d.i number is 10449553- if that is pertinent. thank you. sylvia ross

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota scion xa. the contact stated that the check engine warning lamp was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that there was an evaporation leak in the fuel system. as a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 37,000.

As many people have already reported i have a 2006 scion xa. the check engine light came on so i took it to the dealership. the car only has 52,000 miles on it and i bought it brand new. they stated it was a charcoal canister that needed to be replaced and it was not under warranty or covered by anything. they want $784.00 plus tax to fix the issue. with so many people having this problem i do not see how they can get away with making customers pay for this on basically brand new cars.

2006 scion xa- check engine light at 89k miles; codes indicated evaporative system issues. brought to the dealer; was told charcoal canister needed replacing as there was water in it that shorted out a purge valve. did a search online and found a toyota technical service bulletin (tsb eg04706) that described retrofitting a new fuel vent tube collar to prevent water intrusion and all subsequent cars after a certain vin got a new design. since the car is well out of warranty i ended up spending $750 to fix. if the tsb was implemented earlier as part of normal servicing it would have only been .5 hrs labor adding a small part (collar) at much lower cost. the fact that toyota lets the consumer take the car to failure before rectifying the issue is just not right. *tr

Vapor canister and filter failure due to unknown causes, this effects the emissions and mileage per gallon drop. after contacting multiple dealerships they told me this has been a common problem with my model car and all dealers have been flooded with this kind of problem with toyota's as well. i was told that a technical service bulletin had been issued on this problem due to the design problem in the evap system. *tr

Charcoal canister/evap/fuel filler tube problem. same as was listed on the technical service bulletin for scion xas and the like. i have a 2006 scion xa. i am still under warranty and they're telling me they won't even cover this under the warranty. *tr

I own a 2006 scion xa and very recently the check engine light came on. i had it diagnosed...p2401 evaporate leak detection pump control circuit. the charcoal canister and some other small parts are ruined due to water leakage. i am one of many scion owners who now has to pay major parts and labor charges to have this fixed. it should most certainly be covered under warranty for the life of the car, not just for the first 50,000! *tr

I own a 2006 scion xa. i bought the car new off of the show room. after 5 months of owning the car the check engine light came on. i took the car back to the dealership that it was purchased from. they checked it with the code reader. the codes were p2401- evap leak detection pump stuck on, p043e- evap leak detection orifice low flow, evap leak detection pump stuck off, p2419- evap pressure switching valve stuck on, p043f- evap leak detection orifice flow high. the dealer replaced 4 parts fuel tank filler pipe cover, filler pipe cover holder, charcoal caniste, and charcoal canister filter. they replaced the parts at no charge. i drove the car for almost 2 years and now the light has come back on for the same codes. i now have to replace the same four parts in a car that is less then 3 years old. *tr

Well, i too have a 2006 scion xa with less than 5,000 miles on it! the left tweeter and mirror combination must be a bad design because mine is leaking and it also caused the tweeter to fail. the ventilation system for heating/cooling and defogging is woefully inadequate. i'm very concerned about the person who stated that his scions have improperly gaped spark plugs!! doesn't seem like toyota and now, scion is building cars the way they used too. dealers and service people aren't very friendly and both dealerships in this maryland area are less than amicable or skilled about service-not very knowledgeable or don't really care. i'm very disappointed with this scion product-it rattles and squeaks on the interior, but it's hard to pinpoint where they are coming from and not the usual expected toyota quality. brakes seem to take too long to stop and are mushy even at low speeds. car is basically a modern-day disappointment and i read about the fuel filler tube needing to be replaced on a scion forum because poor design causes fuel to spill over when filling the tank to near full-happened to me on several occasions. thought i was supposed to enjoy my new car, but it it worrisome and will probably spend a lot of time getting the defects straightened out. also, on a scion forum, the radio controls on the steering and radio/cd head unit have been known to fail. car seems poorly engineered and low quality. headlights in particular are a very poor design on dark streets and also in the fog-provide little illumination for any distance. *tr
